I considered adding game results/scores as well, but quite frankly I'm too lazy to dig up that info. :)

A) People will join in sets of 3. One team = 3 people. Thus, you will need to police yourselves. If someone you're considering for you team has sticky hours and you question their commitment / ability to play, you may want to consider not taking them on.
b) It will be up to the teams to host and organize their matches. Each round will proceed at one week intervals.
c) If you have a micro window of availability, consider not entering. Success of tournaments is contingent upon players' flexibility. In the event of a DNP, the team that has shown greater willingness and availability to play.
_____Rules Draft 0.1
1) 3-player teams are self-formed and then announced in the official thread. Post openings or interest in the official thread [when there is one], or form via in-game chat or email to ho.
2) Once the tourney commish has gathered a bracket-able number of announced full teams, a non-seeded single-elimination bracket will be randomly dealt. [I want a seeding process ]
3) The first round has a time-limit of 5 days. Each subsequent match round will have a time limit of one week. Set up a thread for your upcoming match so that each player on your team and your opponent's team can post available match times/days. You can do this by email, but the thread is better so that the commish can see who the delinquent team/player was in the case of a match not being played before the one-week deadline. The team that puts forth more of a flexible scheduling effort will move on to the next round.
4) Each match consists of 2 or more fifteen-minute games. Match scoring is in effect (win=2, tie=1, loss=0). As we have seen in PSL, splitting a two game match is quite common. Here, though, it would keep going until there is a winner. I would imagine this would result in a majority of matches resulting in 3 games. This can and did happen, so make sure your agreed-upon match start time leaves enough time for players to play at least three games. If you lose the first game of the match, the only way to prevent defeat is to win the second 15-minute game. *A tie will not do.*
5) If your team shows up to an agreed-upon match time with less than 3 players, you must play with the team you have at hand. Unless, for some graciously altruistic reason, your opponents decide to imitate doormats or have WAY too much time on their hands - or your no-show has an outstanding reason for no-showing - it can be rescheduled *within* the 1-week round window. If it cannot be rescheduled, the team that initially showed up at full strength will move on [see c above]
6) The two teams playing the match are responsible for setting up their own server (or talking a server God/dess into cranking one up for them). Mind the lag, folks -always opt for proven servers and keep in mind that remote or overseas players can call forth hordes of lag demons._____

Haha, I was referring to What's Going On, the song I was listening to at the time.

Lets get it on, sugar! Ooo, let's get it on.

*akward silence*.....*baby crys somewhere out in the distance*.....*scattered clapping*

This is how it's going to work: As soon as I hear from RNG that they're done waiting, I drop the hammer and a team gets eliminated. Period. I'll deal with the repercussions.

** EXTRA EXTRA***

SBC Advances!

Well, the games were played (kinda). They weren't the ideal situation but at least we did it.

After a lot of waiting around today we finally had most members in a server at one time! Pai and myself and all of SBC. We talked though the options and decided on a 2 on 2 match. Stan was honorable enough to step out (which he did not have to do) and the remaining tankers duked it out.
Part way through the first match Pai had computer issues and disconnected to reboot his comp. He returned a little while later and then left again shortly thereafter. Needless to say SBC easily took the 1st game.
Again showing great sportsmanship, wiz chose to sit out the second match making it 1 on 1, Triv vs myself. That was an intense battle. The game was tight up 'til the end when Triv gained a couple point lead and won the match.

Congrats to SBC!

Whatever... I think it was all bullshit anyway. They jerked us around for two weeks and when they knew demolition (our best player) couldn't play they finally all decided to show up...how convenient. I also made it clear that I had computer issues BEFORE the match and even tried rebooting before the restart to see if that would work and it obviously didn't. I kept getting disconnected and then connected... Not even the usual lag crapola that I can deal with. It was only 2-0 when I totally went belly up... By the time I got rebooted and back in the score was 11-0. By then my 2 year vomitted all over my leg and the office carpet. Told the guys I had no choice but to go.

Listen, this was a 3 on 3...not 2 on 2 or 1 on 1. SBC go ahead and enjoy your chicken shit victory. It won't last long cause Run and Gun will wipe the floor with you. The professor, napalm and mysteryman are in another league than you guys... No offense. I know and you guys know we would've beaten you at full strenght. I know because me and Sniper beat you three 2 on 3 several games in a row not that long ago. Did you forget that? Whatever...

You guys agreed to try Sunday at 5 pm.... Then it changed for some reason. I'm sick of this crap anyway. I've never dealth with more difficult people than these three.
I hope you get destroyed. I will enjoy watching the video replay too.

By the way, I challenge you turkeys to a match 3 on 3 when this tournament is done (which will be whenever you get smoked by the RunNGun). It might take months to get you prima donnas to arrange your schedules to play us, but we will be waiting for you. I want to back up what I say on the field. Are you up for it?

Saturday, March 05, 2005 at 5:25:55 PM

Also, MonkeeMan is not the captain and did not have the right to make any deals. I wanted to give demolition at least some say in the matter.

Saturday, March 05, 2005 at 5:31:54 PM

"You guys agreed to try Sunday at 5 pm.... Then it changed for some reason."
Pai, can you be more explicit about this?

Saturday, March 05, 2005 at 5:33:20 PM

Pai, you said you would not do 5pm EST Sunday.
That is why we did it today.

You never once mentioned comp issues before the match. If you were having problems then why did you agree to play then.

No, I am not the captain, but both captains were in attendance and all members decided to play then and there.

Saturday, March 05, 2005 at 5:39:18 PM

My son also kept jumping on and he must've typed something cause I don't recall changing the deal for sunday. Why would I? I knew demolition couldn't play tonight but could on Sunday. I just mentioned that I might not be able to play then but mm and demo could (and I have no doubt would've beaten them 2 on 2 or even 2 on 3).

Also, I did make it clear I had issue with my pc before the restart because I said I had serious lag issues and had to reboot first. You obviously missed it. Maybe BC has it on video? I've also resolved that kind of issue by a total shut down and reboot...but it didn't work this time. Doesn't matter now. It's done. SBC got a FB and will get crushed now by a much better team.

This entire side of the bracket was a joke from beginning to end.

Absolutely hilarious. Thanks guys.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

You've always been a sick puppy Rogue. Knew you would find the humor in this fiasco. Lol... Glad someone enjoyed this mess of a tournament.
The only good thing that came of it was the sole purpose for starting it.... To dethrone the champs. Congrats Ho, it worked. I just hope you, Reagent X and Lonewolf were the crown a little better and play a lot more challenges.

Saturday, March 05, 2005 at 8:11:22 PM

Don't be wearing that crown just yet.

Saturday, March 05, 2005 at 9:01:37 PM

It's 1 am here and I just got home, only to discover that my team lost while I was out. This deadline happened very quickly, it was passed out with less than 24 hrs to get the match done, and by then I had already made plans for today. I would have been available tomorrow (sunday) just about anytime. I 'm not sure what exactly happened today with the 2 on 2 thing and all the problems, but I have to be honest--I don't like how this whole thing went down. Trying to schedule with the European team was a joke. They gave us very limited availability, and then when the hammer gets thrown down, all of a sudden they are all available? Seems fishy. I suppose I would have also opted to play 2 on 2 given the circumstances today, but I just wish it could have waited until tomorrow if it would have been a 3 on 3. Oh well, there's always next time.

I was also disappointed when my match wasn't the expected 3 on 3. I have come to realize however that these are just long overdue pre-lims for a constant succession of title challenges. It ain't gonna be like last time where the winners never leave the award platform for a year.

In fact I think the tournament winners should post availablility and take on at least one challenge a week. Meanwhile, the rest of us can be staging informal 3 on 3 matches so that we can have a year of fun matches while the cream rises.

@ paisano (and to some extent Demolition too)

ALL IN ALL

I understand your frustration. Judging from what I've seen when meeting you in some pick-up games, you are two VERY good players (MonkeeMan as well) and your team would have also been really tough candidates to advance in the tournament. I'm also sorry for the part of this whole mess, that might have been caused by my team. Sorry!

That said, I can assure you by my heart, that this was never a fishy complot or any of the things you accused us for. You just got us wrong in the very beginning.

If you thoroughly read the thread, how it all went (line by line if you want), you will see that the scheduling problems weren't one-sided. Both of our teams had their difficulties in attendance. Again, I can only say that I'm sorry for our part of the troubles.

What I question, though, is the reason for letting out so much negative vibes.

I feel that we have NO reason at all to hate each other. Really. I mean, do we even know each other, anyway? Who knows, we might even LIKE each other, when it all comes to the crunch.

Heck, we might even be brothers. We're not 100% sure what our parents were doing back in the hippie days, are we..?!!

Furthermore, if you've got so little spare time for playing a game like this, going nuts if things doesn't work out too well with scheduling, my advice would be to put the game in the shelf for some week or two, getting some distance to it.

I'm not ironical here and DO believe me, when I say that I look forward in meeting you later on, bud. Since you're a good player and I'm drawn to good players, you're welcome to approach me again. Although with a more cheerful and open state of mind.

Feel free to mail me if you want and we could talk it over in a more relaxed manner.

Also:

By the way, I challenge you turkeys to a match 3 on 3 when this tournament is done

^ I'd love that.

@Wiz
Classy reply.... I want to apologize to everyone involved for my bitterness. I was the captain and obviously did not do a good job with scheduling this match...doesn't matter which side had more difficulty scheduling the match, I could have handled things better with Triv and everyone else.
I especially wet the bed last night. Should've made it clear that we were to play on Sunday and should not have taken the risk on a reboot that my pc problems would have gone away (as they usually do). Everything bad that could go wrong...did. Once again, sorry for the anger and poor sportsmanship. I appreciate that none of you three guys replied with similar anger or bitterness (which would've been understandable).
I think in the end I was more upset with myself and the whole process than you three. Hence my suggestion for a change in the format of future tournament (carving up the brackets into regions).

I look forward to playing with and against all of you guys.

Sunday, March 06, 2005 at 10:44:06 AM

Thanks. Hey, you took the high road when I was travelling down the highway to you know where. Reagent X is famous for doing the same thing... No matter how heated or ugly things get, Mr. X always takes the high road...the road less travelled these days. I will continue to try to control my Italian temper. I just wanted to make that semi final match so badly I could taste it.
Then again, I won't lie when I admit that I am not sad about not having to taste the Professor's lead!!! :)

You guys should do well. It will be a good battle.

@ paisano

I can't help but include one more important thing. I honour people like you, pai, who are actually able make a u-turn and also end up on the high road. Sometimes, for me, when things outside of TT turns dark, I have to say that I might even canalize it on other players in ThinkTanks. If not directly in words, then at least I have to admit I sometimes find myself sitting in a grey cloud of foul thoughts, even cooking up sinister plans about various players. I believe it's a normal occurrence, tightly knit into the human behavior.

In a TT perspective, I think that's what we are here for, isn't it?! To help loosen whatever burdens our fellow tankers might be carrying and eventually help tackle the problematic things that each one of us might experience in their everyday life. Hence, I mean to say that everyone should have the right to occasionally let their anger out on anyone in here, if only they were as upright as you, paisano, to undo what they regret.

Not only would you have won the game that we never really got to play properly. You also won my respect, for being the one you are.

Wow... Never, ever, did I think that these mere $20 would give me such a great, personally experiencing value. This game is just getting better and better. Maybe it's the salvation for the whole mankind %) ?

@SBC vs. TWM:

Hey guys...I think you took what I posted above the wrong way. I am not saying I think you purposely dodged us and then showed up at the last minute in order to gain some kind of advantage. What I AM saying is that I don't like how things went down. I didn't like the scheduling nightmare that we encountered and I don't like the fact that my team lost when I was not there. I don't like the fact that I'm out of this tournament and I haven't lost. I don't have any hard feelings toward you guys--it's not your fault, and I'm still not sure exactly what should have happened when Pai had to leave to reboot. It sounds like some of those victories are pretty hollow. I know if it were me, I wouldn't feel right beating a team that way. Pai, one of the things I respect about you is that you are very competetive, but you don't lose your cool. I wanted to win too, but there were just too many things that were out of control in this tournament. Don't take it personally. We'll eventually get our chance to show the world what a real scrum team looks like. It's only a matter of time. Until then, my team is willing to take out any other 3 on 3 team in pick up games. I look forward to playing with/against all of you.

Sunday, March 06, 2005 at 8:22:56 PM

@Demo
Thanks. I know how much it hurts, bro, being out of the tourny when we never really got beat. I would feel so much better if we had lost than go out this way...go out with a bang rather than a wimper...huh? Again, as captain, I dropped the ball/scrum. I will chalk it up to a valuable TT life lesson that I will never repeat. There will be many more tournaments/leagues/games...so don't give up hope. We will get another shot at the championship some day soon.

@Wiz
Thanks for the kind words. I still wish I never reacted the way I did about the way my team was eliminated, but all we can do in life (virtual or real) is own up to our actions, apologize and vow never to repeat it. If we're lucky, then we will be forgiven and given another chance...as I have been here. Shoot, ask Reagent X how many times he's forgiven me!!! :)

lol..thanks...I guess. Hey, don't be a bigot and stereotype me as just another ginny wop! I did not ever own or drive an IROQ! I preferred my Cadillac Coupe De Ville and Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme Classic Broham! Yes, I wore gold chains (still do), but that's besides the point!!! :)

LOL...a coupe de ville kinda guy huh? Ever since picking up thinktanks, I try to drive with my head poking up through the sunroof. Little tip from me to you, learned the hard way, if your caddie ever starts spewing heavy exhaust fumes, driving it off of a cliff is not a good solution.

Memo to everyone involved:
Next time we have this 3 on 3, when the time is up, one team will be eliminated. If the other team is equally negligent in not getting it done, I'll throw them the heck out too.
No time extensions, no special cases.

Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11:58:25 AM

Hell I thought it was over. Who won?

Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 4:50:16 PM

@Pais, like it or not, Hanky, and Bo Jangles remains undefited. By backing out of this tourney they forfiet their rights to maintain their championship. But they lost it by a tecnicaliity, which to me is kind of cheap. If they were going to lose their title, I for one would've like to have seen them lose it by getting beat in a fair and square match of Team Scrum. What I proposed would've given the opportunity for that.

I guess some others in this tourney are not feeling as good about it as I did. The two matches my team were in were smooth like butter. I'm sorry to see that you guys are having such a hard time with scheduling and stuff. That kind of sucks. We didn't have any of those problems.

I remember in the previous 3 on 3 tourney, there was also some scheduling issues. In fact, a hand full of teams got DQed because of it. Azezels 2 on 2 tourney (which was the tourney that started this whole thing) was never even finished because of scheduling issues between Az, FP, Hanksta, and Jangy.

Whoa whoa. Hold your horses here. KSJ...? RNG...? Who were they?

As far as I'm concerned, it's all written in the stars - new champions will be the SBC's (Swift Border Collies).
