I considered adding game results/scores as well, but quite frankly I'm too lazy to dig up that info. :)

A) People will join in sets of 3. One team = 3 people. Thus, you will need to police yourselves. If someone you're considering for you team has sticky hours and you question their commitment / ability to play, you may want to consider not taking them on.
b) It will be up to the teams to host and organize their matches. Each round will proceed at one week intervals.
c) If you have a micro window of availability, consider not entering. Success of tournaments is contingent upon players' flexibility. In the event of a DNP, the team that has shown greater willingness and availability to play.
_____Rules Draft 0.1
1) 3-player teams are self-formed and then announced in the official thread. Post openings or interest in the official thread [when there is one], or form via in-game chat or email to ho.
2) Once the tourney commish has gathered a bracket-able number of announced full teams, a non-seeded single-elimination bracket will be randomly dealt. [I want a seeding process ]
3) The first round has a time-limit of 5 days. Each subsequent match round will have a time limit of one week. Set up a thread for your upcoming match so that each player on your team and your opponent's team can post available match times/days. You can do this by email, but the thread is better so that the commish can see who the delinquent team/player was in the case of a match not being played before the one-week deadline. The team that puts forth more of a flexible scheduling effort will move on to the next round.
4) Each match consists of 2 or more fifteen-minute games. Match scoring is in effect (win=2, tie=1, loss=0). As we have seen in PSL, splitting a two game match is quite common. Here, though, it would keep going until there is a winner. I would imagine this would result in a majority of matches resulting in 3 games. This can and did happen, so make sure your agreed-upon match start time leaves enough time for players to play at least three games. If you lose the first game of the match, the only way to prevent defeat is to win the second 15-minute game. *A tie will not do.*
5) If your team shows up to an agreed-upon match time with less than 3 players, you must play with the team you have at hand. Unless, for some graciously altruistic reason, your opponents decide to imitate doormats or have WAY too much time on their hands - or your no-show has an outstanding reason for no-showing - it can be rescheduled *within* the 1-week round window. If it cannot be rescheduled, the team that initially showed up at full strength will move on [see c above]
6) The two teams playing the match are responsible for setting up their own server (or talking a server God/dess into cranking one up for them). Mind the lag, folks -always opt for proven servers and keep in mind that remote or overseas players can call forth hordes of lag demons._____
the management
7) No switching sides.

Ben

Or we let the "Miracle on Lush" and the semi-upset of the champs by the Europeans take place.

Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 3:24:16 PM

Yes, will help out those champs since!!!!! They replaced MM fo rme! Np!

Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 3:31:11 PM

Fatlips makes sense because he is actually already on the champs team (as their BM leader)! So it seems perfect that he is available and ready to fill in for hanky!
Do you think they will go for that?

Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 4:13:19 PM

A new champion team will be formed to make the play date...

Hugobrain:

Will team with Flea and PREY:

Our team will be known as: Wash in Cold Water

Ummm... Rainbow sheep just wouldn't cut it

Get 'er done.

NEWS RELEASE: Considering the recent events, THE CHAMPS have pulled out of the tourney. Bolo and I discussed possibly replacing Tanky with another, but it wouldn't be fair to him and, quite frankly, he's irreplaceable. We suggest you carry on with the tourney, enjoy yourselves, and we'll gladly take on the winners when Tanky gets back.

Oh, and to whoever does win this, relish the fanfare whilst you can, 'cause you know, we know, and everyone else knows, it sure as hell won't last. You have to beat THE CHAMPS in order to become THE CHAMPS.

Me thinks the winner of this thing are THE CHAMPS. If a team had beat Pats, and then that team lost to the Eagles, would not the Eagles be the Super Bowl champs, even though they had not directly beaten the previous champs? I sense Canadian logic afoot, eh ;)

Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 6:42:31 AM

I smell a big fat champ forfeiture.

Congrts to the tourney winners.

Ok, now that the dead weight has been dropped (no offence), lets set a date for which team we play next. It's time to get this dusty Fartbag running again!

BTW you are the champs of the previous tourney. This tourney you don't rank. You will have to come back and beat the new champs. Champs are only champs if the team is in tact and they successfully defend the title. Substitutions and forfeits are not considered wins. If a heavyweight champ retired or died then he is the former champ. You can't a title you never defend. Just my thoughts.

This is some good PR/Marketing. Self-Help Book: 'How to pretend to be a Champ by having won 3 games in the last year', written by Bolo. Preface by HankyTanky. Illustrated by Jangles. ;)

@ PREY/FB. Do you need me for real? :o

Ben

Farewell to the TFSC: The Former Semi Champs. Come back and beat us next year (cough cough snort).

Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 10:27:00 AM

Wow - this is now the 2nd tourney in a row that these guys have not completed as a threesome! Sorry to hear that they have chosen to cling to the past (and each other) rather than to participate and mix it up with the community. :( But I have to say I am not surprised. Anything to keep the old story going!

Jangles, Bolo, and Hanksta are the champs of the 2004 3 on 3 tourney! The results of this tourney will NEVER change that!!!

Jangles and Bolo, If hanksta can't be on the team this year, then find a replacement!!! Don't back out like a bunch of sissies!!!

Hanksta will unerstand. This doesn't take away your crown for winning the 2004 Tourney! This is different man!!! I think he would want you to move on and try to win, with or without him!!!

Last year, I couldn't participate in the tourney for very similar reasons that hanksta can't participate this year. That's an irony of life man... Go with the flow!!! Next year will be different, and the year after that... Who knows...

I'm sure zIMP would be happy to fill in... Or send Cadc and e-mail... He's good! And interested in joining!!!

I agree with Deej/Stealth. Remember what happened last year, champs? Bolo stepped in and replaced your original third player and the rest became history.
So, history could repeat itself. Just replace hanky with another member of your champs team, Fatlips! He is the best gunner in TT and has become a hot scrummer too in no time at all.
I think it's meant to be because he couldn't make our team's first round match, so maybe his destiny was to play on the champs team. You guys are in a no lose situation!
Think about it... If you lose, then you can always say that your team was not the real champs because you didn't have hanky...however, if you win, well then you will have retained your crown with another player...thus silencing all of your critics...well except for me and Tally Ho anyway. :)

Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 4:31:33 PM

I agree w/ Paisano... Or you wil be known as the QUITTERS... NOT THE CHAMPS!! ;)

Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 8:06:18 PM

We suggest you carry on with the tourney, enjoy yourselves, and we'll gladly take on the winners when Tanky gets back.

And why would the champs of the current 3-3 want to play against some has-beens? Here's a banana, feed your gorilla sized egos.

Ben

I just puked.

Edit: ALL HAIL THE 3 ON 3 PICKUP CHAMPS! THEY TOTALLY OWN ANYONE WHO'S WILLING AND ABLE TO PLAY BETWEEN 1 AND 5 A.M. EST (NO LATER OR EARLIER CAUSE THEY HAVE LIVES). GIVE EM RESPECT OR STFU. Y'ALL AREN'T WORTHY, ESPECIALLY THE ONES (LIKE MYSELF) WHO HAVE PLAYED FOR 9-10 MONTHS MORE THAN BOLO. LICK HIS SHOES FOO'S.

Edit: I just puked reading my edit.

Whatever champs... I was amused by you all and I did have some respect.. Casue lets face it... We all have lives and im no argueing that... Us FU's have made more then our share of "lets re-schedules" but its a frickin 3 on 3 tourny with the outcome being the ne champs... I meen come on.. How lame is this.. All we are asking is 30mins of your time per week for a few weeks.. As demanding as my drinking schedule is.. I have found time.. And so should all that enter.. Or face the rath of "your a drop out" and "no longer will you be respected" Im full for the band wangon of middle fingers in the air and top of lungs FU's to you all...

The only thing that isn't 'deserving' here is for anyone to actually dignify you 3 whining chickens by playing you in the first place and letting you into any other tournaments from here on out.

I have some thoughts on this:
Not so much pointed at the wonderful, always entertaining backstep dancing champions.

In some of the past threads I read that the champs are supposed to defend their title at least once a month and something just doesn't sit correctly with me. I'm not at all saying there should be what currently going on but here's my thoughts.

The tournament is structured in that, each team has to beat other teams on the journey to the championship match. It's not just a one match outcome.
So why after the tournament is finished can others challenge the champs to another match? The entire tournament style of elimination is just tossed out the window at that point.
My point is; lets say in the tourney a team lost in the first round. Ok, they are out. After the tourney is over they challenge the New Champs. Somehow they win. So now after only two games they are the new champs? This does not add up for me.

I personally think if you win the tourney
YOUR THE CHAMPS. DONE!

You now need to be availabe to defened (and actually show up for matches) your title in another tournament. If you don't make the tourney your the former champs. We can now forget about you.
Kinda like a fart really.
Currently your makng a stink, and everyone knows you're there. In a few, you'll fade away and be forgotten. Make stinky again, and we'll again notice.

No more were the champs until we can paly another match a couple of years from now.
I have purchased one of these for each of the former champs. I will consider upgrading to the power unit for those too lazy to pedal for themselves.

Monday, February 28, 2005 at 9:27:07 AM

LOL Bolo, Not worthy? OMG, you're the most arrogant, egotistical, supercilious, conceited, pompous, excuse for a sportsman in the history of gaming.

Sore losers suck, but sore winners are the worse! Any respect I had for you is now GONE!!!

You're not worthy of the title "Champ"... I say we strip it from you for unsportsmanlike conduct!

All if favor, say yay!

Fact is... Jangy, Hanksta and yourself actually LOST the 2004 3 on 3 tourney. But you whined like little babies and complained so much about this that and the other, that the TRUE WINNERS of the 2004 3 on 3 TS tourney (Ben, Dar, and 56k Lag Man) offered you a rematch. They didn't have to do that, but out of good sportsmanship, they did.

For now on, as far as I'm concerned, THEY'RE THE 2004 3 ON 3 TOURNEY CHAMPS!!!

WHO WILL ANSWER THE BINGO CHALLENGE???

Monday, February 28, 2005 at 12:58:36 PM

Blame it on the dude reading off the Bingo balls....cough cough...the commish...

Monday, February 28, 2005 at 3:18:57 PM

@ deej - for the record it was Ben, dar and LC50 :)

@ all - yeah it sucks they cant play, everyone was psyched to take them down.
Not sure how much blame can be put on jangles and bolos doorstep tho.

At the end of the day, at the end of the 3 on 3 tournament, we all know that for them to be dethroned in the actual sense, they will have to be beaten.

Thats not to take away from the glory of winning this current tournament, as the competition is fierce.
Those winners will be winners to be sure.

But at the end of the day, we all know....

Monday, February 28, 2005 at 4:01:00 PM

No problems loosing to ya'll though, Congrats!!

Screenshot of the scores, KSJ - FUH? Or how was the scores?

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

I see some of the comments about "respect" have been deleted. I just wanted to add:

To me, in this game community of ours, respect is the sum of two components:

Respect = X*(Skill level within the game) + Y*(a person's behavior inside and outside of the game)

For me personally Y>X. B)

LC50... That's right...

To whom it may concern... I'm sorry if I let my anger get the best of me in my last post. I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I didn't think about it until after I made the post, but maybe Bolo was just joking by those comments. If that's the case, I'm sorry... Otherwise... I'd have to second Ben's notion...

Incase anyone is wonder what coments I'm referring to, here it is...
