OK so we pick our teams Monday at 7PM PST right?? I use yahoo instant messenger. Its in my profile. What does everyone else use?

@Tally So you broke last Seasons Amnesia team to be captains. Hmmm. Definitely will be a new mix. Think Yahoo chat would work. Use to use it at work. Need us to create an account if non already. Not a chat power user. If someone could describe how to setup a chat conference? My Yahoo chat id: trex_tc I am never on it. Can be for Monday at 7pm.

I'd prefer to do it through that if possible.

Instant Messenger is going to be a pain for drafts. Here is my suggestion:

Tally, assign random priority numbers to the captains for each draft round.

Captains are to select their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th preference of who they want as their 1st pick. Send as email for privacy from other captains.

Tally, (or whoever he delegates this to), will then take the 1st priority Captain, and give him his 1st choice. He'll then take the 2nd priority captain and give him his 1st choice if available. If not, then his second choice, etc. Since each captain picks 8, there is a guarantee that even the last priority captain will get someone in his list.

After the first draw, Tally (or the sucker who who has to do the work) will show the teams so far. He will re-assign random priority captains, and captains will re-issue their 8 descending preferences based on who is left that will work well with their team so far.

Repeat until teams are full. Any comments? With this, it will take 3 picks, but then we don't have the mess of multiple chat messengers or the chance of a single captain that can't make it.

Pretend monday at 7 is the first game , download instant messenger , and make it. I can't imagine tearing through 64 different selections will be easier than drawing names, and I'd rather not do it that way.

Another draft suggestion is to randomly assign team numbers. First round of draft follows team order (team 1, team 2, etc.). The 2nd round is in reverse order (team 8, team 7, etc.). Third round follows team order again. I've seen that done in a few fantasy league drafts.

If you can get an IM conference going, everyone can see each pick as it is made. This method does require all captains to be present.

Just remember that allowing captains to select their own team creates more balanced teams. (Providing they accurately determine player strength.)

Damit. The one program I HATE to install because of the malware is AIM. I just created a username called boloscrum for aim. I will use it for the event but never any other time unless requested.

Yes lets go with AIM or ichat (are they able to chat to each other?) rather than preferences emailed back and forth till eternity.

It is easier to keep track of things and also to confidentially send stuff to teammates. AIM is a plus to discuss strategies...

What about team names? I guess we'll have to come up with four more names to complete the 8-team roster, if we stick with the mental -ia naming convention: Amnesia, Dementia, Neurosia, Synaptia... (at least MajorPain's heavy-duty scrub-down got rid of the Amnesia curse!)

Or... I just poked through the old original-league threads HB linked up when he started PS3 on GG (The Ground Stompers, The Highlanders, The Smiling Boots, Ghost Squadron). Perhaps we could have each team come up with their own name (less players per team = easier to do this).

New names would do well by me. I leave that to the captains.

Errr just noticed draft order and..well... How was the order devised?

If order was randomly drawn for first round and flipped for second round that would make some logical sense - the third round escapes me though.

Even though I did not participlate, I noticed during time of last league some cancelled matches due to no-shows on servers.

No lag = good CPU speed + good RAM + good video card speed and memory (and like mine, not built into stinkin motherboard) + good connection (cable best)?

Field of Screams has no lag, for sure.

Would preseason matches be good trial for best servers?

Think I understand the team selections. Just wanna make sure. Draft 1 is random and u get the nth pick. Draft 2 u get the 9 - nth pick. Draft 3 is random. So we end up with 8 teams of 4 = 32 players... Do I have it right?? I guess we should decide ahead of time what order our picks are. Anything else we captains should do b4 the draft besides??

You could figure out who has the worst picking order and then give them the better spot on round 3. Ex: baba is worst so he picks 1st in round 3, etc. Dont know if that would be better or not. Just a suggestion. Looks pretty fair as it is I think. Good work.
