Well not to fuss unduly but I do get the shaft in both "randomized" picks. It seems there could be a way the third round could be done in an order reflecting the fortunes of the previous two rounds.

For some reason my aim keeps dropping Major Pain's aim id from my buddy list every time I enter it.

All the others are there without a problem. I will enter it it is listed and then it just drops off....

Ignore above issue, Pain is now coming in loud and clear

Just to clarify, in case It needs clarity.....As much as I love my son Dar and envy his skillz, it works best at this house if he is on another team from me.

Wanted to be sure all knew that the family tie that binds us is released on draft day.

Baba is brought to the top, minor tweak, everyone gets kicked down a bit. I guess in essence, the entire third round should mirror the 2nd round, as that in truth, is as fair as it is gonna get. Anyone opposed to round 3 having the same setup as round 2?

Ya, a draft list could be interesting. I have to add though that some on the list I am not familiar with at all, and some very little (with their play). I wouldn't want someone to draw erroneous conclusions to their draw order.

BTW, should we play skins and shirts and hope we get lucky with TG? :-)

I was going to broadcast draft in sorta live fashion. Captains have comments on that?

Just a question... Can anyone with an AIM screenname get into this? Is that what you meant by the "live" comment or am I befuzzled?

Good question. I'd like to see the results as well.

Let me throw out an arguement for not publicizing draft order, beyond captains and Tally.

Given the propensity for ego's to go on the rampage and little things to become big and personal quickly.... It might not be bad to keep that to ourselves.

Every team member should be of equal footing once selected, assuming they adhere to basic codes of conduct and (very importantly SHOW UP!).

I know there is a strong tendency to not only compete but to want to be "the best", "#1", better than.... I just don't think that necessarily brings out the best in folks and is not necessarily the best for the league.

Once teams are formed trash talking between teams is a necessity of course.

I may be way in the minority on this one and in no way feel that strongly about it to try to block it.

Needless to say the draft order will seep out quickly enough anyway.

Only the captains can attend the draft.

"live" means I would make a page and update it as often as I could throughout the proceedings.

Compelling arguments only against doing it, none for.

I agree with Baba. I doubt it would be good for morale if a person found out they weren't picked until the 3rd round (especially if it was by the last few captains). Just state the final teams and let the captains decide if they want to state who was picked before who.

The question of posting the draft order picks live or having them summarized in end hinges on one question I think. That is, does the League want to have players experience the highs and lows of being ranked from 1-30 on a list before their peers or not? I know that some players definitely would like it while others may get bummed. My take would be this - Since PPT is planning to set up an automatic ranking system based on player's actual statistical data gathered from game play as is currently being done for Capture the Flag servers, we should consider not publishing the draft order for our league since it really is just based on the decisions of a small # of Captains. If we did publish this, I fear we might demoralize some of our up-and-coming players and not acurately portray the player's statistical worth on the field. Bottom line, it would suck if any captains or draftees felt they got stuck with or put on a team because they were last choice.

But alas, I will defer to the better judgement of the board. What do you all think?

I agree with baba. I have a list of who I want on my team 1st to last and nobody will ever see it.

I would just as soon not post the draft results for reasons already stated. I don't see that there is anything gained by players knowing what the pick order was. IMHO it's enough that they know they have been chosen by a captain.

One observation:

Is the distribution of players who are vets of league action fairly spread here?

OM may need another vet player since he is new to league action, according to his post of the 4th. (In retrospect, the rookie chief should have gotten the first pick... Hindsight 20-20.)

Execute me if you need to. Glad to drop if a non-playing vet wants to step in -- like 56K Lag Man, for instance...

Thanks for your offer (I appreciate it) I admit that I'm a little nervous about captaining. :S <---- (me nervous)

But I think we'll be alright. Dar is a vet of league action. He's very skilled, and I figure it can only be good to have a player from the #2 team in the recent competition.

You and KHB are very good players too. As for me, well heh :o Seriously though, I think we'll be fine.

BTW- I have JJ's email, but not Dar or KHB. Baba, do you know how best to contact your son? And KHB, if you're reading this, can I get an email to contact you with? Thx.

One last thing, I think I'm going with Glamdring as the team name. Sounds strange I know, but if you know what it means, good. If not, do a google. It'll pull it up. I think you'll like the significance. :)

We do this for fun. That is priority one. The rest is in the periphery. Have fun and yousa winner.

@OM/JJ - keep in mind that team play in tourney/leagues can be quite different from indie or team scrum elsewhere... The higher level of teamwork can negate individual rookie/vet imbalances.

And here's a proposal for maps: How about we just use the lush and frantic sets? They seem to be the most popular. Instead of each team having a home map (and the chance that some teams don't care for the map they get), how about all of the games for a particular evening being played on the same map and the maps rotate night to night? That could really generate some team tactics specific to maps. Might be cool...

Dont be fooled by the distribution of individual vets. As george said team play is very important. That is why everyone's predictions for the 3 on 3 were completely wack. No substitute for a team working together. I bet we will all be surprised how close some of the games will be.

This is not a game of elimination, so let's not get concerned about skill distribution! Everyone will get a to play a bunch of good games. Besides, there are lesser-known names with some mighty skill. They just don't play as often to get that reputation.

Here's my prayers/ideas/comments:

Prayers: Tally, on bended knees, I beg, plea, pray, implore you that at least SOME of these games be played on something other than a lush map.... I haven't played scrum for even half of the time some of you all have, and I'm already puking at the same old scenario of the side-hill booster on Freudian Flats taking someone to the goal... Or not taking them. Please please please please please? I think I remember that the old Psychoscrum was played on Spooky or sumpin, hence the Psycho.

Ideas: Perhaps, if all four players for the team can make it, it could turn into a four on four by mutual consent? I know it goes against the whole thing 3 on 3, etc., but it does give all the team a chance... Mebbe...

Comments: Our team is still working on a name. Wait till tonight.
