People are entitled to their oppinions, so I don't complain that there are a lot of anti-Americans and anti bushies here. This is a thread dedicated to discussing, in a positive manner, the conservative elemants of the world . In other words, this is for talking about the world by conservatives. This is not an argument thread, so if you are a not a conservative, no need ot post

I think it is interesting how many confusions can be cleared up if people would take the time to look up a single definition, or realize that definitions are changing. Take republicans and democrats. The two parties ar shifting. The fact is, though, they are shifting towards eachother. The more people try to define people and ideas by these terms, the worse things get. Wouldn't it be nice, if people would just stick with conservative and liberal! Consetrvative is people dedicated to preserving, in every way, the 18th century aMerican viewpoints. Liberals being partially OK with this, but also very LIBERAL in changing things up. If we could stick to that, people would probably live longer!

I get enough politics at work, but I thought I'd drop an opinion here. I'll keep it friendly!

Somehow, the nation has gotten awfully divided during the war here. It seems that everyone is trying to fit any person they talk to in one of the 2 groups:

Group A: Pro-War, Pro-Bush, Republican, Pro-Patriot Act

Group B: Anti-War, Anti-Bush, Democrat, Anti-Patriot Act

Seriously, as soon as one disagrees with the Patriot Act, it is instantly assumed you are anti-war and want Bush impeached as well. After spending the last 1.5 years on active duty, I can tell you this:

Many people support the troops without supporting the war. They just want them to come home.

You can dislike the decisions made by your current President, yet still love your country.

The Patriot Act has nothing to do with patriotism. We National Guardsmen are sworn in to protect the Constitution. Apparently the Senate didn't do that.

So, I love my country. The President may represent it, but its the people that make it. I obviously support my troops. We know that something had to be done with Saddam. I just think it was foolish to act when the other countries refused. Trying to change the world without Diplomacy is a costly and dangerous gamble, and I've got guys under fire who just want to go home (haven't had to write any letters yet, thank God). The only thing I'm truly pissed off about is the Patriot Act. That bill was intended to make things easier for the government, and they used the public's fear of terrorism and the word "patriot" to get through the voting system. And not only did somebody not veto it, but they heralded it as a "good thing" for the safety of all Americans. Bite me, Big Brother.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kerry has his own bag of problems. I don't see a shining star in the upcoming elections, sadly. However, as a war veteran, Kerry may be nicer to the welfare of the troops. Bush, while deploying more U.S. Troops since World War II, has already drafted a cut in Veteran Benefits for the 2005 Budget. Ah, but he visits them in Iraq, so he supports the troops, right?

Sorry to be so long-winded. Look, no matter what President we support or vote for, I think it's safe to say that all the U.S. Guys here love our country and support our troops! See ya in the battlefield.

Don't lets decontextualize...threats: yes.....largely of our own making. Maybe if we weren't such bellicose a-holes we'd have more allies, and less enemies?
