CTB , please confirm who is gona be in for game Wednesday.
ITS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG
I have heard from several captains that many people are unavailable for tonights game. May I suggest that players who just finished the season be utilized to fill rosters if teams are short handed. Captains form both team must agree on the players subbing prior to game start.
I am able to play tonight and any one on MS has my permission to fill in for who ever needs them ! :P
@ CTBS, go go go ram that yellow bus, cause only head injuries again thats all we need.
The power of the Grizzly bear is bestowed on all of you fine warriors, unite be a team , out of hibernation the CTB come to chomp on some fresh lunch but not high in IQ content.... ;0
May the best be victorious and they shall be magnanamous!
Good luck to all my friends.
Now in Philadelphia home of USA Independence! USA started a revolution during that time ,,, where is it now I ask?
Ed's lose. Sorry to Oddball who tried like crazy to get the map to load but was not able. Good games though.
On another note, TT currently has lost all of its luster for me. No more leagues for this fat kid for the time being.
Cya folks.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.
Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.
Hey Rogue,
Whats going on... Do the CTBS or my comments here have anything to do with you leaving? Shit I hope not, most of the time I'm just goofing off here.
TO CTB's wow you beat em, super job CONGRATULATIONS, the Eds are an awesome team! How did it go down give me some news or an email. WOOZAH boys ! Damn I'm proud.
Truthfully, I thought it would be an X-Terminator vs Special Ed's final. I guess anything can happen, and does.
Delta, I'm sure Rogue finds your comments funny and amusing. He's just a bit burnt and needs a bit of a brake like many of us. A few weeks off will do all some good.
Sheena, Thank you for allowing us to use you map. I had a lot of fun playing it. I think it played well.

Hats off to the underdogs in tonight's games. Whod've thunk both semi's would end in an upset?
GL to both teams in the finals!
MP
Indeed !
Well played SS and CTB's!!!
on to the finals!!
Then on to season 9.
Great games SE ,well played last night.
Special thanks to Icy and Shags ,who had to sit last night ,I hope it'll workout better in the final and we all can play (5vs5).
Also I want to thank to all players who was with CTB during the season , with out you guys we couldnt be were we are now. GOOD JOB TEAM!!!
T
@Nap
I was pretty sure it was going to be an X and Eds final too, but the map has a bug in it. I kept receiving an "invalid packet" error. All other maps/servers worked fine! Bad idea to play a finals game on a Beta map.
Who was hosting again?
^ Sorry again Oddie. I was bummed that you couldn't play, considering you and the other three remaining players on the Ed's were beyond reliable.
Delta, Nappy summed it up. Adding to my burnout is the fact that both of my kids have now returned to daycare. I now find myself welcoming the fact that they stay up later so I can goof with the both of them. I once again played a league match with my 2 year old hanging on my arm because he wants to have fun with his dad. Call it a revelation or simply feeling like a schmuck because I'm playing a TT game rather than spending that time with the boys. So, yah, I'm done for a while with league play. I could always be swayed into very late night 3 on 3 matches though. Heh.
Good season Ed's. I think we were the only team to retain five out of our original six players. Thanks for putting up with NUTS all season. You can take solice in the fact that his wife has to deal with him 365 days a year. XD

That map had been up for a week prior to the finals on 3 different servers. Maverick had to wait for a download but did not get the packet error. The files were also available to pre-download. Was last night the first time you tried to play the map? I didn't see anyone else with the same problem that you experienced. I was asking Rogue last night if anyone had availability to Dash so he could look at the logs to see what your machine was looking for.
This league was supposed to be a fun way of providing new maps for peolpe to play on. Unfortunatley almost all of the teams took the panzy approach and picked the same stupid maps we always play. This is the very same thing that makes me want to leave this community. Would you like to drink a vanilla shake every day for 6 months? Even more so when there are 5 or 10 people right next to you creating new flavors every day. I think not, maye I'm the exception.
I put up a new map server and for whatever reason these people just can't get with the program, Dash has been running the same maps for 3 months minimun, and Rx is hosting even older MM mods.Has TT popped all of out actual brains?
I don't know but it looks kind of sad to me.
If I'm so far off base why is the BM league looking at all new maps? Half of them play in the scrum league.
Maybe I should go back to BM or start the "No Panzies League" where the moto is Go mods or go home! :)
I'd still like to know why you had that problem.
Did you try to delete the.ter file and download one from the server?
The map was better played than I originally expected. I actually like it now... 8o
Well then nap I'll start creating some maps again. But the last time I made mod maps they never got used. I geuss mod maps were still new at the time. I'll try again and see what happens.
@RX,
You video taping this game?

Napp - I have been hosting MM's newer mods actually. There is room for olld & reliable as well as new & different. I host those because I think there should be a place where people can go to play TS without having to jump through a lot of hoops. I like getting into the game with the group. It kind of takes the air out of the sails when you come to a new mod and only 3 out of 10 people have it and it's like 'oh well, let's go'. But that is a different topic. Let's finish this season and then we can pick maps for next season.
@Racer, yes I will tape the game!

I agree, it's very frustrating. That should be easily rectified with the mod pack. It need not be as difficult as it has been of late. I always keep one server constant and another for the recently released. If the mod pack was installed within the last month, all should be ok. But if the other servers are running old maps, it typically will split the crowd, or the crowd will gather where ever the most people are. That is all well and fine by why need it be beat to death? This should be no more difficult than the Dash and MM mods we already play. Neither you nor dash have added anyhting recent to the rotations. I'm not saying don't play any of the old maps but you could try to mix in a new few ones. I thought we agreed creating the expansion pack was a good idea.
Just one question? How reluctant will you be to add the MM mods currently being created? I have a feeling they will be added the day you get them. I can just see it now. OMG!!! NEW MM MODS! Am I way off base here? Please enlighten me. I'm also waiting for that email you spoke of last night.

Good luck CTB! Tumble Dry Low!
Oh the drama Nappy! Geez.
If you're so bored don't lay it on everyone else. Talk about beating it to death.
MM has made some of the best & most played mods out there. Good news he's making more.
Yup I pre-downloaded the map (as I always do), but never had a chance to play on it before game time. I am mistaken if it was up on a server for preview. I'll have to check as to why only I had this problem. I sense a conspiracy. ;)
Anyway Eds it was a great season. It was my pleasure to play with such a cooperative and competitive team. I really regret I wasn't there to help us shoot for gold.
P.S. As I have posted in another thread, its time to drop the PS8 server and put up some new maps.
@Nappy, we seem to be talking about nightly TS servers, not choosing maps for League play. As I mentioned to you last night, I really want to help choose new maps for PSL that play well for league games. We should set up a videochat to discuss this, as I have a pretty good sense of what makes a good map and it would be good to discuss more. You around late tonight?
As far as nightly casual TS pickup servers, I am not reluctant to host new maps. Nor am I urging you to stop hosting them. Please be my guest.
I simply like to have a place to play with maps that you can just jump into and not lose new players. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the community is shrinking and will slowly die off. I am simply trying to provide a "clean well-lighted place for Team Scrum" that is not the original maps. My priorities as a host of late night scrum are: play with my buddies, include new players, good sportmanship, good humor, uninterrupted intricate competitive play and teamwork. I like the novelty of new maps, but I am conservative about constantly requiring people to keep things updated to play. The reality is that each additional barrier is a filter that removes a percentage of players.
New mods are great fun and I fully support the effort and I gladly update the TT_Mod_Pack® several times per week. We will have new mods in future TS leagues and Tourneys. Even in leagues it is not a slam dunk to get everyone in the server (e.g. Oddball last night), but that is at least manageable.
I can just see it now. OMG!!! NEW MM MODS!
This is called clever marketing. At that time, I asked the community to make the leap into regular play on modded servers and they followed. I do not ask people to constantly update their TT folders all the time, as I think it is too much to ask of everyone. If we want people to play on Mods regularly, then we need to pick some good maps and keep them constant so everyone has them. This is harder to pull off with the expansion pack requirement, and the constant addition of new terrains. It puts a great burden on the admin to keep teams even with all the loaders who haven't predownloaded. With no admin, it is actually rare to achieve an excellent full game in a new modded expansion pack required server.
At least I have a "/pre" command and a stealth boot command that allows people to be redirected to the TT_Mod_Pack or to be booted without a rude message. I think those tools are essential and are not in the regular dash codes. Would be nice to have those included.
I know you are of the school: "Build it and they will come. If there is a critical mass of good players on the mods, more players will want to join, and will go do whatever it takes." I actually agree 90% with this. The 10% that makes it hard is that some of the mods don't play well: some have lakes in the middle causing ridiculous spawn stallage, some are too big, some have very difficult goals that slow down play, some have terrain that is too choppy or too extreme. We need to whittle them down to the best for TS and modify dash's codes and then I think we'd be in better shape to do this.
-Rx
Reagent, I agree with 99% of what your saying here, but others have posted that they are getting bored and welcome new maps too. I mean it's been 2 years with no changes or updates by Bravetree. Do we just use what we have or try to make things better?
Rogue, Nuts. Pharm, KBC, T-34, Delta, and Dash, have all expressed wishes for new maps. I just don't understand why it's such a slow process. It's not that hard. There doesn't need to be any big screening process for casual play, but I do agree that league maps need to be well tested.

I'm not knocking MM mods, I think he is the elite modder. But for those of us who play a couple hours daily, too much redundency sours the experience. Currently MM mods are no more unique to the daily player as are the stock maps.
No offense meant to MM at all. I actually query MM for advise and welcome his critque.

All we need to keep the community thriving and make it bigger is
NEW MAPS ! Common modders, get your act together. I know theres alot of us out there but please keep making maps specially designed for Team Scrum! As you can see, most of the new maps have weird and wonderful textures but no proper and fun gameplay - like TBD, sure it looks nice but isnt really a scrum map - more of eye candy!
You know why MM maps are so famous because they dont use weird and wonderful textures, they use stock textures - so they dont look all that good but GDI do they play well !!
Thanks, Pedro.
Ok gotcha Nap. I play every night and I understand what you're saying.
Pedro has good point about the quality with some mods though. Trying to reinvent the game with more extreme maps has always seemed like a wash. Maybe if people are more vocal about what works and what doesn't we'd have more maps.
Heh actually I think I find the stock maps less redundant these days. Just me.

TBD means "To Be Determined"
Pedro, where is that you played TBD?

Ol
But no proper and fun gameplay
Actually I have to disagree with you on this one. We played 3 games (unnecessarily) on that map and I think all three were excellent games. I didn't hear any complaints in post game chat about it being a bad map to play on. (With the exception of Tally because he was on ignore, I have no idea what he may have said.) Rogue and Reagent did express opinions that they didn't like the trees scaled un-proportionally. Personally I liked it; it gave the map a whole different feel. There were very few uncontested goals, very little freebs if any. I thought it was a very even game, and I think the scores also validate that.
As far as it being eye candy, I think there's to much empasis on that. The funny part is when we played I don't recall seeing the waterfalls or anything. I suppose when your really into the game your not focusing on the backdrop, your too busy chasing the guy with the scrum, or trying to take out the opponent. That's why I think people should actully play the maps because the pictures don't tell half of the story.
Some very pretty maps play well, and some don't.
Some very ugly maps play well, and some don't.
You just have to play them to determine that.
There is a server up with the agreed upon map for the Finals match. T-34 and I agreed on using Wiz/Triv05.
Looks like a pretty fun map, Balletomania should be a blast!
Please check it out and make sure you can get in well before game time on Wednesday.
I guess I understand all this new maps business coming from the veterans of TT, as many of you have been playing the same maps for over two years. However, I'm considerably newer to the game and there are still plenty of maps I encounter on a weekly basis which I'm barely familiar, if at all, with. Now I'm not saying we don't need more mods, but for the younger player I think we need new mods slowly woven into familiar ones. I play dash's PSL8 server pretty often because in many of the other servers, if there are even any others up, I wont recognize any of the maps, and frankly that's a little overwhelming for someone such as myself. Nap seems to be calling for somewhat of a complete overhaul. I agree with the basic idea but I think the changes need to come in moderation. I'm definetly getting tired of some of the maps dash is running, but many of them I love and would be sad to see go. Swapping a couple out every so often would be sah-weet, but swapping them all out I'm not so down with. I think gameplay needs to take a higher seat than innovation here.

What I have said may be being interpreted incorrectly if that's how many are taking it.
I never said to trash all of the current maps, just asked for a change up, and I didn't even ask for my maps to be used. I just wanted some variety.
Here's where I stand for the record.
I really enjoy MM mods I just think there should be other maps intertwined as well. We have plenty of good maps to go around.
As I stated to Reagent I think the league maps need to be scrutinized so the leagues run smoothly.
Everyday pick up games should be able to add maps without much interruption. Most players are with it, and have already installed what is necessary. My concern is we primarily gather in two servers and they are fairly similar.
Many have expressed interest in new maps, lets add some in.
Swapping a couple out every so often would be sah-weet, but swapping them all out I'm not so down with.
I'm not looking to shock the system, just keep it interesting. I think we can easily do this.

Hey T, Who you going to have host the finals for you? You're the home team and should host the game. Please let me know.
What do you think of having a 12 man finals?
What to do, if everyone shows?
Thx

This will be a 4 on 4 tournamnet
This will be a set day and time Wednesday nights at 09:30 Eastern Time)
Games will start Wednesday JUNE 1st 9:30 EST, Finals will be played on August 3rd 2005
We will utilize the home team concept as in Psycho Scrum. Home teams will be required to host their games.
Each match consists of 2 games. Match scoring will be used like last season (W = 2 pts, L = 0 pts, T = 1 pt, W both games = 1 extra point).
I think this is a great oppertunity to introduce some new maps that are a bit on the extreme side. We can include some great maps by Rooster, Dash, Monkee Man, Crapblaster, Triv, Wiz, KBC, MAX CR, Wiz, and myself.
This should add a lot of variety and keep things interesting.
******This will require installing the Expansion Pack and the Mod_Pack to eliminate downloads and wait time.*****
