News update 5/7/06

IMPORTANT NEWS CONCERNING TT_MOD_PACK® UPDATES
I have had some very good suggestions from people concerning ways to organize the TT_Mod_Pack®. As of May 1st, 2006, I will now keep two files updated and available: the TT_Mod_Pack® and a file called "mods_since_5_1_06". I will add new mods only to the mods_since_5_1_06 folder, until it gets to be 5 MB or so and then I will start another folder.

This way the bulk of the classic mods will not have to be re-downloaded by you all the time. The TT_Mod_Pack® folder contains everything from the beginning up until May 1st, 2006 and will be static from now on. Any mods created after that date will go into subsequent update folders. So now would be a good time to mek sure you have the full TT_Mod_Pack® installed, and in the future you will only need to get the update folders.

If you are new to the game and want everything, you will need to put the contents of both folders into your game/data/missions/folders (as per the original directions).

I think this will make it easier for you to get just what you need, and will make it faster for me to upload updated files.

We have been having an absolute BLAST playing team scrum on some new Mods. Come join us. All you need is to pre-download the terrain files, and you won't have to wait at all to join the game!

I have consolidated many of the Mod terrain files into convenient downloads for you. I will continue to keep this updated until one day maybe -z- will have the opportunity to add this to his Resources section.

TT Mod Pack®!!
Download the 'Official' TT_Mod_Pack® Here!! UPDATED 4/18/06 (38 Mb)
This contains all the mods created up until 5/1/06 (MonkeeMods, CrapBlasterMods, dashMods, RacerMods, TrivoxMods, RoosterMods, NapalmMods, KillinBrainCellMods, ScytheManMods, PharmaceuticalsMods and much much more).
Latest addition: This folder is now static and will not be updated. If you downloaded this Mod_Pack as of 4/18/06 you do not need to get it again.

MOD UPDATES! Here are the more recent mods created after the main TT_Mod_Pack® was frozen. mods_since_5_1_06.zip (1 Mb). Updated: 12/10/06
Latest addition: Roo's newest set: Rstr44.ter - Rstr50.ter.

--

These are the same files as in my previous thread , but I wanted to give this thread a more recognizable name.

Instructions for Installing the Mod Packs

1. Download the above.zip file to your desktop and unzip. You will have a folder of terrain files (that end in.ter).

2. Locate the ThinkTanks® application on your computer.

3. Control click on the ThinkTanks® application icon.

4. Select "Show Package Contents" from the menu.

5. Navigate through the folders until you find the "Missions" folder.
Folder path is Contents/Resources/game/data/missions

6. Copy all the provided.ter files (e.g. MM_Lush01.ter, MM_Lush02.ter, etc) directly into the "Missions" folder. (In this folder you will also see files such as TT1_1.ter and TT1_2.ter. These are the original terrain files that came with the game. Do not delete or replace these files)

7. If ThinkTanks® is already open then quit and restart it.

ENJOY!!!

Hey Lone!

Wow that is ancient history! Actually those are from the pre-TT_Mod_Pack days. ACA's mods used the original terrain files, so that you didn't have to wait to enter the mods. Since the invention and distribution of the TT_Mod_Pack, we have been able to venture into the arena of new terrains altogether. I do still have the ACA mods though. I will work them in to a rotation some time.

You need to predownload and install the files for these mods. Roo said that Napalm's expansion pack is needed for his newest maps Get the expansion pack here .

Most of the current terrain files are available in the Mod_Pack (see first post in this thread for the link). You should download and install this too.

If you don't predownload you will have to wait MANY minutes to load all of the necessary files for a mod.

Friday, March 25, 2005 at 11:27:46 AM

Roo9.ter from Rooster added today to the mod_pack and to the recent_mods folders.

Also I moved the files to a different server since they have grown to be so big! :P I checked the links and they seem to work now. Sorry if they were broken for a bit.

Woot! Had fun driving around Nap's new maps yesterday. Can't believe the sheer amount of new terrains and textures that have come out in the past few weeks. It's like a whole new game! Keep 'em coming!

Friday, April 01, 2005 at 9:21:26 AM

@ Cadc (SA) (Leader)

Do you have more information on which server and what map you were trying to access. The best thing to do if you hit a block likr this is to run the app via a dos or command line. You should be able to see the errors or which files it's trying to download. One thing I have noticed with this error is sometimes it the terrain file has been modified but not renamed this error will occur. Try getting rid of the terrain file and downloading an new one. Without morre information this is the best I can offer at this time.

OMG! Idiot Free Indi!

NUTS! Has been gracious enough to host a 6 man Indi Server for all of us to use. Several of our favorite TT players have the PSW and will hopefully allow you to be able to play fun games of Indi Scrum. Unless the server is full you should now have no reason to get bitter about morons in a game of Indi.

You know I was just noticing that the expansion pack replaces the default stuff too.
This is dangerous because it conflicts with skinning.
So you have to be unnecessarily selective about the files.

Also is v 1.1 exactly the same as it was a month ago or are there new maps and stuff? The dates are different.
There is way to much stuff in there on top of all the crap that has been uploaded from peoples servers to keep straight.
If and when there is a v 1.2 of the Expansion pack maybe it should only be totally new stuff.

MAX

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 3:57:38 PM

Max, The reason the Expandsion Pack contains stock items is, I was triyng to make a complete package that would work well in TT and TGE. I omitted the Tanks directory as I felt most of the skining resided there. I know there is a very samll number of people like Matser TMO who have replaced the stock terrains with their own, but they also seem to be in tune with this, and typically don't fall to replacing the items they changed themselves. The Expansion pack is locked down for now, and when we have sufficient additions, I will look at removing the stock items and test setting up TT and TGE with the new expansion pack. I think Roo's additional skies should be a stand alone item at this point I can add it to my expansion pack 1.2 (for future release) with some other goodies. I didn't think the size was a big deal as a high speed connection is all but reqired to play this game anyway. Thanks for the suggestions! Food for thought.

Cool dash! Hasn't it already gone some time before you published terrains last time? :) I just played DC2 several minutes ago. Very fun map: big hills and fast arrows launching to the sky. After it came DC1, but for some odd reason when I try to join it. It keeps saying to me: "A Connection Error Occurred. (Invalid Package.)" What's up with this?

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 8:27:12 AM

@ Triv
That means there's something that doesn't match or your missing a file like a sky file or something like that. I'm going to check them out tonight when I get home. Triv, launch you app through a terminal or dos window, you may be able to get some information if it's looking for a file.

@ Dash
Did you use any of the expansion pack items in these new maps?

Friday, April 15, 2005 at 9:45:39 AM

Lol Napalm I know that. I was kind of asking from dash is there something wrong in his terrain and could he check if there is something wrong, because I doubt it's my side problem.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

I tried two ways get in. Firstly I used already downloaded terrain (DC1). I couldn't get in with it. I got the error which I posted above. Then I thought maybe dash put wrong terrain to package and removed DC1 from my files. Now I let the server send me the DC1 terrain, but I got the same error again which makes me believe that the error is in dash side maybe. Well it could be also in my side, but kind of hoping if dash could check it out. :)

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

@ Triv&Dash
I had the new dash maps up as indi scrum maps (very fun!) and we had the same problem with DC1. (as Triv know since he was there) I was able to get into it using my expansion pack copy of Think tanks. I tried to find what it was that regular TT didn't have but couldn't.

Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 10:02:00 AM

There is a problem on DC1 map. You can not play it if you don't edit your TTanks files. What you need to do to get it work is: Copy the 'detail1' texture from ThinkTanks/game/data/terrains/details/*detail1* and paste it to ThinkTanks/game/data/missions/game/data/terrains/*detail1*

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 10:59:13 AM

Completed another Mod today. Will add tonight and put my expansion pack rotations back up.

Friday, April 22, 2005 at 12:48:09 PM

You shouldn't have that kind of location in your directory, but you need to have it if you want to play dash's DC1 map.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Friday, April 22, 2005 at 1:32:35 PM

That file, in that location, exists in the Expansion Pack. I can only assume that Dash created that mod after installing the Expansion pack. If nothing else was used from the expansion pack on that mod, (not sure, as I haven't see it yet) the easiest thing would be for Dash to just change the location on the mission file and re-release it.

Or, install the Expansion Pack and the file will exist with all of the other files added.

BTW here's another mod I whipped up today.

Whoa!
Fasten your seatbelt. Your going to need it. Lots of levels and ridges.

This one is called
Rib Kicker
Will add to rotation later tonight
