We (team 4) can play Tuesday or Wednesday evening at 7 pm (PST). Later may also work. Will that work for your team?

Let's do it!!

Why is it that I see the shadow of the Almighty Disqualifier's hand?

Be scared, be very scared. I saw Tally putting his bronze gloves.

Sign up is easy, to show-up is the challenge!

Sorry for the slow response guys...been watching General Forums only. I can play practically any weeknight with a start time between 7pm - 10:30pm EST. Can't play much later than that because, as you can see from the time stamp below, I get up very early for work. Saturdays and Sundays are generally wide open.

This Wednesday night I'm travelling. How about tonight?

@Team Tally

Hmmmm... Sometime Friday might be best then. Team 11 is working with early bedtimes here.... Latest Dar can play is 8PM during the week (not sure if that includes Friday night). Still trying to get info out of Ben. 6PM Pac is about as late as I can start a game during the week (I'm in another time zone and have to go to/get up early during the week.... Although I'm trying to relocate to San Diego so it will be easier to play with you guys, lol). Friday night is wide open for me, I think. I'll check on Friday night with Dar/Baba and Ben.... Would it be possible to extend the 1st round window to Friday? If not, maybe we can work in subs who can party late.

Also: Moneuesday comes right after Humsday, but before Satrisday. 17PM Medulla is also 2AM Spooky time. They don't keep time on Frantic cause the clocks keep melting.

I can Only play practically any weeknight with a start time between 7pm - 8:00pm EST

@kris well dude that f'ing sucks

Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 11:09:21 PM

Yo Kris (Team #14) I think you guys are in Europe right?

EDT means EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME.

4 EDT is 1 PDT meaning PACIFIC TIME. There is no Western time per se.

I'm good with any time, however playing duyring daytime causes my nails to curl up.

Also tell your partners in crime to register on PTT. It's free and no big deal.

HB from team #3

Tally (aka the Almighty Hand) we might need up to Sat-Sun to settle everything.

Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 3:18:00 AM

I haven't seen anyone on my team in a while so I'm not sure. We don't even have a captain. I'll try to find them but can't say much at this point

What works you yall?

Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 8:57:01 AM

(Oh that news update...hehe) yes we should extend time, unfortunately we are dealing with a variety of time zones, work/ school schedules, bedtimes etc..

Just goes with the territory. Some patience may be required here ( with a big stick at the end)

Anyone seen any sign of Team #13 (Tomago, Ramrod, Leopard)

They haven't posted in forums or responded to emails.

Ramrod apparently changed his email address. Messages bounced back.

Team @13 where are you???

@ Tally

About the only way teams w/ members in Europe can play teams w/ members in North America is to wait until the weekend. I think you should give the first round until Sunday to give those teams a chance to play. Depending on who makes it to the 2nd round, you might have to extend it to the weekend as well. Otherwise, teams are going to lose because of where they live regardless of whether they have tried to set up a match. :(

And remember, you'll be the one who has to make those tough decisions.

My 2 cents.

MJ

Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 9:28:36 AM

Ok ok. Since the west coast of america in some form or another is think tanks mean time, each round goes one week, and ENDS ON SUNDAY NIGHT, MIDNIGHT, WEST COAST PACIFIC TIME.

No more discussion.

So it is written.

Ps. DONT PUTZ AROUND.

Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 10:26:19 AM

Aww :[ does that mean I'm gonna have to redo all my picks?

If we had a secure account with paypal, we could do a pool! Whoever gets the most winning picks gets the pot! Ties split the pot equally...

BTW, when I say "pot" I am not talking about the kind you smoke! Sorry FP, :(

I would like to recommend that everyone starts a new thread to organise their individual matches much as I and another pairing have done.

Once the match is over, the result can be posted in that thread and it is then easy to keep track of things. At the end of round one when everyone has played their matches, I'll simply delete all the round one threads and the process can start again.

This should save this thread from getting too cluttered.

Team 13 are you there?

Rumor has it that Ramrod is AWOL.

I dropped in a BM game to encourage Leopard to get in touch...but he didn't even respond

(didn't want to break concentration I'm sure)

Haven't heard from Tomago.

Don't feel like I should have to organize their team, but, I don't want to win by a stinking forfeit.

Is there still a pool of stand by talent in case Ram is gone and the others surface?

Team #4's tanks are polished and glistening in the sunshine.

Ready to scuff them up.

@BABA,

Regarding RAMROD, I emailed RAMROD today at his TT yahoo account and the email got kicked back to me as account-closed. Darn. I apologized to him in the forums and in emails for our high profile argument (that was actually at the hands of a Ramrod impersonator) and he never responded once.

I hope he isn't still trying to figure out how to take legal action against me. He seemed pretty determined to pursue that course of action. Wouldn't that be something?

Anyway, just thought you should know.

Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 7:23:25 AM

@Baba - DJ_Breaka lil_flip2o4@hotmail.com wanted to play. He posted on GG site same thread. Guess he doesn't have PTT. That would be a good start. Sign up Perdurabo and some how get Burnsie or a third like MAX-CR or CLAX. Kentucky should be in as well. Tank Dork tankdork@cox.net. Even DEMO Merv ragcon2@hotmail.com. We should be able to form another team which could become a favorite.

Team 9 moves up the bracket with a hearty 34-14 win over Team 8.

We actually played 2on2 with Sniper and Gnomie's absences (Sniper had work and haven't heard from Gnomie - we missed you guys!). But the show must go on!

Screenies are in the match thread...

Thanks again Tally!

RANT AND WARNING TO OTHER TEAMS.....Don't allow your game to have lag. Demand a stop if you are lagging,

I realize this is going to sound like I am being a whiner or a sore loser.....that's what makes the whole problem even more frustrating.

I had considered a great many possibilities for each game. Tried to be prepared for anything that came at me. Closely watched my opponents over the last week, I covered all of my bases.

But I never considered what the game would be like if I had really REALLY bad lag.

Tally Ho and I were both vocal about the problem early in the game. (I was ranting about the lag during warmup and was told that the problem would be gone as other games on the same server would be closed). In the game, TH and I were apparently the only two that had the problem. To make matter worse, whenever I would be up close to Ben (SA) I would get the broken connection flashing on screen and would have studdering freezes. We should have stopped the game.

I am not trying to take away from the excellence of our opponents. You guys played two great games. It is just frustrating that we did not get a chance to compete with you fully.

So my warning to other teams....Demand the game be stopped if you are lagging at the beginning of the game, otherwise you will just end up flaming angry like me and TH.

Do me a favor and don't criticize me for this post. I am doing you a favor. Yes, I am angry and yes I wish we could have a rematch. I have played this game a long time and I know just how bad it was....I should have stopped the game.

Re: lagfests

It's one thing to go ahead and play a player down when you have a set, agreed-upon time, but heavy lagging makes it impossible to play on a level field. I'll take lucky spawns any day, and I feel like the stars are aligned against me when my opponents get a string of them, but I wouldn't wish lagging on my opponents no matter who they were. Personally, I'll propose an alternate server if it happens in future matches I'm in on.

@Ween: LOVE that team photo!

If lag is an issue, you should switch hosts... I remember how frustrating it could be to be in the middle of an important game and get lagged all to hell... If it was really bad, I would even say a rematch would be in order.

I have a high speed cable modem. When lag was an issue while I was hosting, I would just shut everything down, unplug my modem for about 15 seconds then power everything back up. This would usually do the trick. I don't know why or how, but it worked... Most of the time...

Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 10:57:33 PM

@ Tally Team 2 advances. Think team 15 has some screen captures. If not, I'll post the scores later.

Trying to play EU teams. They couldn't all see the PREY server 2 out of 3. The EU server was running 300-400 ms in California. Ended up using the Z server. Think we all averaged about 200 ms to it, except MJ with sub 100 pings. Think I was the high at 246 ms? It was laggy an jumpy, but probably the most fair server we could come up with for game time.

Took the skillage out. No quick steals, unless head on.. And shooting a lot of air (we see them where they were , though!!).

The games were one sided, most likely because of the lag... Distance between our teams. Think it was as fair as we could make it in server choice.

Team 5 progress. Zach was a no show and has not answered any mails. I propose he is dropped from future 3 on 3 tournaments.

Game one results

Game two results

Final score: 29 - 12 to Team 5.

Team 12 put up a brave effort and fought well considering they were a man down, but fighting 2 on 3 is better than an automatic disqualification.

@ Tally & TankGirl

I feel your pain. I know lag has always been a spotty issue and recently I have really been on the snivel wagon about it. Sad to see it affecting so many now, I KNOW you just don't feel like you get a chance to play your best.
