As far as the maps go, I think that the initial selection process that was done was pretty good. Some of the maps that slipped through were not quite ideal, but it was still much better than in PSL8. Given what we learned in 9, the map selection committee should go back through all the available maps again and rebuild the list of approved maps. Many of those used in 9 will return, but I think there would be a few changes to the list.
1. Season X to start in early January after the Holidays :YES agree ASAP to keep us hot.
2. Give CTB the option of staying together YES.
CTB comes back to give you guys another crack at us and also for CTB to implant a new dynasty called the reign of the FUZZY's with guns.
3. Keep the same captains, re-pick the other teams?? Email the cappys to find out who wants back in and if some missing ask for volunteers.
I'm under the impression that this League is becoming more and more popular, so I think there will be more teams next season. Therefore need for more captains.
4. Allow each team to pick their home field and then submit it to the captains for an approval vote; Yes from a pre-approuved list of maps that has already been screened and deemed appropriate for 4 vs 4 teams. No more Slow big maps.
5. Hire a color consultant for the graphs and charts (she has to be a good looking though). Maybe not necessary, the overall look of this thread is always good, see the logos , the animations. Just pick more manly colors no pastels.
6. New players joining in mid-season... This was not too good. Maybe this should not be allowed anymore but as I understand this was done because of critical lack of players on only 1 team and thus it was an exception. In my opinion if the majority of Captains agreed on it then so be it.
7. Overall this season was real fun and everything went great. Only complaint is Lag but not much more we can do that is not being done. Also MI servers might do the trick here.
Dynasty of FUZZY's with guns... I like that.
Prize money for the winners....or lesbians. Definitely needs one of the two. Or both. Yeah, both.
IMHO it should stay on Wednesdays. If you change the day it runs on you run the risk of generating conflicts with other leagues; confusing players (it's tonight???); and losing more players than you would gain.
Should you include the original 12 as choices for the captains?
^I think so it would bring back some Original flavor to the game.
My concept was to not limit the map choices, but to open it up. The filtering would come in at the stage of the Captain's vote of approval. That would weed out any inappropriate maps. I will send Nappy our approved list from last time, but the list needs more work. I think this method may work better: Each team does its own research and comes up with their top picks and submits them to the Cappy's for approval. Yes/no?
What about some sort of tag-team element where a player could leave, go to an outside server or use IM, and tag a teamate to go back into the game?
That way if a player is rendered useless for some reason (smoke alarms, lag, etc.), it wouldn't toast the game for their team.
Also, we have bandwidth in the MI: server, so what about allowing teams to pick home maps that need 10 players?
And how about a drinking fountain in the lobby, I've got cotton mouth. XD
Sheena's Land before time ,small, very playeble map.
I think I speak for the eds that we would like to play together again. If other teams want to mix it up...thats cool with me. Win or lose, I like my special friends. %)
Other than more appropriate maps...i cant see how else we could improve this league. Lag is gonna be there for some at various times. As they say...if it aint broke......
Ooo...heres a thought. If we can get enough sign ups, we could have two divisions so that teams meeting in the playoffs will have less familiarity with each other. Maybe even do a west coast/east coast division with the winners of each in the finals. This may solve the lag issues a bit by keeping servers close to the participants of each game. Eight teams would do it...top two in each division play for the right to go to the finals.
Anyway...my 2 cents.
I thought that we kept the same teams for two seasons as we did in PSL7 & 8? Only exception is for teams/ players dissolving or leaving. I've heard some cappys wanna hang it up for a season. Not me. I want to keep the Billies together for many good reasons. :P
Maps, let cappies vote on them.
Start in Mid January.
Wednesdays.
Good idea Get Some!! Had the same idea myself.

@ Rx if some one can eliminate mountains on side of the map ,would be a good map.(just a thought) :)
@get some ,I like that idea also. Maybe it will work for next leagues , whan player selection would be based on player location. It will answer the qustion who is better East or West. XD (but how about players in the middle %) )

Could I sign up for PSL10? Or are you keeping the same teams like some people have suggested? :(
1 _ My team is staying together.
2 _ I'll do charts.
3 _ I think new players need to be VOUCHED FOR.
4 _ Divisions are not going to work. Six teams, and you play the other two teams in your division 4 times? Egads.
5 _ Find Dar and KJ
6 _ The stock maps need to have their spawns tweaked in the MM overlap method.
7 _ Playoff scoring needs to be addressed. I think AT LEAST two WINS should be needed for victory , a different standard than what is considered a regular season "win" [ 3 or more points ].
^nOOb!! XD
^^not any map because we have had problems with too big maps (lonewolf mountain, Rigor mortis) that make play too slow or just players are spawning too far from action and need 1 min to get back in... Thats why not any map Racer. ;)
^KKB where's our moonshine ?
In regards to Tally's #3... Maybe cappies can talk about/eliminate any questionable draftees.
@ RX
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Re - draft and mix it up,
either way I do not have the time to be Captain this coming season but will be there every time I am asked to play
4. Yes
5. Yes :P
@ Tally
3. I agree
6. Yes
7. Yes

What is all this xpack 3.5b nonsense?
rx did you just add that? Where did that list come from ? Who are these people?
How about instead of making us spend 15x minutes of our lives reviewing these things, if someone suggests them and the maps are unknown, POST 3 SCREENIES. Who has time for all this?
Bring me competition, not map boggle.

Might it be time to use the Lush maps again? An entirely mod-free league? It would even the playing field and make the game more about skill than map familiarity. And what about a small entry fee (with 'scholarships' available for special circumstances)? Pot gets split with donation to Dan Mac, donation to Commissioner and a prize for the winners. Having to cough up a $20 entry fee might prevent some of the attrition. Last season, a $20 entry fee (and granting 5 fee-waiving scholarships) would have created a $700 pot. Give Dan Mac a couple hundred, the commissioner a couple hundred and winning team splits the balance. If I don't show wifey some income opportunities from TTs soon, she's gonna break my computer or divorce me (not sure which would be worse). And what about the lesbians? Am I the only one in favor of more lesbians? We could use some of the money to hire lesbian cheerleaders for the final. GIMME a "C"! GIMME a "T"! GIMME a "B"!

Maybe a couple of new maps. Too many new maps saps competition especially if we are to get some more noobs to expand the league to 8 teams.
^yup entry fee but not $20 since some are kids maybe $10. Good idea; splitting it Dan mac.. Commissioner and winning team.
Yup for lesbians! I can have the suits for them made right here in Montréal. Of course I'm in charge of the sizing to make sure everything fits, and is tight in the right places...all over tight!
Guys we all get to practice on the new maps for a 2 weeks before the competition so it's fair to all.
Also lets talk to other guys that are reliable to join. I will talk to my brethren from ST. The commitment is easy 1 hour on wednesdays night and then 1-2 hours of practice other night of the week.
Captain is the spokesperson but everyone on the team is responsible to help out. For the seeds we have all pitched in to do our part, especially to discuss how to beat you guys.It worked didn't it.
@ Tally are you always like that? Chill a bit.
On second thought.
@Delta,
.. Tally taking a break, he must.
The Ho was talking a break from TT for a bit. This was said, in regards to the 3 on 3 ruminations with the Killer Flea's.
I am as well.
The Christmas break in PS league should be enough. Need a break. Doing work off season, Tally must?
I'm with 44. Maps I don't care, except when I have to host. I like the old maps. For me, it has never been about the color, the decoration, the arrows. It is the level of play. If you can not defend, because you are never in a play. That is bad and that could be the maps? We have had one sided 15 to 2 games where one team is always at the goal and the other is not. I refer to this as "No Touches!". I comment in PS games and any team game the same way. You are winning because we are not playing. You are scoring because we are not there.... If this can be prevented by map selection... I'm so there... I like playing team games against someone. If you can not get in the game because of spawns to Siberia, you are not playing against anyone. "No Touches!"
More on maps and PREY point of view.
If a team gets the ball at the goal 10 times and the other team gets the ball at the goal 3 times. Who wins? If a map can fix un-fair spawns position and ball too, let's do it.
Using the PS9 Deeks vs Billy's video. That was about the ratio of attempts at goals. For the team with three chances, they have to score all three to stay in the game. With the team which has 10 attempts. If they score 1/3 of the time, they are tied with the team who had 3 chances and scored all three. So who is playing better? Is it the team which scored very efficiently and has stopped a lot of attempts at goals? The score does not indicate who played better at the end of the game. At least in football each team gets the ball after the other team scores. Same in most team sports. In our games, one team could get the ball 4-5 times in a row, after a score. Should we then fix the map? I don't think maps have much to do with wins and losses. It is really chance in most games.
In the old days, the Ho's of the world would still break chance with steals at the goal, which they would then score. I had better times of this in previous PS leagues. I think the steal factor, does equal out the un-fairness. I belive the speed of the client computer and video card have a lot to do with how successful you are at steals. I belive my 800 mhz Imac is no longer up to the task in League games. I'm at a dis-advantage. Faster computers allow opponents to drive around me, while I'm waiting for my view frames to update. They have already completed a move, I haven't seen. The good news for me. In PS X, im going to use and upgraded computer.
Keep the ruminations flowing!
The idea here is to get everyone's ideas out on the table. Of course there will be disagreement on some issues, so be civil and speak your mind. No hard decisions will be made for another few weeks.

^ Well said RX.
- It's the 10th season, yeehaw. We could have a classic season, 5 x 5 on stock maps. We've been on mods for 5 seasons.
- I'd like to see the stock maps in the pool at least. Teams submitting maps I really like.
- I wouldn't mind going to 5x5. That gets more game time to more players and reduces the whine about spawns. Spawns are part of the game. Let's not over think it over what happened in a particular game. They go both ways.
- Roster size should remain as is. Add a seventh team if need be.
- Go with Rogue's previous suggestions about in season replacement players or mid season availability.
- Playoffs go to a straight out 3 out of 5 games played Tues & Weds night. Edit: Best points in 4, 5th if needed.
- Entry fee? I'm not givin' my ducats to you foo's! Each team could play for a charity.
- Capt's discuss out of bounds script. Is it really necessary anymore?
- Unless someone has a new stupendous solution, hosting home games stays as is. Lag effects everyone at various times and still is location dependent to some degree.
- Let teams trade players if they want a better mix based on location. If not, just make game rosters accordingly.
- Keep it simple.
- Where's Tank Dork?

I'm not fighting this bullshit again. Tally, if you don't have time, your problem, give someone else your proxy.
What is all this xpack 3.5b nonsense?
rx did you just add that?
Napalm did that
Where did that list come from ? That's the list that we (the map committee) used to view maps for last season. Where were you?
Who are these people? Your worst nightmare
How about instead of making us spend 15x minutes of our lives reviewing these things, if someone suggests them and the maps are unknown, POST 3 SCREENIES. Who has time for all this? Ah ya, Rx, Bolo and I did that for last season and that's this list. Feeling stupid yet?
Bring me competition, not map boggle. YA, your team chose a great map last season! Riromortis wasn't it? Maybe you should put in the 15x.
I'll bet I spent more time preparing and fixing stuff for this league last night than it would take you to check out the maps.
When has your time become more important than others?
The Prince of Scrum does not have the time, Let's all accommodate Tally.
Ya, 3 screenies will project the maps playability.
As usual All the education and so clueless

Hi Napalm, I've sent you an email.
@ all I think Napalm's server is useful in helping to choose, explore and discuss the maps that are on the table for PSL X. Who feels the same way as I do about this? SAY YES for napalm.
PS Tally if you don't have time to play the maps before they are discussed so be it. Simply say I have looked at screenies of this map , I haven't played this map but I believe...(here Tally fills in). This way others will be aware of your research before stating your opinion.
Lets move forward, all that is helpful should be considered.
Haven't checked in for a bit but I concur with getsome, the Ed's would enjoy staying together.
Let captains choose their own map out of the hundreds. Please select small maps.
Two divisions sounds nice.
Averaging script is below average, lose it. Have the scrum spawn in the middle after it bounds off of the map? Possible? Yah, I know, nobody will like that idea.
Eight teams would be great, but I fear the reaper if we do. Could we find two people that want to captain and then have a PSL signup thread and see if we attract enough players for two more teams? If we found two captains now they could recruit their buds who currently aren't playing. At least we'd know sooner than later if expanding is feasible.
I really hope we keep all teams together so we don't have to hold a draft again.
AZ I completely forget what my idea was about the reserve pool. Must have been written prior to one of my self induced blackouts.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.
Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.
Rx stated having teams submit their own maps. Does that solve it for you poop slingers?
Rogue um it was something along the lines of replacement players only taken mid season and first dibs would be given to the team with the lowest point total.
@Napalm and Tally. We need you both. As Rx said this is time to talk things over and then work things out. Divisions are an awesome idea but cannot be done this season IMHO. Will post more later. Yeeehaw PSL X!!! XD
It would only work if the maps are approved by a majority. Meaning the captains. I see no difference then thet team that recently picked Rigormortis ridge, Db10 and Scrum Totem Island for league play.
And it's Mr. Poop slinger to you AZ.
@Az,
Where is also:
Ge0rge, Paco, Laggy, Jangles, AssClone, Kid, Sherman, Z?
If we go classic, we should probably pull the first ones...
I like 5x5 because the spawns in Siberia are less. I hate the spawn randomizer stuff, placing the ball at the goal if you fall off (ball in center of everyone , so ball at goal. It has to go, as it gives an easy goal if you fall) and the out of bounds script that causes this! Further the out of bounds script does not work on Linux. At least not for me. If you allow goal camps, allow the fall to re-rack. I hate that both happen, I hate both equally. The BM players, stall and wait for the goal is clear. Hate it. It is not classic scum. You are not playing against anyone. You are just scoring.
Back to my TT not playing vacation. See you in January. Hmmm Prey posts seem to keep going into a whine. VACATION...
Oh... For Chistmas I wish 44 some lesbians...
Ya no need for a lifelong feud here. I think it's clear we have had great competition here in Psychoscrum for a long time - both on stock and modded maps.
I want PSLX to be all about having the best competition. That means the most fair, the most intense, the most challenging and the most fun. The map it is played on is only one component of many.
So I feel quite strongly that all maps are fair game. Of course many are not appropriate. But by playing on a good variety of maps in the last couple of PSL seasons, I think we collectively know alot more about what makes a great map. I have confidence in our current group of captains to make the final approval.
In a way this fits in to great argument for keeping the teams together for next season. I know for my team, we learned alot about what works for us in terms of playing well together as a team, and what kind of map best suits our style of play. So we would welcome the opportunity to select our top choices for maps we would like to have as a home field. If any of our choices had some pitfalls, the committee of captains would not accept the choice. I think this system allows the most freedom of choice!
So for now, envision keeping your team - which map would you choose to put you at your best advantage?
@Nap - I really wouldn't take any of this personally. I think your server having rolling rotation of some of the scrum-friendly maps is a great service for people to go map shopping. I hope you decide to put it up again.
Also, we should definitely be trying to recruit new players. I would suggest focusing on reputable people that you know and who have the maturity to handle all of this. A good attitiude is the top priority. We also need to think of ways to incorporate noobs.
One more thing: I like the idea of 5 x 5, because it has an "x" in it. ;) No seriously, should we consider 5 on 5 for next season? It would affect map choices to be sure. But we didn't have any attendance-related crises this season, and it is kind of a shame to leave players on the bench. Just a thought.
This is what's currently in the server. If you want something added just say so. I'll add it.

Hey Napalm does this mean you're not gonna put up 'Hanukkah Hamlet' for Tally? :)

It's time once again to start the discussion for next season!
Let's toss out ideas on how to improve things. I think season 9 went really well, but let's air out ideas to keep it fresh.
I am thinking:
1. Season X to start in early January after the Holidays
2. Give CTB the option of staying together
3. Keep the same captains, re-pick the other teams?? Sound off on this one.
4. Allow each team to pick their home field and then submit it to the captains for an approval vote
5. Hire a color consultant for the graphs and charts (she has to be a good looking though XD )
Let's hear what's on your mind.
Let's do it! Yeeehaw!!
-Rx
EDIT: Napalm has put up a server with some suggested maps. This is not meant to be an exclusive list. At this point you can still consider any map.
