@ All,

Imperators: Oh the Imps! The Imperators (0-5) represent the effects of Murphys Law on TBML. Attendance, lack of interest, email problems, work, biting insects, and other maladies have plagued this team. We tried, and will continue to try, to get this team healthy. Everyone owes them a big thanks for sticking with it. With attendance improving and Banshee doing a great job of organizing the team, this team may make trouble for a few of the teams.

I am writing this post in appreciation of the work that Banshee has put to pull this team together up to this point in the league. Not an easy job, as LC50 stated, I guess it also didn't help last week when one of our team members left half way through a league battle match. We are the underdogs, however don't under estimate our strength - Quittter, Deliriot, Banshee, Wil, Leader of the µ³². You will all notice a different team attitude at all games now. We have our cheerleaders supporting us at everygame, Imperator Cheergirls .

So what is the future of the Imperators??? Well that's easy look at the end of our turrets. LOL.

@LC

Great job on the mid-season review. Some will agree with it, some will disagree with it, some will just keep on playing to prove you wrong XD

Great games all & looking forward to the 2nd half of the season

FatChick,

Thanks for the nice glass of whine. XD

Seriously, I'm glad to see that you are motivated enough to step up and defend against what you may have percieved as a slam on you/your team. (Not that I want every player in the league bitching about my midseason review now... See MOE's post... That's the right attitude to have). My opinions are just opinions and are not directed at anyone in particular, and have no value in themselves. They are based on what limited info I garner from the games I've played in, looking at the scores, and getting feedback from captains and players.

We can aggree to disagree, and I'll see ya on the field! Good luck to all the players and teams!

Imperators???

What does that mean, anyway?

Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 1:19:36 PM

Lc50,

Thanks fro the midseason reveiw. You do a great job. A few thoughts though....

@ imperators... True they have struggled but now have added a few well respected newcomers (lauryn another plug for you). I for one am not looking past the "lovable limps" as an underdog is always dangerous especially in a spoiler role. Plus, mathematically they are not out of it yet.

@zombies...i was truly surprised about the outcome of our match ( judging from the results your team has gotten ) I expect we didnt get your A-game for whatever reason. The rematch should prove to be much more interesting.

@rest...the rats 2 losses were also a great surprise but I think it just shows the balance the league has. All the teams can be dangerous, no team can be taken lightly (or heavy as in your case lc50-lol)

Well all have faced each other now and I expect the second time through the lineup will be even more challenging and difficult for everyone. Im sure all will be raising their level of play. Cant wait...havin a blast getting blasted.

Hey Rabban, I wondered that same thing myself, but I figured it out on my own. Im.per ato'r (im-pr-a-tôr),(Rom. Antiq.), adj., one who imperates. Just got done with one, I think. If I find out different, I'll let you know.

LC50 's Pregame Preview, brought to you by Magic 8 Ball

Week 6

Magic 8 Ball Question of the week: Can the Desperados stop the Metal Slicerz? Magic 8 Ball's Answer: AS I SET IT, YES

First week of the rematches, with teams facing opponents for a second time this season. However, the tables are turned, as what was blue is now green, and vice versa. Let's hope we don't have server problems again this week. Keep your fingers crossed.

.

A: Favorite: The Desert Rats, Underdog: Zombie Squadron, Spread: 3

One of these 2nd-place teams is going to end up in 3rd after this game. Their last game was a 1-point squeaker in favor of the Rats. Both teams are coming off stinging losses, however, the Rats are desperate to break a 2-game loosing streak. Can the ZS pick themselves off the floor after last week's debacle? The Magic 8 Ball sides with the Rats for another close game.

.

B: Favorite: Devil's Brigade, Underdog: Imperators , Spread: 10

After last week's win over the Rats, the Devil's Brigade has some momentum, and they need this win to keep their playoff dreams alive. The Imperators are still getting better each week, and they will keep the game intense.

.

C: Favorite: Metal Slicerz, Underdog: Desperados, Spread: 13

For some reason, the Magic 8 Ball just doesn't like the Slicerz (see Question of the Week). Against all better judgement, I have to overrule the 8-Ball and side with the Slicerz. The Desperados are a tough team, but won't be able to contain the Slicerz this week.

I second that! Try to play every game with the same maturity and good sportmanship you exhibit in the league games. Lead by example. After asking the meatheads to stop team kiling, ignore them or leave the server for another one. Do not feed the trolls with name calling, it only encourages more team killing. I usually leave the server (without really saying anything) for another server, and in a few minutes, the "good people" tend to follow.

If we only had the script that -z- uses for team killers in CTF, all of this would be a moot point. We should probably start a separate thread on Team Killing, cause I think this can of worms would quickly fill this thread.

LC50

Tuesday, May 04, 2004 at 12:16:48 PM

I think we should just call the team killers out and the rest of us on the opposing team can make a point of "gang banging" them until they leave. If the other team leaves "us" alone while we are repeatedly wasting the team killer it shouldnt take long before the point is had.

Dorko

Tuesday, May 04, 2004 at 1:26:01 PM

I like the idea of everyone going after the team killer.

I have in the past asked everyone not to shoot me and have gone after the killer. This seems to work because the killer is now busy fending me off.

They usually give up after a while and leave.

Calling them a coward seems to effect them versus swearing at them.

Problem 8(

Well, we had plenty of available servers last night (thanks to -z-, dash, Reagent X, and Chan), but our game still did not get started till about 9:20PM eastern. This was because several members of the DR wanted to wait for other player(s) to show up. When I proposed to start a 4 on 4 match at about 9:10, there was much whining from the DR. This is unacceptable. People need to start the game on time... Latecomers can join in when they get there. It's in the rules.

I speak for others beside myself who have a limited amount of time to play. Server problems are a little out of our control (somewhat), but simply refusing to play because you want to wait another 10 additional minutes past 9:10 is BS.

If games cannot get started on time, I won't be able to play in the league any longer. I'll be happy to continue organizing my team and keeping up with scores, but I'd rather bow out completely than have to leave my team in the middle of a game because I wasted 20 minutes waiting for Godot.

I don't want apologies or excuses. Show up 5-10 minutes early on a server, cut the "Hi how are ya, how's the family" chatter, test the lag, and be prepared to start no later than about 9:05. This isn't a new idea... It's in the rules that were distributed at the beginning of the season.

Thanks,

LC50

8o Problem,

I plead somewhat guilty to last nites delay, basically due to being out of town and my pc rebooted at 903 due to a yahoo conflict, I did hold up game somewhat, again apologize for this. However as a regular practice we are ready at 8:45 every game time, the biggest issue we are experiencing trouble with is the lag issue, which has been a serious detrement to most close games. And this is what we are finding is causing game start delay, for those who are time constrianted suggest follow the lead of the rats and be there early, we will start on time if we can get everyone to agree on the lag issue.

Other matters--- I would suggest the magic ball be used for lottery ticket purchases and when do we start the lottery pool.

8( Problem

This is neither an apology nor an excuse, as neither is in order:

I understand the concern with the "tardiness", but as lep mentioned the rats are typically on time. I felt LC50s push to start the game was more to get a competitive advantage, and not advanced in good faith. Most of us had all seen lep in the server PRIOR to 9pm, so it was only natural to wait for him. I have NEVER seen a game start on time, so I assume 10-15 min is par for the course. Not saying it is right, it just "is". And is 15min a terrible amount of time to wait for a truly competitive match? During busy season, when I work 70 hours a week, I managed to wait 20-25 min for a league match once. So, a mere matter of 15min seems like chump change to me.

I am sure no one "wanted" to wait...is just seemed like good sportsmanship. I would certainly prefer the match to start on time, but hey, stuff happens. In defense of TDR...

I'm not on LC's Side Nor Rats,

@ YOU RATS NEED TO START ON TIME, ever heard of this LINE ( BE PUNCTUAL, BE ON TIME) -LC did not try to get a competitive advantage, his time is very limited, and still finds time to organize the league,... And he only asks you guys to BE ON TIME>... You guys can't even do that... GRRRRRRR

NEXT GAME if you guys are late again, MY TEAM WILL AUTOMATICALLY WINS.. OK?

@ALL, PLEASE L@@K AT THE ABOVE CHART.... Speak only when you're on TOP, otherwise, ZIP IT....

It looks like DESERT RATS are celebrating, cuz they're trailing by 1 VICTORY, BUT THIS WILL CHANGE AFTER NEXT WEEK,

DESERT RATS DESPERATELY want the 2nd position in the championship... It looks like their 2nd spot is secured..... Dont celebrate just YET RATS,... Last game we faced, SLICERZ lost to DESERT RATS by 3 points, because they CHEATED.... They planned some bug in the server, unfortuntely I stepped on that bug and got infected, and caused me to lag, the lag of the century, THIS WONT HAPPEN AGAIN, Because I will not play in your server, this time, you guys play in OUR SERVER baby... We played in yours once, now it's your turn to play in ours.....

---------------

BTW- LC, why you put my Friend IMPS down on the bottom of that chart??? Please correct that, they belong right under SLICERZ.. Not the rats...

This is in response to the Post by LC50

LC I understand that you are upset at your loss BUT. The Rats were indeed all present and accounted for at 9pm eastern time. It was in fact YOU that did not want to use the server we were on. We then went in search of a new server and once we found one not all the players could see it including players from your team. We waited for all players to get in becuase it's the decent thing to do. In fact I was knocked out of the first game about half way through and could not get the server to show up again. So your team was playing the Rats 5 to 4 for 1 and 1/2 games. Lag was not even an issue.

In fact it wasn't until we moved to the new server and you saw that not all our people had found it that you wanted to start the game to have an unfair advantage over us. Well you got your wish. 5 to 4 and you still lost.

We got pretty upset over our last 2 losses but rather than attack others and blame anyone we took it on the chin. You're a nice guy and a good player, but you need to learn to lose with grace.

Crow - TDR

Thursday, May 06, 2004 at 4:30:30 AM

@ All,

Suggestion: - A couple of days prior to each match captains should get together, and agree on a server to use on match day, as well as a back up server. At this point the server would be tested, as this would minimize games not starting on time.

Crow: I'm referring to the 10 minutes we were wating on the 2nd server. When I suggested we start the game, we had 4 ZS and 4 DR. So, no advantage. Lancer had been in earlier, but he didn't show up on the 2nd server either, so I expected him and Leopard to join us whenever they could make it.

But rather than attack others and blame anyone we took it on the chin. You're a nice guy and a good player, but you need to learn to lose with grace.

Man, you don't know me. The rats did a great job and still soundly beat us despite being outnumbered 5 to 4. I'm not pissed that we lost; it was a fun game and you guys deserved the win. I've lost plenty of games (even league games) to weaker opponents under bad circumstances. My angst comes from the fact that my schedule (and several others who have expressed their concerns to me directly) is limited and delaying games 10 minutes just to wait on someone is not acceptable. I'm not just bitching for me: there are other players on other teams that have the same feelings. I'm not attacking the rats, you, or anyone else in particular. Despite your negative comments towards me, I bear you no ill will for jumping into the middle of this. I'm not looking for any more insults or continued arguments over what did and didn't happen (everyone probably has their own version of the story to tell);I only wish this flame war to end. I'd like people to be aware of the problem and make a little more effort towards the situation.

I don't know the solution to this problem, but I do know that showing up on the game server 5-10 minutes early helps, as does accepting the fact that sometimes you might be outnumbered for a few minutes until the latecomer makes it.

Lauryn-- good idea, but the usual server problem is that the servers aren't up until the last minute. Also, in most servers you don't notice serious lag issues until at least 7-8 people are present. That might be a point to consider for future leagues: it might be good to try a 3-on-3 league or tourney for this summer's league (as long as we have the interest and participaton). With only 6 players per server, it would enable even those with cheap/low bandwidth DSL or cable connections to host.

@start time

I dont think any blame needs to be or is being cast here...but its not a major thing to ask everyone to show up on time. I myself have been late but accepted the fact that it was my teams burden to bear, not the others. I do know that the problem is mostly finding an acceptable server and trying to communicate to the rest of the players what is going on. Lc50 does alot for all of us so we should respect when he brings up an issue and give it consideration. Lets just all give a concerted effort to be more timely and move on to blasting each other in the games..not the forums.

LC50 I don't recall giving you any negative comments and did not intend it to sound that way but you're post really made it sound as if the Rats had played unfairly. It would be unfair to switch servers and not wait for everyone to find it. There is nothing unfair about asking for consideration to get everyone on the same page. If we start a rule that says the games have to start exactly on time then there are going to be alot of games decided by who was able to get most of their players in to the correct server on time. Not by who is the better team. I have no problem waiting for an opposing team to get their act together and I know we've done it in every game I've played so far.

...

Bolo? Could you kiss more a$$ if you tried? Get off you knees man. I like LC50 and stated that in my post. I don't need you to remind me of a damn thing.

@ All,

I Just wanted to point out the obvious, then again girl logic can be rather.... Hmmm... We all know when the league games are scheduled each week, so I thought this would make it easy to pre-arrange servers or am I missing the point here. Also, we are half way through the season, so we should also know which servers are the ones that are less likely to cause lag suring a game, and also who supplies those servers.

@LC.... LC...... LC.... Been waiting for your 8-ball magic game-preview...

Post them here, cuz I want to see the rats go down..

My own preview-

Team A Slicerz VS Desert Rats: SLICERZ WIN-by 14 points spread.....

TEAM B ZOMBIES VS IIMPERATORS: ZOMBIES WIN by-2 points

TEAM C DEVILS BRIGADE VS DESPERADOS: DEVILS WIN by-5 points.....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this tuesday night, we wont have problems like the last few games.... LAG seems to be the biggest problem right now, I suggest everyone should be present at game servers around 8:45PM EASTERN to test the servers... If servers provided by PTT are lagtacular, we can try our players' servers... We need to solve the lag problem before 9:10PM, the game should START , START,START,START no later than 9:10PM... Regardless of attendance, or what so ever.. We need to get it going on time..... This message is strictly applies to the "RATS", cuz I think they will try to cheat, they wont show up as a whole , and they will make us wait until one of our players leave.... Hehehehehe, they will also try to host and that gives the hoster an advantage... Well, if it comes to HOSTING, My team will host.. Because, almost every game played, RATS hosted...

If PTT's server is not suitable, I wont let any of them "RATS" host.. IS THAT CLEAR RATS????? I know right now, they are plotting a scam... Heheeheeheheheeehheehe.... Well... Facing a team like SLICERZ, I dont blame them plotting scams...... Enough said.. I gotta go pee..

Tuesday rats.. Beware rats are going down once more..

LC50 's Pregame Preview, brought to you by Magic 8 Ball

Week 7

Magic 8 Ball Question of the week: Can the Zombie Squadron pick itself back up? Magic 8 Ball's Answer: REPLY HAZY, TRY AGAIN

Magic 8 Ball Question of the week: Can the Zombie Squadron pick itself back up? Magic 8 Ball's Answer: YES

Look for some hot tank-on-tank volcano action this week as the top 2 teams go head to head in perhaps one of the most important matches of the season! It's gonna be a meltdown, baby!

.

A: Favorite: Zombie Squadron, Underdog: Imperators, Spread: 5

Zombie Squadron tries to break it's 2-game losing streak against a continually improving Imperators team itching to play the spoiler role. It will be a close game, but the ZS will prove that it's not down and out yet.

.

B: Favorite: Metal Slicerz, Underdog: The Desert Rats, Spread: 9

This is the game to watch if we had room in the server for spectators. The Slicerz will ride the volcano to a victory over the Rats. After this baptism by fire, the Slicerz will now be unstoppable. Tankor's head may never again be able to fit into his tank. :)

.

C: Favorite: Desperados, Underdog: Devil's Brigade, Spread: 10

Coming off an impressive show against the Metal Slicerz, the Desperados won't have too much trouble with the Devil's Brigade. Expect the attendance monster to bite the DB hard this week, who are in desperate need of players (if you know a mature, reliable person, send them quickly to leopardtt@yahoo.com).

@LC, To be honest, I like this week's Pre-game Preview, all those other weeks your 8-ball was kind of sloppy, a glitch may have caused it to go wild... But it sounds right this week, however, the point spead wont be 9, more like 19, from what I'm sensing, Slicerz will own Desert Rats by at least 9 points first game, second game probably 5 or so...... I just got some new tanks coming in.. Specifically customized for SLICERZ... LOL....

HEY, I WANT T-SHIRTS for my guys OK??? Please order 6 ThinkTanks T-Shirt, Sizes are : 1-Medium, 3-Large,2-Small, 1-extra small.. Extra small is for me...
