Here is old CTF league if any one wants to see how we did things back then !

League Rules

Format

A match will consists of 2 games played back to back. A game is the standard 15 minutes. There are a total of 4 teams in the League and each team will field 4 players per match. Each team will play each other team twice for a total of 6 matches. Each team will play 3 matches as one color then switch for the last 3 matches.

Matches will be played back to back on Thursdays starting at 9:30 PM EST and 10:30 PM EST respectively. Expect to play 3 matches in each timeslot. A Match starts after the clock ticks down to 0 and both Captains have agreed "GAME ON!!". Do not mass exit and enter to reset the clock.

If we are able to lock the server with a particular terrain, then

The League Committee (Lonewolf/Oddball) with input from the Captains, will select up to 3 maps of each terrain type (lush/spooky/frantic). A team will play 2 matches against the same team on the same terrain but as a different color in the second half of the season.

If not;

A match will be played on whatever terrain appears at game time. A team will play 2 matches against the same team on random terrain, but as a different color in the second half of the season. Admin will be available to boot individuals not on the competing teams. Hope everyone can live with that.

Screenshots of the final scores, or links to the 'recent results' of your game must be posted to the forum after the game.

No restarts. Once a game has begun must be played to conclusion and shall not be halted for lag, discussion or any other minor complications.

Scoring

Based on 2 games/match, the scoring is as follows:

0 points for a loss
1 point for a draw
2 points for a win.
1 Bonus point for a double win.

If a team wins both games, then they would score 2 points for each game, and a bonus point for a full victory given a total of 5 points.
If a team wins one and loses the other, then they score 2 points for the first, and none for the second giving a total of 2 points, and so on.

Goal difference is calculated as a total of both games. If a team wins by 12 - 9 in game one, and loses 9 - 10 in game two, thats a total of (12 + 9) to (9 + 10) or 21 to 19, giving a total goal difference of 2pts to the winners. The losers get a score of 0 for the goal difference. Goal difference will be used in the case of tied rank positions.

Is there a volunteer to tabulate individual scores?

Teams

Captains will be appointed and players will be drafted to a team. Any player expressing interest after the draft begins will be placed on a reserve list.

Each team must field 4 players for a game. If a team is short a player, Captains can decide weither to proceed to play or forfeit. This must be agreed to before the clock resets, and both Captains must live with the result if the team is willing to stick around to play.

No substitutions of players not officially on the team are allowed at game time. If your team is short of players, then they need to be formally added to your team ahead of time from the Reserve List with consultation of the other teams and the League Committee (here on the forums). Its the Captain's primary responsibility to ensure they can field a team.

If the Captain is not playing, there must be a substitute team-captain nominated for the game.

That should cover everything

Oddball.

Well, we had a series of crazy games last night around 9pm EST and they were great! Tanks flying everywhere and grapes bouncing like...nuts <heh heh>. Anyway, a nice teaser to the season.

Yeh. CTF is the coolest gametype of them all!

@ Räbbän. I also loved last nights games. So intense, so many players flying all over the place, so.... Utterly hilarious! :P

O Man! 9PM EST for me is 2AM in the morning! So I missed the games........

^ Thinking about that. There are some participants that play from over seas (not only in my team). Here is an example of the time zone relations between our continents. Surely I agree, indeed, that we should play the games at times being suitable to americans, since most of us are from the states. But if it would be possible, we would like the game time to be stretched as early as you can cope with ;) ,just so it won't be too late for us europeans that we can't play. Maybe, instead of playing at 9.30 pm/10.30 pm EST, making it more like 7 pm/8 pm EST would work for us all?

Nice little app you have there Wiz!

OSX Rocks!

BTW: When are we going to get the big ichat video conference going?

Yup real nice app are those widgets? So I Guess OS Tiger is worth the upgrade Wiz?
I haven't tried the ichat yet I have 10.3.8... I should get with it.

Back to CTF it would be nice for the none North Americans to play at reasonable hours... I wouldn'T want to be accused of winning because the other team is sleep deprived, or not awake,,,,etc.. (new ones to add in list of WHAT IF's )! XD

So what will it be, weekends @ 12:00 EST, I know thats what us ST,s are doing to accomodate our European players.

Let's get this solved for a win win situation for all players.

Delta

Ps are any players in the league Ladies?,... Cause we are the lady killers. ;)

@ Napalm & Delta. XD Actually that is not OSX Tiger... :[ I wish it was though. I'll buy the OS upgrade any day now. Can't wait to do 4-some video conferencing, making light speed searches with Spotlight, using SmartFolders, utilizing the Automator, etc. Etc. *big drooling going on eere*...

Doesnt 10.3.9 iChat have Video conference? Or Audio Conference? If not, lots of people have skype!

7PM EST is 12AM GMT for me, and Remember im 14 so I cant stay up that late on the computer, When I get my computer in my room, then I will be able to....

2PM EST is 7PM and thats good for me even 3PM EST which is 8PM is Good

Saturday, May 07, 2005 at 3:30:21 AM

10.3.9 does have chat w/ iChat but iChat has now been improved with the H.264 codec allowing much better quality video and the ability to chat with 3 other people at the same time instead of just one. It takes some processor muscle to host a 4-way chat..

I was wondering... There's now enough people in the reserve pool to make a team in itself (a very good team at that). I vote that sxy kimmy (or whoever else is interested in the pool) be a leader and we have a total of 5 teams... How would this hurt? I understand that Oddball is coming back on the 9th and we have to discuss all matters with him first, but I just wanted to float this idea past yas. (I'm trying to get in this tournament 'cause I love playing CTF SO MUCH! LOL!) ;)

Saturday, May 07, 2005 at 5:33:09 AM

^Agreed
I asked to be put in the Reserve Pool.

Saturday, May 07, 2005 at 6:29:48 AM

The only problem w/ playing at 7pm EST during the week is that it's 4 pm on the west coast, which means people are still working. 9/10 PM EST is the most ideal time for the large percentage of people here. It's not late for east coast americans and a couple hours after work for west coast americans. Weekends aren't good because people usually have stuff to do. I myself am never home during the weekends at all. I'm not even home now.

As for making ONE more team, it would just make things more difficult. One team would have to sit everyweek. If we had enough for 2 teams I'd be all for it though.

Saturday, May 07, 2005 at 8:45:10 AM

So should I drop out of the tournament as I wont be able to make the games? :[ :( :S

Good Point LilAlienD I guessi'll play next season........
I still want to be put in the reserve pool anyhow.............
It gives me hope XD

Looks like 36 people or so maybe 6 teams of 6.
That would be a big hassle having to repick teams and all.

Saturday, May 07, 2005 at 4:37:05 PM

@ All
Reserve Pool Updated ! Oddball is due back tomorrow some time, so I hope to have all this worked out with him and the captains I say by Wed, I hope ! B)

Saturday, May 07, 2005 at 8:29:40 PM

So, have we decided on the actual game time? It looks like pedro is going to have to drop if the games are at 9:00 EST. Does anyone else have an issue with that time?

Monday, May 09, 2005 at 4:06:52 AM

9pm EST is perfect for me.

Monday, May 09, 2005 at 5:45:32 AM

If that is 8 CST Then it is all good for me...

Here's my situation.

If the games will be played any time ealier than 11 pm EST (or later) on Thursdays, Bolo won't be able to play since he has band practices on Thursday nights. Since I haven't got any emails back from him with his proposals for other days, I can't tell what his alternative suggestions are.

If the games are to be played any time later than 6 pm EST on Thursdays (or any other weekday), Trivox is unable to participate as well.

If Bolo isn't answering back to me within the day, today (tonight tops), I will be forced to pick not only one, but two new players...

@ Bolo. It's nothing personal at all, it's just the nature of organization.

Monday, May 09, 2005 at 9:59:08 AM

Add me to the reserve. I'll play in this one.

Monday, May 09, 2005 at 10:05:20 AM

I'm asked to express a request from my team to investigate if the game days (Thursdays) would be subject for any change at all. Looking at the information gathered from my team members, it appears that Trivox can't play this tournament since it's too late for him (he's +7 hours ahead of EST time zone) and Bolo can't play Thursdays ealier than 11 pm EST.

In Trivox' place, I would hereby request to recruit Supra.

Ok folks....28 TT emails!!! Jeeez

My connection has been dead since fri night. I havnt emailed, played, or posted a GD thing since. Im at work now. I'll try to get it working tonight.

European times are really pissing me off. Every league EVERY TIME I clash with them.

I think I might have to drop the league. I cant practice at 6pm central as I just get home and I cant play thurs til late from band practice.

Thats ok. If I cant play in this league ill start up another league instead. It wont be CTF but something....i gotta have my TT (hehe)

@ wiz. It's nothing personal at all, it's just the nature of organization.

Wow man, you have understood my message wrong. You were asking what time I would prefer to play, and I told you that the best times for me would be Friday and/or Saturday, and time when I would like to play wouldn't be later than 6 pm. I never recall saying that I can't play after that, because I can (well won't be so efficient then thought). I can play around 7 pm at Thursdays (maybe even 8 pm), but 9-10 pm aint working for me (as the game times looks like to be?).

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Monday, May 09, 2005 at 12:54:08 PM

Well Im in +1 and EST is -4, So if the games are at 7PM it will be 12PM for me. I may also have to drop out because of the times :S

Monday, May 09, 2005 at 1:23:30 PM

Why are we even going through all this time zone non sense... We have been playing at 10PM EST for a while now.. So why is it even up for discussion? No offence to the people that are on the otherside of the world but... We have been playing PS leagues this way... Why would CTF be any diff?

Besides... There have be times where I have been on both early (12 noon to 4 PM EST) and late (after 1 AM EST) and have seen NONE of the regulars or people on this list playing... Everyone knows... If you want the best games you play from 8PM EST to 12 midnight EST... Sorry.. Its just the way it is...

Monday, May 09, 2005 at 2:31:19 PM

^ OMG for once me and corey agree.....corey was a member of RAVAGE, my team during the first CTF league.

Actually I think we should adopt the same rules, GAME TIME, captains, players, etc AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE as the last league. It worked and worked well....

I was a founding father, captain of the best team, highest scoring player, etc of the first CTF league.

Now I cant even play.....sry I just had to say that cause im pissed :)

Hope you'all have fun!!

Now.

@ Bolo. Please read my email to you. I totally feel your pain here and I also do the same for Trivox. Let's just say the gods of circumstances weren't fair on you, fellows.

In anyways, I hope that I can sometime in the future enjoy the honor of playing with you.

To the remainder of my team, the Almighty Falsetto Ferrets. Let's do our darn best to make it up for our lost heroes!

Here is where we move on.

Great draft everyone! Thanks Captains and Lone.

I am back and sorting out the issues. Captains check your e-mail from me. Check back tonight for an update and schedule of matches.

One thing for sure is that we have not been able to secure any arrangement with Dan Mac as to a locked CTF server.

I understand that some people have made CTF mods. Please host these so that everyone can evaluate. If its good we may use it for the League.

I've made a map that I installed ArtCrazy's cutom made CTF script on. It didn't work too well, since there were many bugs in it. Here are the main ones that I noticed:

1. The 'scoring clock' is counting way too fast.
2. It seems that you're sometimes (if not always) out of ammo when you spawn.
3. When passing through the ammo gates, you won't get the short speed up effect on your tank.
4. It seems that you can't get those special powerups that are unique to CTF.
5. This is not a bug, but rather an integrated function, in which I understand the purpose, but in practice, it's no good; the anti-teamkill function. It makes you run out of ammo if you accidentally hit your own team members.
6. You 'can't' have any bots on the map.
