CONGRATS TO THE PSL8 CHAMPS!!
THE CEREBROS LOCOS!!

Check out the Highlight Reel of the Championship Match!

LEAGUE BUSINESS FEB 3
a. If the answer to your question is stated in the recurring post at top and you ask it anyway, the odds that your next three questions will be answered enter the asymptotical approach to zero.
b. No more than 5 people per team should be on a server at once, one of which must be an observer, marked as such, or not be there at all.
c. Games begin when the clock ticks down to zero and the server flips. No more diving. This is why it is essential that teams show up on time, it not EARLY (Early meaning *not late,* maybe even a few minutes before the minute the game is scheduled to start.")

POST-SEASON NEWS:
Teams that finish in second (2) and third (3) place will vie on the 2nd place team's home court.

{{{{{ In the event of a tie at season's end, the team with the better head-to-head record will host the match. In the even the record is tied, the team with the better goals scored/allowed ratio will host the match }}}}}

Team Rosters

Score Board

Game Schedule

Each match consists of 2 games. Match scoring will be used like last season (W = 2 pts, L = 0 pts, T = 1 pt, W both games = 1 extra point).

Team Statistics

Observer Script for PSL

League Rules for Observer
1. A maximum of 2 observers is allowed per game.
2. Servers must not be set to more than 10 players.
3. The participation of any observers MUST be mutually agreed upon by both Team Captains prior to the start of the game.
4. Observers should be changed to RED color by the admin if possible, or the observer should modify their name to indicate they are observing (e.g. Tally Ho (Obs)).
5. Observers should not participate in any way during the game. This means no chatting!

Home Fields <----- Click for screenies of the maps.

Home games are to be played on your Home Field. In addition, each team playing on their Home Field should also host that game if possible. That way any 'advantage' to hosting one's own game will even out over the season.

*** Disgusting Flea Sound!!! ***

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 9:06:06 AM

In all reality though, out of 42 'matches' only 4 of them were played undermanned this season. This is HARDLY worth even considering a chang in the system because of it.

Ya, good point!

Lol, napalm. You gave as well as you got. I was getting pretty frustrated with you last night. I actually felt I was shooting like crap, in retrospect I think we were just both shooting very well.

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 10:02:00 AM

Just for giggles: If we had used my point system last season, the finals standings (I think) would have looked like this [actual finish in parentheses]:
Wolf Pack, +35 (4)
Killer Fleas, +32 (1)
Black Sheep, +13 (5)
Scrum Society, +10 (2)
Cerebros +4 (3)
Killemall, -41 (6)
Village People, -53 (7)
My quicky analysis reveals the obvious: There's a huge penalty for not showing up with 4 player both for the losing team and the other teams in the league. It creates an interdependence between teams. Not showing up full strength skews the scores heavily towards the winning team, much more than the 5 point tussle system.
I can't comment on the TBML system lest someone wants to analyze the system using it.
____
In general, I don't think it's smart to limit a team's possible point total because the opposition doesn't get their team assembled. Really doesn't make any sense to penalize the full squad in that way. If they then choose to play 3 on 3 can they win full points? What if they lose both games? The initially shorthanded team, looking at zero points to begin with, ends up with 5. Das ees silly.

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 3:12:58 PM

^ @Tally.... Did you say your point system is retroactive immediately?!?! Wolf Pack wins !! Aroooooooohh!! :P

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 5:37:03 PM

I like Bolo's and Dash TBLM system a lot... I won't do the computing, but I like it. :)

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 8:03:06 PM

There is a difference between penalizing and team and keeping them on the straight and narrow....

Would you really win 14 - 4 if the game wasnt undermanned??

B

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 11:35:57 PM

Bolo,
It's not up to the rest of the league to keep a team on the straight and narrow. It's up to the teams Captain. If they can't get their team to show up in full, it's up to the captain, as a captain, to take the responsibility to cut who he needs to and request a replacement from the league organizer.

It's really that simple.

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 6:37:49 AM

Its obvious you have never had that responsibility.

B

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 7:55:22 AM

I have, and I'm no good at it. I'm a good player, but a lousy captain.

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 8:05:26 AM

A few seasons back Tally said it was like rounding up cats. Still a good analogy. How do you get people to make a serious commitment to a cartoon tank game when real life issues are popping up? I'm amazed at how few games were played a man down during this busy time of year.

Hats off to everyone involved in this season! Had a great time.

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 9:03:21 AM

^^ It would seem that Bolo could learn a thing or two from you. After all, acknowledging ones problem is the first step :)

Well I am not saying it easy by no means but I had no problems but Az and I just got rid of him and ran with 5 members ! As you can see by stats we did just fine.

@ Wolf Pack
I just want to say thanks for the last 2 seasons. You guys kept me informed all the way and when I had my PC problems or took vacation you guys step up as a team and all ways came through ! With that said, " Thank you to all of Wolf Pack and I wish you all the best of luck on your new teams ! "

@ Future Captains of PSL9
Any one of my team mates will be there for you if they are picked in the draft, except for Dementus who is taking season 9 off ! B)

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 9:41:30 AM

Here is how the scores would have been this season using my scoring system. Clearly my scoring system is totally unfit for scrum ;)
The Scrum Society 26.75
The Killer Fleas 25.94
The Wolf Pack 25.89
The Black Sheep 24.65
Cerebros Locos 24.03
Killemall 21.96
The Village People 18.78

NO, no, I think that's right on!

Now where's my championship belt?

Thanks Dash

I think we should petition the associate press to do a weekly ranking for us. It works for college football.....oh wait, no it doesnt. Sry, nm. :o

Wanted to thank everyone for what was a very enjoyable (sometimes frustrating) season. The level of competition for this silly cartoon game is mind boggling. That being said, I have to admit to feeling a bit burned out...and its not because I've been hitting the peice too much lately. ;) having participated in 5 straight leagues ( past two seasons tbml + psl simultaneously) I am strongly considering a leave of absence ( *crowd*..."groan...yeah right"). I have already promised the lady that this would be it...at least for a while. So here are my thoughts on the recent issues that have sprung up in these forums (understanding that since I wont likely be participating in the next league, my comments carry little weight)

1. 4 on 4 format should stay. Let other leagues incorporate new formats.
2. Either a complete reshuffle of teams or all stay the same...defending champions are boring w/o rivalry.
3. Bolo doesnt bother me that much...unless he's lighting my ass up.
4. The newly modded maps look great and should be used.
5. Dash's scoring system seems more appropriate for scrum than tbm. :P
6 fleas are annoying and hard to squish.

Im not into lengthy heart-fealt goodbyes (not really going anywhere anyway) but I think all of you guys are great. I have truly enjoyed this experience...no matter how dorky everyone in my life thinks it is. Like any truly great addiction, I will need to ween myself off this and I will need a strong support system ( 8o ) so please handle me with care in this time of personal struggle. Okay...i've annoyed myself now with this nonsense. Good luck all and I'll see ya around.

Peace. XD

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 12:08:19 PM

Defending champions are boring w/o rivalry.

Come on - the Fleas aren't invincible - they're just the luckiest bastids. When the Sheeps won 2 seasons (PSL 5 & 6) there were such talks too about 'breaking us down cause we were too strong' (sic), etc.. Yet we became 'The Top Underperformers in PSL history', like a CBS reporter recently said.
Fleas won this season - big deal. LET'S MINCE THEM NEXT SEASON! PSL 9 BRINGZ IT ON! If they want to stay together they should be able to, as the winning team privilege.

6. Fleas are annoying and hard to squish.

I'm willing to admit that much. :)

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 12:36:08 PM

Ahem.

I believe the defending champions are the Cerebros Locos, (PS7 baby yeah!!) (didja SEE the DVD?) ; And the final playoff game of this season is still yet to be played. Which again features, CL vs. KF, sooooooooo, I think we are being swept under the rug as if WE were the fleas.

I mean c'mon, sure we didn't perform like crazy during the season, but we didn't last season either and we won. We aren't feared, we don't get respect, but we still win. The brothers swift have a fine way of motivating the troops to peak at the right times. I feel like the New England patriots, no studs, no names, just a solid team.

Where's that championship trophy? Oh yeah, it's in Dar and KJ's room, and you've got to beat us to have it. So bring whatcha got fleas, hope you don't have any scrum rust after your week off.

Memphizzle foshizzle nizzle in the hizzle, wid nothin but Cerebros locizzle for your flea-dizzle. Bringin' his size 13 and kickin it for the homies.

Word.

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 1:07:18 PM

@ Memphis. Who are you again? The Cerebros what? Oh! The team 'with the funny hat'! XD

@ Bolo, we need to find a system where the Sheep will win this season. We need to find it FAST!

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 5:50:54 PM

Wicked post mem :).
One of the perks of getting hosed in last season's final is GAME FILM. :).
I have already broken down the first 45 minutes and made notations on all players tendencies. I am officially overly excited for this rematch.
See you wednesday. Let the good scrummin flow like wine.
Is Rx hosty? Can I please settle down?

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 6:45:25 PM

The Fleas get to choose the host. I'd be happy to do it. Lemme know. Camera and film ready to roll!!

Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 7:37:11 AM

This game is like this year's super bowl. Like memph said- Locos are the Patriots with the solid team play and no big superstars, Fleas got all the flashy multi-millionaires shinin' their bling bling. Therefore my vote goes Loco. Can't wait for the video...

Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 9:24:03 AM

<-- bringing Tally Whacker, ready to rumble ;)

Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 1:08:59 PM

Wooot this match is gonna be awesome!

Hey one more thing about this season and the scoring system. Anyone else notice this? I have noticed in the last two seasons that "running out the clock" has become an actual strategy - not always, but it seems much more commonplace now than it used to be. I am not saying it's good or bad, but I raise the question: Is this a direct result of the match scoring system? Are we now content to sit on a lead, instead of trying to get as many goals as possible?

Perhaps a solution to this is the "original" scoring system (or a variation thereof), where you simply add the points from the two games. Then the match is essentially one 30 minute game (with a 30 second halftime after 15 min). Other ideas?

Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 2:22:54 PM

What if matches....
ww = 50
wt = 30
wl = 20
tt = 20

And then the score differential over those two games is factored into the score so if team A wins both games by a combined 3 points, they get 53 points instead of the usual 50.
This is a bad idea for various reasons.

Fleas got all the flashy multi-millionaires shinin' their bling bling.

Wait... what??? 8o

SoÉ

Who's filming? Will we get some dual camera action going for this one??

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 7:41:22 AM

I plan on filming. We could get BC or Nappy if we want a 2nd camera. It's up to you guys. I plan on hosting, but in case my server is laggy I told Ho he should be prepared with a backup server.

I'm definitely hittin' my jplay on this one. Don't know what I'll do with it afterwards, but atleast I'll have it :)

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 8:46:02 AM

The 2nd camera is welcome. I'll go hardline tonight so airport lag shouldn't be an issue. Also, try and be about 15 minutes early cats. Let's try and start the game at 7 sharp.
Gl, mind the fleas.

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 10:08:53 AM

Hey X,
Where's that page with the code to run jsave on OS X??

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 3:23:55 PM

I just wanted to wish both teams the best of luck and I can not wait for the video ! B)

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 3:44:15 PM

I'll be there filming from the blimp.

@LilAlienD (FU)
Send your jsave file and I'll see how it plays on my setup. Same goes for anyone else with a Mac.

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 3:48:57 PM

BC,
I need the command line to start it and can't find the page.

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 3:51:54 PM

@ LilAlienD (FU)

Open terminal type CD and a space. Then drag your tt folder into the terminal window. Press enter

Copy the following into terminal. Press enter.

ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks OSX -jSave finals.txt

Or playback

ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks OSX -jPlay finals.txt
Looks like there's already two. I'll find something else to do.

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 4:22:59 PM

Cool, thanks.

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 4:31:47 PM

OK Gents! The server is up now (6 pm pacific). Please check it out for lag etc.

So it's me and BC to film then? BC IM me so we can coordinate: reagentxxx

One way to redeem the 'wuss dribble' or 'run the clock' factor is to have a system like Dash's TBML. This way instead of wussing away a team will always be greedy for GOALS for at the end of the day that's what would matter. Now what matters are not goals but a win - thus the WussDribble technique. Some people got pretty good at that... SHEEPS NEVER WUSSDRIBBLED! I would vota for TBML system... (But I do like the actual system too - just neat to try different things.) :)

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 7:28:50 PM

And it's final - Cerebros Locos repeat last year's victory! Congrats Locos! XD

Oh, and :P ! ( ;) )
