Benny,
I was mulling the idea of full 4 on 4 games, and the reason I was against it was because of that added level of confusion it would add to those times when there was some pre-decided line-up, then someone went missing. Also, it would complicate the stat keeping for me, as I want to record team +/- stats and whatever other nonsense I can come up with.
What do the rest of you think?
I've always maintained that the best team scrum is 4 on 4. The space and movement I find have the best flow and balance, but then again, I run around like decapitated poultry. Also, if everyone is there/available, why not?
Yingers and yangers.
Ps. The season will be divided into thirds, each representing a different world of maps. Nobody will play more than 5 games on lush, hallelujah.
GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK ON THE TOP TABLE RE: LEGIBILITY ETC.
Table looks fine.
I want 3on3 because it allows us the flexibility of 1 being absent. I DO NOT want anyone to lose because someone was sick or something. I don't know. If all 4 show up for both teams, maybe they can agree on a 4on4 match if they wish, but I don't want it to be the requirement. In Psychoscrum, it was 5on5 with teams having up to 10 players in the queue, and yet Teams came up short (as you should be painfully aware of, Tally).
I'm in the military. I'm essentially on call 24 hours a day. If my team can't afford me occasionally having to bug out for a training drill have my team forced to play 4on3, I'd rather disqualify myself now.

4 on 3 games will never happen.
@Tally- the table is OK, but don't make the type any smaller or you'll have to send us all magnifying lenses (OK, I'll just speak for myself) Gotta love OS X's Zoom feature though. Hehe.
As for 3on3 vs. 4on4, I think if all 4 players on both teams show up, and all are reasonably certain they will not have to bow out for whatever reason, then it should be discussed by the team caps. The worst thing would be if one player that wasn't supposed to be playing that night had to step out mid game for one reason or another. (forgot to do homework, walk the dog, etc.) That would fubar the flow of the game in my opinion.

The Brain sez:
4x4 by mutual agreement.
4x3 no-no.
3x3 yes-yes
3x2 or 3-1 must be played. Sorry to the loser.
To paraphrase someone I know: 'This is stacked'
Brain lays at down proper.
As an adjunct to OM: If a 4 on 4 game is going on and someone has to drop, a person on the opposite team needs to drop IMMEDIATELY. No fooking around, and this person must be designated (and told to the other team) BEFORE the game starts.
@ Tally- I figured that was the case, (dropping extra player) which is what I meant by screwing with the flow. I wouldn't accept anything less. Thanks for clarifying it!
PSYCHOSCRUM 4.0 SEASON!
Who will win the coveted PsychoScrum Cup?
I'm clearing my mantle now.... Hugo, might as well just hand that over now. :P

ACA, come and get it. We're not afraid of your endless legions of clones. B)
Re: 4 on 4: I'm all for mutually agreed 4 on 4. I'm just thiinking, if one person drops out after both teams agree to play, it is pretty disruptive for the other team to have to drop someone. For example, what if one person leaves just for a moment -- and comes back? Then you get in some infinite mis-communication loop. I've seen it happen!! Also, I'd hate to see a strategy develop where one team decides to drop their 4th person to force the other team to drop a player during the height of competition.

All is fair in love and psychoscrum I suppose. I like the idea of mutually agreed 4 on 4 combat with the possibility of dropping 1 from each team if necessary.
I think that we can address Reagent X's concern by only having the other team drop one to even the teams IF AND ONLY IF a team member announces he is dropping. Sometimes computers do lock, lights blink, ect. And a player is able to return in short order. So dropping to even the players should only happen if announced.
Of course the laggy Flea would like this idea. Sometimes I would like to see if I can contribute to a game even when I am showing 400-700ms ping :-(
It sometimes gets to be unbearable in action though and I wouldn't want to leave my team short.
Charter cable keeps promising a fix soon, but it is becoming a tired song. If you read about a 15 mile radius area-effect happening on the south Oregon coast suspect the cable office as the epicenter.

@ Tal - ya Hugo has it right
@ Reagent X - Strangeness does happen in intentional and unintentional ways.
Leaving open the 4 on 4 option gives us more ways to delay, screw up, confuse a good game.
Sometime less options are better.
Also the lag factor rears its ugly head with more on a server.
I'm cool with it though if it is spelled out to everyone ahead of time.
@ ACA - sorry bud. That there cup will be staying at Hugo's.
I'm sure he is fashioning some jewel encrusted crowns for his soon to be victorious teammates.
@ Ben/Sizicus hear you about lush burnout. Expect some high flying on the frantic maps!!!
Getting psyched for psycho!

Re. 4x4 becoming 4x3.
If a player is dropping out in what is suspected to be a temporary fashion, one player from the opposing team only has to become a spectator.
'He! Don't shoot me! I'm only watching!'
@ Hugo
You and me bud! :-)

Fear the flea's bite. X/
Sounds good everyone. Team name will be posted tonight. Later

@Tally, Re: Legibility. Lighten up the gray a bit. As is they are too strong and get distracting. The font is a bit too fancy to work at that size, need a font designed to be small, or make it bigger. Also, pull the Capee-tans closer to their roster, when I was perusing the teams I kept forgetting the capts, since their names are so far away...
@Flea: mmm krusty biscuits...
If I'm not in the league can I still post random pictures in the thread?
-- lazy eyes
I'd second making the fonts larger.
(Why can't I see the sheep graphic in Safari and I can in Explorer? I see all the others in Safari...)
@56k- Heh. Funny pic.
Did you want to be in the league?
I only ask because as of this writing, Kentucky Hillbilly hasn't checked in with me, and I don't know how to contact him. And time is a-wastin', so I may have no choice but to drop him. I really don't want to do that, so I'm going to give him until around Thursday. All pending Tally's approval of course :)
KHB, if you're reading this, plz drop me an email at mm2270@mac.com soon. We need to get things moving. Thx.
OM
Check for him online. I see him nightly...
Strange, I looked for him tonight. I must have just missed him.
I'll try again.
@OM: I sent ya an email with Kentuck's email addy. I'm content sitting on the sidelines and making comments this PS go around.
@Tally, the new font is still not a good small sized font.. Too bold, letters too squished together. Maybe kill the antialiasing at that size. Also, your changes have alterted the lovely subtlties of your burlap header pic...

Im gonna have to get one of those pixel bastards aye?
Da.... Or you could make the the lines wider and the whole font bigger. You want them old sluggy eyes to be able to read it.... Though you don't want that pic to get too big. Ahh the balancing act that is graphic design....
Yousa giving me a headache. :)
Since it's easier to scroll down, line thickness is not so much a problem for me. Due to gif rendering for bandwith considerations, it may not get better than this without - bigger type or bigger file.
Ive got an idea, but it has to wait till the weekend.
If youve got any, drop it on me.
Bolos team is now called the SHELL SHOCKERS!!!!!!!!!!! Beware we will get ya....
Why was y name takin off th rubes list
So now that I am FULLY aware that the Clonus vs Do Nothings is the 23rd (and are playing 30 matches evidently), when does Host next play? I need to make sure to cancel any funerals or surgeries or coups I've got planned for that day.
PS - And why do I suspect that I was the round 3 draft pick? *grin*
<whine>"I always get picked last!"</whine>

@Tally- the list got screwed up ya know. It's saying my team is Ben, TankGirl and Slugthog. Heh. I guess the names got shifted.
@56k- Tanks dude. You the man!
@Bolo- nice team name!
.Hmm, are we the last to come up with a name, Tally? Got a deadline? Otherwise either tonight or tomorrow before the typical PS game time...
@WeenTank, Though the team list is more readable. Other than the team name, the team members are currently incorrect. Consider it a work in progress.
@DJ, Steal the ball three times to let me know your there....
Team RUBES: 44, DJ_Breaka, WeenTank, PREY
WeenTank, I'd like to get you on the team email list. Please mail prey@noping.net
DJ Same. Let me know your out there and send me an email with the mail address you'd like to use for the season.
Games are expected to start Monday Night at 7pm PST Feb 23.
@TEAM Black Sheep. I'd like to adopt you as honorary PREY. Sheepels, with wolf hearts... Hmmm!

Aye, minor formatting issue; had to expand the text box, no worries.
Good work, mighty Ho.
It is somehow moving to see the name of Prey's team (The Rubes) for those who remember the infamous 'beware these rubes' thread. :)
Seems like a lifetime away...
Soon you will all be feeling the grip of "The Steel Corset".
(just thought I would try to add some kinda macho...look at me...thingy.)
Katherine
The Steel Corset?
<Pictures Tankgirl in steel corset.> Mmmmmmmm. Has a rather appealing amazon woman appeal to it.
<Pictures MajorPain in steel corset.> Errthat's just wrong!
<Pictures Ben in steel corset.> Stop! I can't take it anymore!
<Pictures Sluggouges eyeballs out.> Aieeeeeeee!!!!

@Tally, regarding the 4-4 or 3-3. After having read 240 posts in this thread it is not clear to me whether this issue has been decided or not. So here is my 2 cents.
The 4-4 needs to go away. Far too many problems introduced. "Mutual agreement" could even be an issue. We should not dillute a simple set of rules with variables that could cause a lot of trouble.
I will say this though, if each competition is 2 games, the odd man out should be rotated for each game.
Katherine.
