Please read the statements below
I would like to change the way the games are hosted.
Each team will be responsible for hosting their own HOME games.

I am looking for hosters to host games for those who do not have hosting capabilities.
I don't beleive this league has the luxury of looking for the perfect server. We need to just get the games played.

Captains, Please let me know you plans to get the missed games rescheduled and played.
Contact me if you need a server.

@ LW,

Your comments are valid, however these were rules that were established at the beginning of the season. These rules have been common knowledge amongst all of us, and if you go through this thread you will find conversations to the like.

SK

PS:- Rules are there to be obeyed, not to be changed or broken at people's discretion.

@ Lonewolf and folks.

Still. Are we interested in playing a league going by the Book of Law? Or are we interested in seeking smooth alternatives where everyone can be happy?

The post-game experience will leave a bitter taste for the team that had to play with fewer players... And I know that I would also feel the same being in the team that had more players and hence won a sucky game, so to speak.

I also think that the word 'punishment' is rather untrue to the situation here. No one is looking for punishment. (I don't even understand the conception of that word, or why it was ever invented.) Speaking for myself, I think that adjusting the player amount to the equal of the other team's, is what's best for the situation being, where the fact is that poor player attendance is a real plague.

I think, going by the book and following the codes of tradition to the letter, doesn't justify the fact that you will also have to face two seriously fun killing factors:

1.) You will end up seeing propositions to have loads of games re-scheduled, like the one here (between Rats/HA) for instance. And the question is, what's the biggest "punishment" to a member of a team; is it having to sit out a game here and there, or is it the pain of re-scheduling games to the extent of not knowing if you will ever finish the league until real life retirement?

2.) Again, if you play on sub-par terms, will you really feel happy about it?

Sometimes you have to loosen your belt a little bit and let a few farts out.

I don't have the slighest clue what that last sentence means, but why not.. All in all, the logic is saying, to me, that we should seek the fastest route to enjoyment. Re-scheduling games isn't the quickest road there.

I want to see a swift league, where people are willing to make some sacrifices and take some side-routes when troubles arise.

If me and my wife decided we should go on a dinner together, ok, and she suddenly caught the flu...

...do I tell her, hey honey, sorry for you... Tough luck. But guess what, I can't talk with you right now, I'm going to have dinner with myself now. Now, can you please help me with my tie, love?

Sunday, November 06, 2005 at 6:53:51 PM

The point of this whole seasons problem is because you all are way to lax on attendence. This is Leagues last time I checked and if you can not run with the big dogs, stay on the dam poarch ! Meaning that in PSL & CTF there is no tolerance for this crap and thats why those leagues never had to deal with this crap. Bottom line," Stop helping the problem to continue and start to help out by putting a end to this BS with attendence ! " This has been going on for all most 2 full seasons, this attendence problem ! So stop catering to it and start putting your foot down. After all, this is what has lead us to the problem this league is now in ! B)

Well, I think you're both right and less right. I would totally agree with you in that the attendance issues might be the biggest reason why we have had problems in this league (and it's pitiful). Right.

But my agreeing would stop there, as I'm thinking:

It's what you're DOING about this problem, that's relevant. As far as I'm concerned, there are only 3 options to choose between:

1.) Either introducing a system where it's allowed to re-schedule games because of attendance problems (this is the worst alternative in my opinion).

2.) Either introduce (or reinstate, whatever) a rule that says, the team with lesser players will have to choose between loosing or play. While this rule may seem non-punishing for the full manned team, it's indeed still sort of 'punishing' and detrimental to the idea of the game.

3.) Just swallow the sour pill and get over with it, like REAL big dogs do. If I were going to complain when I, by chance, had to sit out a couple games; so be it. I'm still a big dog, it doesn't make me a smaller one. Furthermore; the revenues for all - knowing that every week, a game will be played - is much bigger than my personal grief about having to sit a game this or that week.

Looks like you all have to chime in here since we ain't having don't have a commisioner any longer. Seems like a choice between two ways of thinking; the selfish one or the sportive one.

Personally, I'd like to apply the following rule to the remainder of this league:

No re-scheduling. When teams meet, they meet because they are supposed to play. If they don't manage doing so, the points will be split up and shared equally between the two teams. Fair and simple.

Knowing that every week, a game WILL be played, unconditionally, is what I'd like to see. No courtroom rhetorics or anything. If one takes it so serious, that one is prepared to start re-discussing when games should played, or if they should be replayed, be re-scheduled and whether they should be replayed at all, etc. In this forum, I don't know... XD X/

I thought the problem was solved...why is this continuing? (see my previous post). Anyhow, whichever way you look at this, even by the book, it says you got to play 4 on 4. So not only is it the decent thing to do, but it's also the rules.
TDR: 2.25
HA: 1.75
If 4 captains vote against this decision made by our non-commissioner, we'll revise it.

Wiz, update the boards!

Mr. Stan once again you are wrong ! See this is the BS I am talking about that you guys like to pull here. This is what it says,

Teams of five if possible, but four on four is also acceptable

Now you show me where in that statement it says we have to play 4 on 4, when we showed up with 5. So by that rule alone and Leps refusing to play 4 on 5 HA win, nice try.
Learn how to read ! XO

But you did receive the email from supra (commissioner then) on sept 16 - I see your email address on the list of recipients.
Excerpt:

1. Teams that show with 4 players, and face a team with 5 players - MUST do a 4 v 4 game.

Now, enough.

It also was said by Supra that game 2 of first match with TDR was to be redone due to breaking the League Rules but no one here seems to give a dam about what Supra had set into action or in wriiting before he left so why should we now !

Why are these problems only occuring when it comes to certain teams?

I can never picture myself running into ANY unsolvable issues with most teams, except for some. Granted, it's not their fault, it's no-one's 'fault', per say, I'm not looking to blame anyone for not being able to stretch any longer than they already have.

That said, this has to do with two separate league philosophies , that we're apparently completely incapable to marry.

Since the disagreement still persist, this is where the captain's will throw in their opinions about said issue. I just came home from an hour of full-body massage and I'm completely relaxed and cosy. So it's not that I want to stir things up. But, I don't think either parties of this 'sub-par reschedule games or not'-issue have come to an agreement.

Simple as that, a captain's vote will settle any disputes down and we can continue without having scattered thoughts about how things should run.

I can hardly enjoy repeating past- or non-game issues - especially when they are stacking - and is there really anyone that honestly wants to prolong that detrimental factor to the league? Doesn't evolution have anything to do with this community? Are you here for the game, or for the 'fun' of scheduling and rescheduling the games?

Geesh.

I don't know whether this is a place where you're not supposed to have opinions, especially if you're not captain of a team or the commisioner, but seeing that very few are throwing in their say in this, I feel oblidged to brake the silence.

Come on, lazy buggers. Type something. And don't deny that there are conflicting opinions about it. I don't like the idea of having some teams claiming cancellation of games due to various issues, yet there are some teams that just follows the code of conduct and manages to face the sad fact that not all teams can field their full player roster at all times. We could have covered 3 leagues by the time we only played half a such... Zzz... XD

Man just looking through this thread has made me tired. Do you put have this energy into playing the games?

Monday, November 07, 2005 at 11:20:06 AM
...

I have to agree with Nap on this one. There's just way more aggravation and hand wringing with this league than there ought to be.

My suggestion is that we throw away the standings page. The numbers on it are pretty meaningless at this point anyway, given the number of unplayed games. For the remaining three weeks on the schedule, teams can use it as an opportunity to get in some fun games. Those who want to play can, and those who don't, for whatever reason, can wander off with no harm done. Either way, let's put an end to this idiotic bickering.

Those who are so determined to win by any means short of actually playing, the so-called competitors who are looking for a victory by default, can go ahead and declare themselves champions. The people who play the game for enjoyment won't much care anyway.

Nice retreat fellas. The league is over. Seems as if everyone can only agree to disagree. Which is fine when there is no leadership and most of the decisions lately have been made through favortism, friendships and politics. Well, I should say suggestions rather than decisions made. I will continue to show up at the scheduled times and play for fun. I hope everyone else will also. It will be a nice change.

I'll be there, also to play scheduled match. I have to scrounge for a team but we have been fielding one lately.
Maybe a weekly mini tournament would be a good idea. Anyone interested in a good game with league players meet at a server @ say 9:00 eastern and we divide into teams then. We can play 7 minute games , single elimination and have a weekly champion.
Just throwing some ideas around for this long winter comming.

^Hi Roos, that's Us TPC, Au is our captain.

What is your question, this thread is very big and sometimes very depressing so I don't read all of it. Please repost and I will email it to AU pronto. I know we are trying for a double header with BOP this week. Are you guys also available to replay the games between TPC and 8 wonder? I guess so...

PS you do have my email so email me and I will send it to AU, I will also send you his email..

Hello from Zenigata :)
Just as a side note to my team and others, I'm permanently changing my name to "Feathers McGraw " (not enough room for the (bfw/SA) bit unfortunately...though I still am part of those clans).

So if you see Feathers show up in a TBML server, that's me ;) (And now to notify SA about the change...dumdeedum)

Later!
The evil penguin with a revolver from W&G known as "Feathers McGraw".

@ Delta

I mailed my team about possible double header with you guys. I got two replies so that makes a total of three. I think Nuts is comming back for this one. I told all to be around for (9:00) eastern.
I'm hoping Rooster can put up a netural server for us. Ill mail him now.

Well crap!

I've got the server up, but for some reason the passwork won't kick in. I've set password enable to "1", both while editing the prefs.cs file and starting a server within TT and still it won't activate the pw.

I'd "love" to stay and fiddle with it, but I've got to take my son to his flag football banquet @ 6pm and attend a parent-teacher conference @ 7pm, so I gotta git and I won't be back to work. Soooo, hopefully it will work out.

(at least I can admin it and boot unwanteds if necessary.)

Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 2:42:27 PM

Rabby, Sometimes the prefs get stuck and the system doesn't ascually read that prefs file. To overwrite it, launch a server from in game, matters not which one. After you enter the game, quit TT. Go to that sever prefs file and change what you need. It should take form that point. Happened to me a while back. If you're still have problems give me a ring.

Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 7:36:00 PM

@Gamera

What happened? Did someone on your own team kill you and cost you the game?

Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 7:44:13 PM

@nap - I had tried that too, but I also remembered someone posting that the game needs to reset itself. I think that did the trick. So after a game loaded and then reloaded, I saw that the password had kicked in. I just hope they had a good game. Since I had been out of town, I ended up getting sucked into some family time (imagine that) and forgot all about the match. Sorry IS.

@ All,

This week due to an unforeseen set of events I couldn't make this weeks game. I have been looking at the TBML pics threads, and noticed how tight most scores where. Looks like there were a number of good matches played, and who said that TBML was dead? Take the politics away, and all we want to do is play a competitive game of TBML!!!

Have a good weekend, oil those tanks, and see you next week for the next instalment of TBML.
