Ok, Ok, I will confess that I watch American Idol! It is a guilty pleasure that I know many of you share so don't call me a nancy-boy, ok? I've talked about this with many of you in chat. Don't worry, I won't throw any of you under the bus (ok, Bolo?). :)

Anyway, they cut the field down to the final 24 .
Great, more lists from Paisano! ;) Hey, I thought since my list of great scrummers went over so well why not share one about American Idol? (/ end sarcasm here).

In any event, my favorite performer is Kellie Pickler ! She is a 19-year old blomb bomshell who can actually sing! The only thing going against her is that she might be too similar to last year's winner, another hot blonde country girl, Carrie Underwood (I think Pickler is hotter and sings better too). Here's a picture of Kellie which doesn't do her justice. Her profile has a video clip.

The biggest threat to Pickler is a dude named Ace Young . He can wale and has the look they are searching for (Paula wants to tutor him, heh heh).

Personally, I think the best male singer is actually Taylor Hicks who looks like he's in his 40s because of his gray hair but he's only 29. He sounds and performs just like Ray Charles!!! It's uncanny! He actually has a CD out (self produced most likely). Here's a song he wrote himself called Hell of a Day . The song is at the bottom of that page along with two others.

The best female singer is a girl from my state of Georgia named Paris Bennett whose grandmother is Ann Nesby who was part of the legendary group called SOUNDS OF BLACKNESS. She might go far and could win but she doesn't have the whole package like Kellie. However, Fantasia overcame her appearance to win it all in AI 3. So did the large Rubin Stoddard in AI 2.

I cant believe they ousted mandissa....she had the best pipes. Wait..actually I can. She doesnt look as good as the other contestants (although id ahh...).

Its sad but true. Also I think most of the female voting population votes for their boy hear throb and do not vote for a girl whereas the guy votes are split. I must say kellie looked super hot that night...it definately gives her an advantage in the competition as well as in her whole life. I dislike dumb blonds as a rule so have my eye on katherine :) kelly should have shined in country week and she was mediocre at best. Now that mandisa is out my vote is on ace, chris, and katherine. All 3 different styles so I cant compare them.

Thx for bumping this thread. Thought it was dead. Now that they are down to the final 8 contestants, I think it will only get better.

I like Katherine best of all. Kellie too but her dumb blonde routine is tiring (she's not as stupid as she pretends to be from what I've read). Ace is up and down. Chris and Katherine should meet in finals.

Yes Ace and Elliot won't last long. Chris keeps being pig headed and sticking to hard rockers.
Needs to show some versatility like Bo Bice did last season. I like Katherine and Kellie best.
Taylor too.

I still like Paris to go all the way but just have to wonder , the last how many were female? Maybe the fix is in. XD Second choice is the rocker.

Sadly, my girl was cut.

Funny thing is, I've been following the show from afar, very afar, but last Wednesday night I ended up watching the show. Wouldn't you know it, she didn't make it. Personally, I think it was her song selection. I doubt people could identify her with Prince and I think she was struggling to really sell her selections.

However, I don't think this is the last of Paris. I'm sure we'll see her around again, maybe in a few years.

I cant believe they are keeping the old man and the ugly dude and axed chris. He was my favorite...i hope kathryn wins but I bet taylor will...

Kat really did well tonight. Aside from the fact that she is soooooooooooooo hot

Kat needs to feel the music and quit acting her way through a song. She has far too much attention stuck in her ego insteads of feeling the song. She barely hangs of half the time. The judges know it and that is why they have mostly been bagging on her for the past three weeks.

That said, I wish she would show off her legs... I'd vote for her.

True. As much as I like Kat (I picked her on April 10th on here), she does not always do her best.
She is not as polished at Kellie Clarkson was.

It uses some software that calculates the busy signals for each of the contestants and determines the winner from that!
It's been right 85% of the time. Here is the current prediction for tonight's elimination which will determine the final two performers. Don't go there if you want to be surprised.

Once again, in watching the final performance night between Kat and Taylor.... Kat couldn't create anything close to a sincere moment. She is always THINKING about her performance. She doesn't FEEL the music and she completely blew that lame song that she was saddled with in her finale. At least Taylor elevated his finale song (which was just as lame of a song) with his performance and sincerity.

I am not a Taylor fan, he is just a bar band front man and that is pretty much all he will ever be... But he has more sincerity in one of his grey hairs then Kat has in her whole body. Although... Kat has some screamin-long legs.

Chris should have walked away with this one. He was (without argument) the best vocalist.

Well, the soul patrol won. Taylor Hicks is the newest American Idol. While I was way off with my Kellie Pickler Pick when I started this thread on February 16th, I did say that Taylor was the best male performer and I have liked him all along. I just never thought his soul patrol schticht (sp?) would take him all the way! Wow... I liked Kat all along too but her performances were always hit or miss and never consistent like Kelly Clarkson was. It was frustrating.
Oh well... Glad it's all over! Takes way too long!!!

Now looking forward to the "So you think you can dance" series!!!! Hey, maybe we can start a new show called "So you think you can scrum"...;)
