I considered adding game results/scores as well, but quite frankly I'm too lazy to dig up that info. :)

A) People will join in sets of 3. One team = 3 people. Thus, you will need to police yourselves. If someone you're considering for you team has sticky hours and you question their commitment / ability to play, you may want to consider not taking them on.
b) It will be up to the teams to host and organize their matches. Each round will proceed at one week intervals.
c) If you have a micro window of availability, consider not entering. Success of tournaments is contingent upon players' flexibility. In the event of a DNP, the team that has shown greater willingness and availability to play.
_____Rules Draft 0.1
1) 3-player teams are self-formed and then announced in the official thread. Post openings or interest in the official thread [when there is one], or form via in-game chat or email to ho.
2) Once the tourney commish has gathered a bracket-able number of announced full teams, a non-seeded single-elimination bracket will be randomly dealt. [I want a seeding process ]
3) The first round has a time-limit of 5 days. Each subsequent match round will have a time limit of one week. Set up a thread for your upcoming match so that each player on your team and your opponent's team can post available match times/days. You can do this by email, but the thread is better so that the commish can see who the delinquent team/player was in the case of a match not being played before the one-week deadline. The team that puts forth more of a flexible scheduling effort will move on to the next round.
4) Each match consists of 2 or more fifteen-minute games. Match scoring is in effect (win=2, tie=1, loss=0). As we have seen in PSL, splitting a two game match is quite common. Here, though, it would keep going until there is a winner. I would imagine this would result in a majority of matches resulting in 3 games. This can and did happen, so make sure your agreed-upon match start time leaves enough time for players to play at least three games. If you lose the first game of the match, the only way to prevent defeat is to win the second 15-minute game. *A tie will not do.*
5) If your team shows up to an agreed-upon match time with less than 3 players, you must play with the team you have at hand. Unless, for some graciously altruistic reason, your opponents decide to imitate doormats or have WAY too much time on their hands - or your no-show has an outstanding reason for no-showing - it can be rescheduled *within* the 1-week round window. If it cannot be rescheduled, the team that initially showed up at full strength will move on [see c above]
6) The two teams playing the match are responsible for setting up their own server (or talking a server God/dess into cranking one up for them). Mind the lag, folks -always opt for proven servers and keep in mind that remote or overseas players can call forth hordes of lag demons._____
the management
7) No switching sides.

@Triv: Here is how Match scoring works. Like it says up top: for each game you play you get 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. So lets say you win the first game and tie the second game you would have 3 points and your opponent would have 1 point. Another example: if you win the first game but lose the second game you would each have 2 points, and therefore would need to play a 3rd game.

So, a win and a tie is enough to advance next round?

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 9:34:06 AM

I like the modded maps. If this was an all stock terrain competition I would most likely drop out.
In my opinion the best plyers would be the best regardless if they were playing on stock terrains, the arena (which is totally flat9), or on modded terrains. The best will perform well under all conditions and need to excercise that on the modded maps.

Just my preference peppered with a little opinion.

Take the pin out of oninion and you have onion, just noticed that.

Cranky Morning Post Forthcoming.
You have been warned.
1. Read. Read. Read. Read. I don't care what other people say if it conflicts with what it says at the top. That is why there is a top.
2. Don't make stupid comments. I don't care about stupid comments. If someone else complains about the maps and posts some illogical nonsense like what Triv just did, I'll drop bombs.
3. Listen to Johnny, he don't f-around.
4. Kris, the monkey is on your back. Do not lie about not being contacted; it annoys me. You have 14 more hours. Good luck.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 9:57:15 AM

Stupid questions dosen't exist.

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 10:21:34 AM

Gah! To win you need 4 points. How much does a win and tie add up to?

I hear that Gnat is pissed and wants to team up with SmokenJ and Daisy Dukes... If GDF and FAT can't get it together...

Stupid questions do not exist. Stupid comments do.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 11:46:57 AM

4 points, PREY? Did that come from PSL8? According to the "up top" rules for this 3on3 tourney, a lead after 2 or more games determines a winner (for example, win the first game for 2 points and tie the second for another point to get a 3-1 victory after 2 games).

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 11:58:47 AM

This part is puzzling:

If you lose the first game of the match, the only way to prevent defeat is to win the second 15-minute game. *A tie will not do.*

Then 3 to 1 is a win, though it could be stated as such.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 1:20:28 PM

Possible realistic outcomes:

1 tie + 1 tie + 1 win = 4, a win
1 tie + 1 win = 3, a win
loss + win + tie + win = 5, a win

Where does it say you need 4 points?

Can I help any more Tally...
What?
...
loss + win + tie + win = 5, a win
...
lost + win+tie =3 , a win. Hah! Why go to 5... Meh!

@ Where does it say you need 4 points?

Win + win = 4

You play till you win...

So to win is 4 points, expo facto !

Umm, to translate Tally Speak. 3 points or greater is a win, unless it is a tie. Then it is sudden death.

I hear the Gnat is even more pissed...
: )

@PREY: I'm hoping you're joking...but I can't tell.

"loss + win + tie + win = 5, a win
...
lost + win+tie =3 , a win. Hah! Why go to 5... Meh!"

If you lost a game, then won a game, then tied the next game, each team would have 3 points. So how do you determine who wins? Play another one. Thus the 5 points. It's not all that confusing...

Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 12:26:45 PM

Is it too late for an old bastard to join in ?
I'm just recovering from a recent case of paternity... A new clone added to my brood. But I am now fit and ready to blast some new bastards. Please consider me as a replacement player if someone consistently flakes out.

Thanks,

Sorry ACA, there are no substitutions because there were problems with payola in the previous tourny.

Agg. Well, someone e-mail me when the next tourney starts up (sorry Pasiano... Got your e-mail late). I need to be reminded of such things as I'm not able to spend time scanning the threads these days due the recent addition of the little clone.
In anycase, I'll kick you all later on the servers.

I just can't resist (throws forth the bait).... I'm sorry I won't be around to CRUSH the Jang, Bolo-meister and Panky. Perhaps someother time ; )

Till then,

Jang has asked that I take his place in tonight's match. Someone drop me a PW so I can get on the server.

Thanks,

Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 6:47:04 PM

See rules above ACA: One team= 3 people ;)

Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 5:33:37 AM

People will join in sets of 3. One team = 3 people

If your team shows up to an agreed-upon match time with less than 3 players, you must play with the team you have at hand.

Those games should be forfeited by THE CHAMPS

No offence, we all have things that come up, But substitutions are not mentioned, having a substitute would equate to having a 4 man team.

I believe ACA is having the Threads mixed, no?
I see he played for Bolo's scrum team...Jangles didn't... Possibly Jang asked for him to take his place in PSL8 for a game...

Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 7:10:19 AM

Agggggg....
I don't know... Jang asked me to take his "place". Now I don't know whether it was for this or PSL8.

Jang.... Help clarify.....

This is kinda funny now.

Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 10:24:31 AM

Jeez ACA you'd just go and play with any ol' team without knowing the what, where, when of it all.
What kind of example are you proving to the lil' Clone you are raising?
:P

Monks Of Doooom triumph, despite playing the first two games with only 2 players. Awesome games to all the opposing team, incredible.

Not to take away from The Monks victory, but I got booted twice for substantial amounts of time.... KKB ;)

RNG vs WPF
RNG took 2 wins...see post in my thread for score details if you so desire.
I have first game screenie if you need to see it.

Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 8:59:15 PM

Is there another RNG? I don't see how we can play ourselves...unless there is a Bizarro RNG ;)
Oh, I see now...no, I think we can take FAT :P

My apologies to Sniper and KentuckyKillBlly. You are true competitors that deserved to advance to the next round. As soon as it was evident that Appleyard wasn't going to reappear for the MOD team I disengaged. I was ready to play a 3 on 3 game and I just wasn't mentally prepared to participate in a 3 on 2. I was caught with my pants down. Too bad, 3 on 3 would have been first rate games too. They were far from awesome for my liking.

Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 9:30:26 PM

Run and Gun took both games. First game was quite a hoot! Lots "O" action!

Supra was out of the second game for a couple of minutes tending to personal matters. Supra returned, but, When Pigs Fly could not make up the time lost.
Great games with great guys!
I had a blast!

Tally, I hear all this talk about FAT advancing to the next round, does that mean we are out, if so that is totally unfair, let us advance instead.

^ I thought u was gonna swear oh well

@Chong

Kristoffer/Spartan
Ok tally due to my descion to back out due to chongs tounge ins erevrs it has lad to the conclusion that I dont want to be in same team as him si gdf resign from tourny. *he constantly says I'll hack u im nt bothered and swears all the time more often recently*
Kris
Kristoffer/Spartan
Tally gdf is no more because of chongs swearing and threatining it seems only right not to be in the same team as him so fat pass to next round as gdf resign.
Kris

this was stated by your teammate a while back
Tally responded with this

Kris can u find a replacement?
( in other words, if you abandon your team, you will not be invited back to another tournament or psycho scrum. You are disappointing 5 other people. )
Tally Ho

No other response from your team to get it back together that I saw

Cho

It is back together we all want to play including Kris.
I got the server up and we're playing today so the game is going ahead,

Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 4:16:27 AM

Ok Tally we're playing The Champs next.
We will arrange a time between ourselves.

Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 7:47:00 AM
...

Scores were 15-8 in the first game and (as you can see) 18-2 in the second.

We gave it a shot, but we were just too slow. :(

It was a fun game though, and an interesting experiment. For future tournaments, it would be nice if the nature of the tournament could be mentioned in the sign-up thread so that battlemoders don't accidentally get themselves into scrum tournaments. XD

Maybe something along the lines of "WARNING: May Contain Scrum!!"

GG Goldfish.

Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 8:12:02 AM

@ Fat & GDF
Sorry guys you did that match for no reason ! Tally Ho all ready advanced Fat due to Team GDF screwing around ! So Fat is in and GDF is out ! Nice try but this is not a little kids game with redues ! You had your chance and blew it ! Also let me remind team GDF due to your actions you will not be allowed in future tournaments or in leagues ! Not to mention you had limited time to do this. B)

3) The first round has a time-limit of 5 days.

I'm not sure of the time frame but, it looks like the game was played. Personally I would show some flexibility and let Goldfish advance and play. If they continue to have there inter-team issues and can't smoothly put games together, then give em da boot!

I always try to be on the flexible side when possible. Remember there are 6 people to coordinate within several countries. As long as the league is not in waiting I suggest flexibility.

Just my opinion.
