LC50 s Pregame Preview, brought to you by Magic 8 Ball

Week 6

LCs picks (19 for 30: 63% accuracy):

Eds @ Seeds : Eds and Seeds are battling for middle-of-the-pack bragging rights. Either team could be a contender if they can get things moving in the right direction. Expect 2 furious games, but the Seeds are destined for yet another night in Splitsville. Game 1: Eds by 5. Game 2: Seeds by 4.

Muts @ Locos : Can anyone stop the Locos? 6-game winning streak. Beating opponents by 18-point margins. Naturally-curly, easily-manageable hair. Someone has to put a stop to these maniacs, or it will be a Locos romp all the way to the Championship. Locos barely escape this week to continue their unprecedented run... Locos by 2 and 3.

Billies @ Bugs : Billies have added fresh blood (Paisano) to the roster and are well on their way to getting their act together after not losing a game to the Seeds last week. The Bugs have been running hot and cold all season long, however, and I really think the Billies could catch them off-guard. Tough call, but the 8-ball leads me to expect a lukewarm Bugs appearance on a Bug-friendly home field. Bugs by 3 and 1.

Top Ten Reasons Why Were Still Playing ThinkTanks

10. Seeing the Seeds get yet ANOTHER split.
9. Recovering from recent, disappointing trip to meet suspiciously hairy TT girlfriend in Toronto.
8. TT better than accidentally creating another mouth to feed.
7. Have now reclaimed Wednesday nights from The Lord.
5. Ignoring that 40-year Old Virgin movie for fear it may hit a little too close to home.
6. Successfully placed $20 bet with bookie: Billies win at least one match against the Bugs. Who can resist 10-1 odds?
4. Holding out for chance that a real lipstick lesbian, Apple-loving hottie will start playing TT.
3. Still trying to find the Muts vs. Locos game on ESPN2.
2. Honing skills for the BIGGEST AND BADDEST TT EVENT OF ALL TIME!® , July 9, 2006 in Oakland, CA. (Possible sister event maybe in Pittsburg .)
1. Still waiting for Tank Dork to come back.

Magic 8 Ball Question of the Week
Can someone, somewhere, stop the Locos?

Magic 8 Balls Answer: As I see it, yes.

Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 5:48:09 PM

Paisano has resigned from the league after asking to join the reserve pool, getting drafted and then playing 0 games. Tally please remove him from the roster.

Thanks for the compliments; glad everyone likes the 8-ball and no one is taking it too seriously.

As a special treat for those lucky enough to attend the BIGGEST AND BADDEST TT EVENT OF ALL TIME!® , one will be able to query the all-knowing, all-seeing, mostly-correct 8-ball in person.

A side note: Who designed the cool spinning X graphic featured in the top post? I would like their email address.

Reagent X had the static image in the initial post for PSX. I did the animation of the graphic.

Good luck people CTB vs eds hmm I wonder hows it going

Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at 7:22:52 PM

I played the bad guy this week. CTB was down a man and I refused a 3 on 3. See seasons 9 and 8.5 for my mini rants about getting hosed after allowing a 3 on 3 and then not getting the favor returned when we needed it. Sorry CTB.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Bad, bad, man.

Tally Ho, Esq.,
Hammer, Hammer, & Camp, LLC.

23 February, 2006

Dear Mr. Ho:

I believe the Eds should recieve 5 red dots for last night's matches against the Seeds, for a grand total of 15 on the season. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this matter further.

Kindly yours,

LC50 , Ph.D.

^ Actually the rules state that in this case the Ed's are not eligible for the bonus point. The bonus point is only awarded when the game is played against a full roster.

You can read about it in the official rules .

However, the bonus point will not be awarded if the losing team played the entire match with less than 4 players, or if the game was forfeited.

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 7:50:46 AM

So even if done doing 3v3 and one team wins both, only 4 points?

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 8:13:12 AM

I read those PSL rules like I read the instructions for putting a model airplane together. XD

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 8:19:46 AM

I would say that 3 on 3 should qualify for the bonus point.

-Rx

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 8:25:58 AM

Well how about that!

^ could be an incentive to go for 3 vs 3 to accomodate a team that has less players.I think the captains should vote on that point RX. %)

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 8:59:52 AM

Hey Elmo, I think you should worry about how many band aids you'll need rather than points! XD

How about the rules be amended to state that bonus point is awarded for the team winning both games when teams are evenly matched in both games ( ie. 3 vs 3, 4 vs 4, 5 vs 5 etc...)?

If either of the games have an unbalanced # of playes versing each other, then the bonus pt. Is not applicable.

And perhaps there should be an asterix caviate - *In any set of matches, if there is a 1 vs 5 game where the tteam with only 1 player wins, then every other team in the League suffers a Loss-Loss for that week's matches. A chaotic factor is always fun : )

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 10:51:17 AM

Just hand over that trophy and go on about your business.

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 11:24:26 AM

The illusion of the zero BYE lead that you have will soon disolve into the puddle of #$*# that it is. Owwwwch!! %)

Eh %)
My eyes don't look straight to you???

@ Bonus Point

The solution to awarding the bonus point if and only when an even match is played seems reasonable. It still seems as though the team that showed with a full roster is being penalized though by being forced into sittting 1 of their players in order to potentially acheive that 5th point. I hate to squabble about a single point but over the length of a season 1 or 2 points could make a big difference in standings. I do strongly feel that an even match should always be played for the sake of both fairness and sportsmanship but this current rule seems to favor the team that failed to feild a full roster if the team that did faithfully show up chooses to be good sports.

My suggestion would be this...keep the ruling as is so that good sportsmanship is still encouraged but dock the team that failed to show with a full roster 1 point. This would put the honus back on that team's members to try and participate in good faith. The current ruling allows for a situation where a team could lose position in the standings simply for the fact that their opponent didnt show up....something that they have no control over. This of course is adhering strongly to the fact that this league is designed to be a 4 on 4...not a 3 on 3 or a 2 on 2 of which are greatly different games in my oppinion.

If it's not broken don't fix it.

BTW, PLEASE TAKE PIA BACK, I'm getting depressed by the new spam queen on the general forum...

At first glance this may seem the case. But in the long view it is best for the health of the league. You want everyone to have a vested interest in having good attendence.

Rule changes or ammendments should wait until the following season. Perhaps, its best to move on and leave this for the future Psycho XI ruminations thread.
