If you were not on Team Global before, but are interested in joining, by all means, put your name into the hat! :) The schedule is listed above - if you can't be there for an event you're trying out for, please don't sign up for it.

Ideally I'd like to have as large a pool of players as possible for each event, so that we can field the best team possible.

Herc - since we haven't discussed this yet, let me know if you have any changes you'd like to make to the setup. Since I can't host a server, we'll need you to do that for any tryouts.

I was beginning to wonder about this myself...

Well, if no one responds, I guess I'm going to be a VERY active participant in this year's Olympics... I just wish I was good enough to stand toe-to-toe, by myself, against the likes of Bolo, Leopard, Tally Ho, and so on. It'll be even rougher in the team games by myself. :S

Doesn't look like anyone else is in Team Global/Pacific Rim. Too bad. Guess no one along the pacific coast plays anymore. :[

I mean, it's not like whoever joins us would have a hugely higher chance of being able to play in the Olympics since we're so short on team members or anything like that.

Ahh - I get around that by bookmarking the "Threads with unread comments" page. It gives me all the threads I haven't read yet from all the forums. I just skim them for the ones I'm interested in, and mark the whole thing done after I've read the important ones.

Yeah.. I employed a similar method when I found out about the important things on the other forums %). I had had my PTT bookmark set to the General forum, but I switched it to the Forum Index page. So now I have no excuse for not popping in here every once and a while.

I've seen the threads with unread comments page.. Maybe I should try that. I've recently "discovered" the Modding forum, too. Maybe even Tactics is worth a try every now and then.

Anyway.. Glad I'm on. I'm happy to participate in just about anything. I suppose I'm best at scrum, technically, but I like CTF best.. Since we only have 3 members (one of whom is from tennessee.. Not exactly Pacific Rim but I suppose it does fit Global) I'm certainly not going to opt out of anything as of now.

Just a quick skim of my very loose schedule (times in Pacific time)..

I'll be on vacation from August 7 to August 17, so Indy BM would be out, but you guys were doing that already. Once school starts on the 23rd of August (way too soon) I'll be around from 5pm to 11pm weekdays, 9am to ??pm/am on weekends.

Whew.. That's all. I suppose I should get some sleep.. It is 4am. And if I fall asleep at the computer, I might drool and short out the keyboard...

You've been added above. Don't worry about the Applicant status. What with the attendance problems our group has had, that's just to separate out those who haven't attended a practice yet. Show up once and you'll be moved onto the Team Members list.

I'd like to do Team Scrum.. If the tryout's not when I'm on vacation (8/7-8/17, or next week and a bit) that would be great. Any time.

Well, with the turnout we've got so far, I imagine everybody who's willing will be in the team games - we won't have enough people to pick and choose.

For those of you interested in participating in the Team games, I suggest we actually have some practices before the match so we can get used to each other, and give each other pointers.

Sigh.. My computer is dead to the world. Well obviously not this one.. But the one which actually works ok, the one which has TT on it, is dead. See my "Guess what? My computer's screwed" thread in general for more detail. Anyway.. I have no idea when I'll be able to play again, maybe tomorrow, maybe not for weeks. Here's my thoughts - The next match we need to prep for is Indy Scrum. Pretty much everyone is interested in that one, but we've only got 2 slots (plus 2 alternates).

Let's hold a tryout this Sunday at 3pm PST. We'll play 2 games of Indy Scrum back-to-back.

Then next Sunday we'll hold another tryout at 3pm PST and play another 2 games. We'll average the 4 scores and rank everybody that way. Would a penalty be appropriate for each missed game? I'm thinking -.5 off your average for each missed game. That way there's no incentive to skip the other games if you have an excellent first game. (I'm mildly paranoid - I think of things like this ;) )

Herc, can you host? Does this work for everyone? If not, say so NOW, so we can set up an alternative. Saying it doesn't work at 2:45pm this Sunday ain't gonna work. XD

Hey guyz my life is about 2 end as we now it I guess I will become extinct 4 awhile and u will find it very rare 2 c me playin now b/c we start back school the 10th and our middle school football jamborie is the 14th so I need 2 nkow the times of all the events b/c I'm on the football and basketball team so my life from now till the ned of feb will be very busy so I need 2 know all he dates and times b/c I will need 2 work around them or get subs so just emai lwhen u get the news by and hopfully I will get 2 play when I can cya and GO BIG RED!!!!! Okay, I couldn't find anybody. Let's try again for next week. If you cannot spot a server with the team name on it, go to HomeLAN and look for someone. This week won't count since no one showed up at all. We'll try and do double duty next week.

Again, this is tryouts for Indy Scrum, a game all of you wanted to play. Only two of us CAN play. If you want to play, you need to tryout. Period.

As the only person to show up for tryouts, CADC automatically gets the other berth. He beat the crap out of me too. XD

Here I was afraid I was going to have to pass on some tricks and tactics onto the other person, and it turns out I'm going to ask him for some. ;)

CADC - remember, 5pm your time, this Saturday. I'd like to get together an hour or so beforehand to warm up and practice, and maybe have you point out some areas of improvement for me.
