@KBC / Baba: Never believe what it says on the packaging...

And as for the self-destructive team... You are going down. No free ticket for you to win even one game and save face by not coming last. You'll just have to hope Steel Corset don't pull off a win :)

Heh, I know its a bit late in the season for this, but hell, why not finish it with team skins ;) (cant believe no one else got round to doing this earlier on)

Of course, if the teams remain pretty much the same for the next season then they can be reused.

CereBros Locos
Killer Fleas
Destructive
Bandits
Black Sheep
Steel Corset

Ooooohhhh!
Aaahhhhhh!
Nice job -z-! Can't wait to try it out.
Thanks!! XD :)

Friday, July 30, 2004 at 4:59:11 PM

O nice!

Friday, July 30, 2004 at 5:19:33 PM

Very nice. Is there a way in which we can all download these skins and put them in our TT folder to view each others during a game? What I mean is the ability to view two distinctly skinned tank teams, not just the green or blue type used to differentiate the two. I've never even attempted modding so goof on me if you wish for this question.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Yes.. Though it would require a) a patch on the server copy of TT, and b) would involve a one time download either in-game or from here.

If those hosting PSL games are interested I'll try and sort out some code for you.

-z-, that would be BAD ASS!!! Dash and Reagent host's our games alot, hopefully they'll try em out with you.

Wicked. Now we're talkin'.

Does everyone in the PSL use a light tank? I'm pretty sure they do, but for the sake of keeping the coding simple and downloads to a minimum, I would initially only support light tanks unless there were some strange people riding other beasts in the Psycho league.

Will try and get something put together over the weekend. Would be awesome to actually test playing in team skins...

Friday, July 30, 2004 at 8:17:46 PM

Yeah we all use lights -- so let's do it for the season finale! XD

Dash is on linux... :P

OK, done. Email with instructions sent out to Dash and RX.

Important note though.. If these servers are running with the Team Skins mod, then anyone wishing to play will need to have the extra files installed for it (downloaded from here and available shortly once I have tested their servers) as it would take probably 4-6 hours to download the files within the game.

Z. Brilliant.

Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 10:24:05 PM

Hate to be a killjoy here, but.....

I'm a bit concerned about this for the last game of the season. There is a high probability that it will result in teams being a man down. Whoever didn't get the memo about the install, didn't get around to it, etc, will be locked up in the joining process for a very very long time.... Add to that installing it wrong, etc.. Just seems like many things could go wrong and result in uneven teams.

Good point 56k. No one tell the fleas!! :P

Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 11:21:35 PM

Good point KBC. Nobody tell the fleas, and can we get a server up quickly so Destructive has plenty of time to test?

Am just waiting for confirmation (or a test server) from Dash and ReagentX to see where this stands. As for everyone else, there is nothing to 'install' just extra dts's and skins.

Nah.. You missed that hugo. It was held discretely a few days ago while no one was looking.

Not sure what this would entail from the player end, but, keep in mind that, at least for this household , we move from one game/team to another team in seconds to make the Sheep --> CereBros switch of players.
Any fiddling of application innards would be too time consuming.
Perhaps having a second version of the app ready to go with proper skins loaded would work?

KBC: Damn looks like the paparazzi were on my tail again... Can't keep anything secret these days!

Baba: Well you could go to the hassle of installing a second copy, or just use the other team skins instead of your own if you dont have time to rename a couple of files between matches.

Ok, RX has installed everything without any hickups, and I believe Dash is installing it too. The setup for hosting is more complex than that for just playing on it.

The files you will need to play on the team-skins servers are located: here

Just extract the contents of the zip to your ThinkTanks/game/data/shapes/tanks/ folder.

You can then replace the skins for the green and blue tanks with custom ones for each team - you'll be able to tell which are which just by previewing those skins in a browser or whatever.
tank01.jpg is for the regular light tank for all games not using team-skins,
tankG1.jpg is for the Green Team's light tank
tankB1.jpg is for the Blue Team's light tank
tankB3.jpg is for the Blue Team's heavy tank etc etc.

Anyone has any problems or doesnt understand what to do.. Just ask.

Captains, please email your team about this and get them to install the additional skins.

RX will have a test server up (called something like TeamSkins Testing) with the usual Psycho League password so that people can jump in and see what its like after they have unzipped the file downloaded from the link above and also as a test to make sure they have the skins in the right place etc. If you havent, then you'll face a very long wait on the 'downloading mission data' screen - so just quit and make sure you have the files in the right place before trying again.

One thing that this will require however (if we want to use our own skins for the game) is that we predecide which teams are going to be green and which are going to be blue for the 3 matches. Then we can already have the right skins on the right files.

You sure we want to do this on the season finale?
The more hoops to jump through, the more chance of mess ups.
But I'm game if thats what folks want.

Sunday, August 01, 2004 at 7:44:36 AM

Hey In the next season I might get in with 'SA2/LA/EA2/SA/UF/NA blasters' (try skinning that one up -z-!!!)

Sunday, August 01, 2004 at 8:17:09 AM
-z-

Baba: Well I reckon its easier to do it at this point instead of trying it in game 1 of a new season where there are likely to be new players and no-shows. Fixed the link too - thanks for that

Sunday, August 01, 2004 at 8:41:18 AM

Hey -z-, since you made those team skinz, Why not next season keep the teams, but just draft new(or switch around)
team captains from the players.

Team Skin Test server is up. Added some team bots so you can see both teams.

EXAMPLE: After you follow -z-'s instructions then you need to customize it for your team game.

In my case I am a Sheep, and we play the Bandits. So lets say Sheep = Blue and Bandits = Green.

I download the Sheep and Bandit skins from -z- earlier post on team skins. Then I need to change -z-'s custom Sheep skin name to tankB1.jpg and replace that file in the game/data/shapes/tanks folder. And similarly I need to change the Bandit skin file to tankG1.jpg and replace that file as well.

That's it! You can go back to your normal playing without going back under the hood.

Here is a simple screenie from the test server:

Nice job. Should we have a team key so we all know what to rename each team skin as?
For instance;

Locos= A1
Sheep= B1
Fleas= C1

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Well.. We would just need to figure out which three teams were playing as green and which as blue.
