I just got an email from SteAlth. It seems he is leaving TT and stepping down as Comissioner of this Tourney, and as a participant. :(

I will double-check this information! But the way it stands right now is that SteAlth has asked me to take over as Comissioner for this Tourney.

First of all, we will miss you SteAlth! We all are confident that you will come to your senses soon! ;)

Here's the bottom line on this Tourney. I will be swinging THE HAMMER! WE NEED TO GET THESE GAMES PLAYED FAST!! We need to be putiing more of an effort to get these games played AT ALL COSTS!

2 on 2 Team Scrum is one of the most intense gaming experiences ever -- because every second matters, every individual bullet you take or deliver matters, every smooth driving maneuver you nail makes the difference in winning or losing each goal. Given the intensity of these games, when we look at the intensity with which we are scheduling the matches, the difference is SHOCKING!

Actually in the rules it states that the deadlines up top are scheduling deadlines. That means the game needs to be scheduled in stone by that time. You still get several days if necessary to complete the match. I think we are on track to get the next round of games scheduled by then, no?

!!!!!And I was not tired!!!!! I had to fight through the first round with my parents hounding me to go to bed. I had specified in the planning thread that I'd only be able to play until 10 pm Central and by the time we were done with the first round it was already 10:30. I'm serious in saying that my parents were about to literally about to pull the plug on our match. Considering the alternatives I've been very accomadating.

Besides, you still come out with a win for the match. And if we can't get the other rounds in before the deadline, then you win automatically. (Note that I'm trusting you not to just "happen to be unavailable" through Sunday)

Here is how I saw things:

You never said anything before, during, or after about playing any other games at another time. The nomal thing to do unless previously agreed upon is to play the whole match at one time. We all have our scheduling difficulties and it makes it that much harder to schedule 2 different times when we're all available, but you did not say a word about this in any of our communications. The exact timing of things was: game 1 winding down....20 seconds left... Someone -- either you or rogue said that the map sucked and it was boring...time ran out and we won....game 2 started and you said you were tired and had to go to bed. No comment at all about playing another game some other time. It looked to me like you were frustrated that you lost game 1 and just quit.

So, we need a ruling on this so we can move things along.

Note: If the powers that be decide that you are entitled to more games, Rogue is now permanently your partner because you replaced Pedro.

First of all, I never said I was tired! All I said was "I've gtg to bed." I didn't have any time to elaborate, much less schedule another match. I do apologize for not trying to arrange it before the game. I had looked at the clock when we decided to play and I thought we had enough time. Of course, I didn't expect it to take half an hour to set up the server!

For the record, it was rogue that said the map sucked for 2v2.

It does not say in the rules that if you leave, then there's an automatic forfeit for subsequent games. Granted, it makes sense for it to be a forfeit if it's in the middle of a game, but I managed to to get to the end before my parents came along.

Finally, I really had no reason to be frustrated. Honestly, I thought we were going to be flogged. What chance do a first round bye'er and a replacment have against two of the best in the business. I was elated to do so well.

(Finally, finally, does anyone have an actual screenshot? If the game wasn't properly documented, doesn't that make the point moot?)

Obviously you've never met my parents. You remember that poor little kid in high school who never got to stay out past ten and was even forced home at midnight on prom night (that'll probably happen). I'm talking about the kid whose parents followed him into every friend's house to check for parental supervision. That kid is me. It sucks.

Of course I'll get my revenge and be those parents to my kids someday. XD

@Eol... My parents were strickt, but not that bad. I ended up rebelling and ended up ok. Don't worry, in a few years all you will have to worry about is mortgage payments, life insurance, health insurance, car insurance, car payments, ira's, stocks, meeting deadlines, waking up in the middle of the night with the kids, changing poopy diapers, and maybe, just maybe, you might have enough energy and time for one round of ThinkTanks!! :S

Ok guys, Paisano and I have talked it over and we both agree that we don't like how this went down. We don't want a cheap win. So, assuming we can get the thing scheduled we are willing to play game 2 (and 3 if necessary) vs. Rogue and Eol, assuming Rx allows this. I still don't like how there was no mention of splitting it up, but we want to take the high road here. However, given that we have a very short period of time to get thie thing scheduled, if we can't work a time out quickly we might just have to let it stand.

Don't worry about it Demo. I'm going on a trip to Minnesota this weekend (part of the reason I wanted to get it done quickly). We could try a Sunday night game, but that would be shaving it very close. Plus we'd have to find Rogue and get him to agree. I, personally want a stress free weekend considering the week 've just been through. (Calculus isn't a mortgaga payment KKB, but it still sucks. :) )

Besides it's already marked that we lost. It looks like Rx already decided.

Hmm..did I miss something? Did you and Hanky win the last 2 on 2 team scrum tournament? Oh yeah...you couldn't have because THIS IS THE FIRST ONE! So how the hell could you call yourselves the champs? If memory serves that was for 3 on 3 team scrum with jangles. This is a whole other animal, brother. Also, I think it's rather premature and egotistical (even for you) to assume that you will meet us in the final four because you still have to beat Racer445 and EvilTwin!!! They are no slouches and could actually beat you two mooks. Oh wouldn't that be sweeeet!!! Hey, a man can dream, can't he?! :)
Actually, I will be pulling for team HOBO (Hanksta + Bolo). If you guys are going to go down then I want us to be the one who do it! (best effort at talking trash, forgive me).

Looks like Thunder & Lightning (Demolition and Paisano) are the champs since we were the only ones to get our match completed before the long passed deadline of 4/15/2005! Come on, people..... Let's get your treads in gear!
Reagent, you need to start waving that hammer! Even though your team is also guilty of being slackards!
You and Ho need to get it done. Note: For future reference, the commissioner of any league or tournament should NOT also be a player! This is not a good combo.....and makes it hard to be fair and unbiased. For example, there's no way that Reagent X (or Tally Ho in 3 on 3 tourny) would ever disqualify his own team.

If I am correct the deadline is only a scheduling deadline. The games do not have to be played by 4/15, only scheduled. All matches except BH vs PP have done just that.

^ is correct ! Ours is on Mon night at 8:30pm CST :P

Pai, as has been mentioned many times before, the scheduling deadline means you need to have your game time scheduled (i.e. Written in stone) by the deadline. The only slackers right now are BH vs. PP.

Thanks guys. Sorry about the misunderstanding. I didn't know the actual meaning of the deadline, it makes a big difference.
I look forward to seeing who else joins us in the final four of the 2005 2 on 2 tournament!

Well it looks like BH and PP played their match -- except that it was a 1 on 1 with Tanky against Racer! Sorry this couldn't have been a full 2 on 2, but I it seems BH moves onward and upward.

We need a solution to a server dispute.

I do not think we should play on naps
server, for the same reason nuts and lf
do not want to play on Rx server.

Im sure if it was the other way around
nuts and lf would say the same.

So I would like to know our options.

As admin, allow me to bounce the question on the floor back to the group.
Suggestions? People who run servers and tournaments and season deal with more BS and thanklessness than should be allowable by law.
Maybe you guys can figure out a solution on your own.

Tonight was a little difficult because we had two matches going on 30 minutes apart, and two servers available which clearly added to the confusion.

I think the matter of which server to choose depends on a number of factors. In this case (DS vs. WN) the hosters were not players - so both servers are "neutral" ground. Both servers were up early so players could check them out for lag. It is really up to all to discuss which server is better for all and agree on a plan before game start. Concerns about lag should be mentioned clearly before the game starts .

Switching servers after game 1 can often lead to delays, but it can be a fair way to do things (esp. If a hoster is also a player). In our game we intended to switch servers, but the other match was going into overtime.

In the case of DS vs. WN, DS won the 1st game in Rx server, and WN won game 2 in Nappy server. This forced a game 3. I suppose there was then a question about where to play game 3? But since RT vs. NM was already being played in Rx server, you didn't really have much choice. Practically speaking then, it made perfect sense to continue to play game 3 on Nappy server. If the lag was so bad was it mentioned by DS in game 2 or only in game 3? Sounds like a tough call. Let me know what else I am missing here.

No mention was made in game 2, it was not until game 3 that it was mentioned. Vash asked to go back to your server told him we couldn't due to your match (in the mean time Nuts,Memph & I are playing game 3 ) Thats all I am saying for now, I will wait tell you see the video to decide ! B)

Unless you have permission from both teams to be in the server STAY THE HELL OUT ! I have had with the BS of people just coming in when ever they feel like it. It cost us 2 goals in game 1 due to me stoping to yell at someone. Then after I told them to get out they came back in again, which I stopped to yell again, which was the second point we lost due to this BULL SHIT. It causes lag every time you come in, let alone I have no clue what you thought you were doing or how you got the pass. This needs to stop, I don't care who the hell you are, unless you are in the match or have both teams permission you have no REASON to be in there. This also happened in PSL8 by the way ! XO

If no problem with lag was mentioned in game 2, then I think the game 3 should have been played to completion on the same server.

If there is a strong reason why there should be a replay of game 3, lay it on me. I don't need to see the video. At this point I say the match goes to WN. You can't just leave a match in the middle. We don't have lots of servers to choose from, and we don't have much time left to complete the tourney. There are always going to be imbalances in ping/lag. This is practically impossible to accurately measure, so we have to expect some imperfection.

In my mind there is no reason for a redue of game 3. I also wanted to be fair though and let you see the video and comments for you to come to this same choice or have you make us redue it on Napalm's server. Not sure how lag was a factor do to we all had better ping in Napalm's any ways B)

I don't have to do what I do, and I don't appreciate being addressed in this manner. I rarely treat people like this. I also had a game I was trying to prepare for.

The whole reason the missing server even occured was, I was trying to make the already good conditions BETTER for YOU and your game no less. God that suck when people try to help. CHRIST!

What did I get from it? I got to play both of my matches on the west coast, providing very little oppertuninty to pull off an unlikely upset. I really didn't expect to win, but I wanted to make it real difficult for Tally and Reagent to win.

BTW: I gave only people who were to be in my servers the password. I don't think blame is directed at me regarding this but never the less, that was the whole point of changing the password between games which never happened due to the late running games. (My fault I suppose, as usual.)

I know first hand it is not easy to host and play, and to keep everyone happy. Your efforts are highly appreciated Nappy. Your server and hosting efforts have been essential to the success of this tourney.

I bet your last minute re-boot (which really shouldn't have been requested since things were really OK) probably caused your router to change your PC's local IP address, which meant that your router port forwarding no longer pointed to your machine.
