******************************The Cuddly Teddy Bears
*************************Summer Scrum Champions**************************
*********************************** ******************************************************
***************************************************************************

This will be a 4 on 4 tournamnet
This will be a set day and time Wednesday nights at 09:30 Eastern Time)

Games will start Wednesday JUNE 1st 9:30 EST, Finals will be played on August 3rd 2005

We will utilize the home team concept as in Psycho Scrum. Home teams will be required to host their games.
Each match consists of 2 games. Match scoring will be used like last season (W = 2 pts, L = 0 pts, T = 1 pt, W both games = 1 extra point).

I think this is a great oppertunity to introduce some new maps that are a bit on the extreme side. We can include some great maps by Rooster, Dash, Monkee Man, Crapblaster, Triv, Wiz, KBC, MAX CR, Wiz, and myself.
This should add a lot of variety and keep things interesting.

******This will require installing the Expansion Pack and the Mod_Pack to eliminate downloads and wait time.*****

Cuddly Teddy bears will all snuggle up on MMLush21 for their home field.

Monday, May 30, 2005 at 12:15:46 PM

The fun guys will be funn'in it up on Home field (Sisu-land)(Wiz/Triv)/Temporal Terrace)

Monday, May 30, 2005 at 12:19:05 PM

Special Ed have selected DB3 "The Bologna Pony" for their home field.

Monday, May 30, 2005 at 12:20:34 PM

Can I have a clarification regarding the above 3 download/expansion packs.
Are all 3 needed? Are they the same at different sites?
Couldn't we just have one complete pack to download?
The simpler things are, the less options, the less people mess up...

Monday, May 30, 2005 at 1:19:41 PM

Well MonkeeMan Is releasing MM_Lush25 soon, will that be able to be a home field??

The Mod pack is Reagent's collection of all of the terrains.

The expansion pack is a collection of additional objects such as trees and rocks, and textures. Some terrains are inlcluded to the point in time the pack was created.

The PsycoScrum 8.5 is the same as any PsycoScrum pack in which it contains the terrains and mission files for teams to be able to host their home filed terrain.

Same as always just 1 additional pack, the expansion pack, which is a one-time deal.

If people installed the mod pack, then only hostes would need the PsycoScrum 8.5 pack for the mission files. Everyone else can omit the pack. I did it as a convenience for everyone, not to make things any more difficult.

I just put up a 6 map rotation of all our maps! I just renamed the mission files TT1_1.mis through TT1_6.mis and set it to run GREEN. I also replaced the special.cs file that Nappy included in the map_pack. Please let me know if there is any problems.

Also we need each team to be prepared to host their own Home games. Please make sure you are ready to go! If you need the averaging script you can get it at www.reagentx.com.

Nap, questions for you about the Siberia map. There are spawns that send you straight down a pit and kill you. I spawned there three times in a row. Is this gonna be fixed? Also, are the goals in the air going to remain that way?

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 6:06:04 AM

That is a by product of the spawns being goals. I don't kow why people are making a big deal over lofted goals. Teams now try to clear the goal for their own to score. In this scenario teams will need to clear the jump pad instead. I see this as just an additional level of complexity. It's not like the gaols don't work. It just requires a pad to access it. What's wrong with that? We played on that map for the last two days and I heard of no complaints. Yes, I too spawn in one of the pits. Again that's because the goal is over a pit. It should be equal across teams. I have no plans to change the map. In any consolation your team only plays once on the map. It's supposed to be a light, fun, summer league, relax and enjoy the games..

@ numofgamea
Not sure what happen last night due too I didn't get home until 730CST but it looks like no one found any one for practice yesterdays practice :o

Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 6:44:13 AM

Here's why we don't like it. Spawning in a pit just adds to the numerous free goals given to either team simply through bad or good luck, depending on which team you're on. Goals are at a premium on such a large map and spawnng will be more key than on other maps. Mid-air goals slow a game and create pile ups at a pad. I personally don't mind the camp figthts. But, after you get cleared from a pad camp fight you then have a good chance of spawning in a pit.

In simple terms your map added more luck to a game that already contains quite a bit.

Don't get me wrong Nap I think the graphics look great. I just think it needs to be made more practical. The MM and DB mods are so popular because of their fast play. I think your maps would be used more if they incorporated your ideas with what the MM and DB maps have already accomplished.

Just one Ed's opinion.

I absoutely appreciate the comments and reviews of the maps. I have listened to each of the reviews and have packed them in my tiny little brain. When I start creating new maps I am going to pay more attention to playability, reduce the elevational changes, (at least the very extreme ones) and reduce the number of lofted goals. I'm not taking these the wrong way, they are in deed helping me with how I will approach modding down the road.

Thanks!

Would it be possible to get pictures of all 6 PSL8.5 maps in a top down view for a little bit of studying? We play tomorrow and I can't seem to find a picture of "sisu-land" anywhere...

I will put mine back up tonight. I had forgot to install the expansion pack in my server version of TT so siberia was missing all its trees. Do they even have trees in Siberia? Things that make you go 'hmmmmm'!

They had trees in Siberia, before that crazy comet thing.

Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 6:49:23 PM

Ya seriously.... I wonder if it's all grown back by now though or if its still just a big crater. It was like 100 years ago right? Good thing it chose Siberia. Heh. Siberia.

Pedro: We are counting on you! Best of luck on your league debut!

Good luck all! A special 'good luck' to all the league first timers! If any confusion develops, make sure to look to your captain and give him an opportunity to clarify and communicate. Let the games begin!!

I have decided to change the home field of the Summer Scorchers. After much debate, discussion, and avoidance of the map by league vets, I have decided to pull the map. Players will not have to worry about the emitters lagging them down, spawning in a pit, lofted goals, or motion sickness. I am replacing the home field with RibKicker. Hopefully I wont be subpoenaed to court from someone going blind due to the excessive colors.

See you in the game.

Nothing personal about all that, napalm. I think it's a gorgeous map. The pits didn't bother me at all either. I thought they lended an interesting touch to it. Actually, I liked leaping across them. XD My biggest problem was with the difficulty in scoring on the aerial goals in team play. There are two possible solutions - remove the aerial goals, or provide more ways to reach them than just the one currently there.

My 2 cents, I'm kind of sad for you Nap, shit you are a captain of your team , you are wonderfully organizing this tournament... (visuals and all are impressing me alot). I think you should have the right to choose your own home map. Everyone had a reasonable delay to practice it and know that map and all the others. That map with its goals is bringing an innovation to the game , and Change is always good.

In my view since you are a captain and all those maps where sort'of agreed on then you had the right to choose it.

Anyways I'm biased a bit I had practiced it alot.... I actually found 2 different arrow pads to score in the lofted goals... Solving the 1 arrow pad dilema... I'm positive you know or can find this too.

Anyways I'm a relative noob, so Let the games begin and I wish you all great tourney 8,5.

@ Delta(ST)

I appreciate your insite a great deal. I was not forced to change the map, I first chose the map because I thought everone would enjoy playing some games in a place that is quite a bit different that what we play on every day. Maybe I'll surprise all of you and fix the problems/suggestions that had been mentioned. You never know. I just didn't want to hear about it. The issue for me is that the maps will never be used in leagues unless their tested. But you can't test them unless you use them. Catch 22.

The thing that really hit home was when people bolted from dash's server to go to RX's server but came back and stated that Siberia thing is running in RX's.
I can't even explain how much air was taken out of my baloon. I know it wasn't callus, or intended as insult, but it just kind of took me back. Compounded by all the other items brought up, I though maybe it's better not to use that map.

In any event, most of the people have installed the expansion_pack and Mod_packs so they will not have to wait for many mods after this point. I'm aware some of these maps are not the best for league play, but do we have to burn the maps beyond recognition? There are so many maps that would be fun to just play on. This may give people an idea of what I'm talking about.
I never realized how many mods there are right now.

Monkee Man something like 28 maps
dash something like 25 maps
Rooster not sure but 15?
Napalm 12 I think
Crapblaster 10
Racer 8?
wiz/triv 6?

Over 100 maps. I mean we could play on a different maps for a week before hitting the same map twice. I will continue to have my mod server up and with the expansion pack installed maybe people will open up a little bit, and just have some fun on some different maps.

BTW, I did know about the other option, I forgot about that but realized it again when I asked if you had made that one. Great goal BTW!
Thanks Delta!
Lets get the season started.

Wednesday, June 01, 2005 at 12:29:58 PM

Nappy,
the big issue with siberia is that it kills the comp. Dunno why, probably the snow. You may have to compromise by making a smaller map with fewer objects.
I think of siberia as a barren place anyway.
I know it's hard, I'm the same waytry not to take it personal.

Wednesday, June 01, 2005 at 1:41:31 PM

I can always take out the emitters and play on a less precipitative kind of day. Maybe that would actually help the play a bit. I removed the spawn/goals that were over pit. I have added multiple jump pads to lofted goals. So techincally If I remove the snow (for league games) each issue will have been addressed. Let's see how it goes.

Nappy

Wednesday, June 01, 2005 at 1:54:40 PM

That leads to a good point Tally Ho. Other games that have much larger maps and far more graphic intensive don't lag. Why is this? Is it simply a flaw with the framework of the game itself? I mean if Freud lags for everyone with a full server it seems that things Napalm and others are trying to do might be fruitless due to the limitations of the game.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Dat map snap nap.

Wednesday, June 01, 2005 at 2:39:50 PM

Hey Nap, don't feel bad about comments about your map. Siberia is beautiful and can be a lot of fun to play. I've made well over a hundred different terrains for TT and have only released a small fraction that I think will get the best play. I have plenty of extreme maps that I love but I know would not be well received by my fellow tankers. So they have been left in my "wild ideas" folder. One example that some have seen is my "Rooftop Rumble". It has a great view but the game-play sucks. Another is my Arena. It's a very dark and dirty industrial grid with blast furnaces and such. The emitters for the blast furnace pits cause too much video lag and the game-play differs greatly from normal TT, so it has never been released. Another example is my frantic super volcano, "Adrenaline Ascent". It was a "wild idea" map that I released but now wish would just disappear.

So keep at it! Maybe if more people make and play extreme maps like you, they will become a little more accepted. And then perhaps someday I will be able to release some of my "wild ideas" maps.

I made some changes to sibera and we will be using that tonight. I removed the snow for the league game and adjusted the pads. Thanks MM.

In terms of the expansion pack - apparently Banana is unable to download...how many of the above maps utilize this? If the answer is "many" I may opt to put nanner on the sidelines...appears he forgot to check the requirements for the league...lol :P

Wednesday, June 01, 2005 at 4:10:45 PM

Only Siberia, possibly wiz's map but I don't think so. It looks like lush to me.

Proffessor, your playing X-Terminators on Warpig. That maps has been out for some time. Banana shouud be able to get right in. If Banana continues to have issues have him contact me.

<---- Volcano fan! XD

Hey Banana - I can mail you a CD if that would help.

@Nappy - I am wondering if there is a way to reduce the amount of snow and if that would solve the problem? Seemed like it was storming strongly in there. If it could be dialed down to a light dusting, maybe lag would be less? I loved the snow!
