Well after a superb time at the East Coast Convention I thought I would make a thread and see if we could arrange a convention here in good old blighty.

I just want to say that to play on a LAN server was just the best and something not to be overlooked, every time I checked my ping it was less than 20!!!! I was lovin that.........

Ooh, I've noticed I'm on the confirmed list... Oh well, you've convinced me! I'll sort out my computer problems and be there when and where it happens

Ok I am back from a few days dancing in fields

If we can get this running it works like this, players must bring their own computer and a network cable, I will supply the server switch and possibly one spare PC, which means all you have to do is arrive and plug in - woohoooooo

I am based in North London (near Enfield) so am happy to either take a few people or their equipment if that is any use.

This week I will be looking for a suitable venu around Birmingham so that I can work out the cost of running this convention. We need a room with A/C, good internet connection and of course must have a license as well

Keep spreading the word as we reallly need ideally 8 people to make this work.

Does it have to be a pub/hotel or suchlike? Could we not sort out a hall and have it b.y.o.b style... I know I could bring along some excellent* homebrew.

And why do we need the internet? Surely if it's lan games we wouldn't need it, or have I misunderstood?

@ Bloop - the reason we need internet is so we can invite a selected few for a few games then woop their butts %)

Hi all Dazz any prizes or dates in mind ? Big rain down here wheres the water shortage lol

How far away is this being planned for? 2 months? 3? 4? 6?

I was thinking, mebbe hire out a little place with no fancy bits and set up a load of LAN stuff and jettison the whole internet thing (sorry daz), with b.y.o.b and proper food... Just thinking of keeping overheads low, I know all us young 'ins would be liking to keep the costs from getting too astronomical - low paid jobs and fancy hotels don't mix so well... Or maybe that's just me ;)

P.s sorry if I'm meddling in your organising a wee bit

... What you all think?

Oh, and if TeamKiller decides to be a 'confirmed' I can meet him up with him to head down/pay half on fuel.

You still need the internet connection cause your server has to set-up with the master server. We tried only local in Toronto and it did not work.

Excuse my lack of computer literacy... But, uhh can you not use the ip join thing?

Put me on the possible attendees, need final confirmation from parents.. But normally that is ok!

Give a date & a place : I may will be able to join.
(but for PC : mine is too old to be transported : so just see you will be fun !!)

Fix it soon ! (or later : a date that I will be able ! )

Sorry Guys I have been a little busy of late so have not had much chance to find a suitable venu.

I have spoken to a few places and am waiting for reply's, but I will have another go at trying to find somewhere over the next few days.
