@ Tally - Since teams will not be dismantled, and it is likely players will not be leaving teams, I will take on the responsiblities of creating a new team. Naturally, we are apt to lose many matches due to the "old boys" club, but we will be vicious entrepreneurs, ready to fight the forces of grandfathered evil. Let me know if this will fly...

Proposed team name: Scrum Society

Or, if any of my new mates (whoever they may be) have suggestions, post em here!!!

Prof,
I would like to volunteer my services. And how about dash, nuts and haha. Not a bad team if I do say so myself.

Excellent get some...I was in the process of making an "available and reliable" list. Here is what I have so far....if I have left anyone out who is not on a team and is "available and reliable" please let me know....I did not mean to exclude you. This is just the people I am familiar with.

All of this is contingent on what the commish has to say on the subject....I hear he has a mighty hammer!

Get some
NUTS!
haha
TriggerHappy
FatLips
Hercules(?) - a "Black Sheep"?

What say you, Tallywacker?

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 2:12:06 PM

No dash? We gotta have a little dash...its my favorite seasoning!

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 3:06:56 PM

Dash is already on a team. He's a Crazy Brother.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 3:09:10 PM

Ah too bad. I will just have to have my scrum plain.

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 3:11:32 PM

If you sign up and can't make the time, a) there will be a knock on your door, and b) you won't be invited back.
also, the rules of psycho are pretty simple. The BIG RULE is that shenanigans will not be tolerated. If anything is done as ridiculous enough as to warrant complaint by an opposing ( or same team , for that matter ) captain, you will be booted.

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 3:19:15 PM

I understand Tally. Hasn't that been posted at least 2 other times? I hope you are just trying to keep PS fun and idiot free, and not trying to imply something about me or the Scrum Society. I realize TBM had some shenanigans, but I don't think any of my contingent crew (with the exception of FatLips) was a major part of, or instigated any of it. I am not trying to "blame" you FatLips...I just know many of the other BMers were upset at the whole ordeal.

In the end, it will be up to you all as to who you allow to play....please let me know if my/our presence is welcomed or shunned so I may proceed accordingly. Thank you.

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 3:48:08 PM

@ tally & my PSL 6 teammates: seems that I have been omitted from the team list for Destructive... However, it is most likely that I will take that as a sign & hang up my treads for this upcoming season. My unplayable lag issue has dissapated as of late, however I do not feel that I can commit to the league this season. When the days & times are more definite I may reevaluate my decision, but as it stands im out.

You are welcomed here my son!

BTW, this is just a sign-up thread, not a create-your-own-team thread, as I imagine there will be a draft later on.

Prof:
What are you taking that personally for? I'm reposting it to be sure that noobs see it.
People: When signing up, you are entering the draft. No guarantees you will be picked, and for sure, there is no create-a-team feature.

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 5:53:06 PM

Tally -

You are going to have to explain something to the dimwitted (myself). On page 1, you say "the teams will not be dismantled." Then you say there is going to be a draft. The two seem contradictory - why would you have a draft, if the existing teams are not going to change? This makes entirely no sense.

My next logical thought was, "Well, if the teams aren't going to be dismantled, I will volunteer to captain the new team (wouldn't there have to be a new team for the new players if the old teams are not dismantling) as someone will have to captain it."

So, the only reason the "create a team" feature even started was the perceived double talk: teams won't be dismantled, but we're having a draft...wtf? Is the draft just to shore up teams with more reserves? If that is the case, I will opt out of the league, as I certainly don't want to ride the pine for several weeks. Could you please clarify for me? Apparently my master's degree and professional credentials did nothing for my intelligence. Thank you.

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 7:11:42 PM

Prof the draft it seems will be for new teams and existing teams that need to fill their rosters. Relax smoochy poo, nothing was directed towards you or any of the new players. This is the exact same thing we planned on doing in the TBM league. Tally won't know how many new teams are needed until he gets a head count. I'd imagine the draft will go as follows: Any new team(s) will draft until they have enough players to match any existing team that needs players. Then the new team(s) and existing teams low on players will take turns until their respective rosters are full.

Just some thoughts. I may be wrong. I like that he's stressing, "Don't join if you don't plan on showing up." Hopefully now we'll be able to avoid the couple of 4 vs. 3 games we had last season.

Good diplomacy rogue! Prof..if a new team is made and you are captain please draft me. Lol. I will now temper my excitement so as not to become meddlesome...hey that would be a good new name. Hmm...

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 8:17:13 PM

Thank you for the clarification...that is all I really wanted.

@Tally...sorry for the chaos I created...just trying to be proactive. It simply appeared directed at me due to the bold type, and the fact it had been iterated several times before.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Tally, with the increasing interest and the growing number of ThinkTankers why can there be no exansion teams?! I don't care if I'm on a new team while you guys keep your fleas and sheep together. I just want in on this thing. I wanna play damnit!

Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 10:46:15 PM

Cant play dang school

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

Rooks:

U sat yourself out my man. I just assumed u didnt wanna play. If u still want in there is always a spot for ya

@all:

The draft is a bad idea if we are gonna keep existing teams. Whats the point??? I dont wanna replay psycho 6 again....its bad enough we are using the same maps shouldnt the teams at least be different? Doesnt anyone like VARIETY?? Sh*t all the dedicated players are already on a team. L gotta take a chance on unknown players from a draft pool AGAIN?? Mb 1 or 2 would be fine but not an entire team full.

Im all for everyone going into this fresh. Let the captains draw from a pool of all players.

There is no way a the teams will be even WHATSOEVER unless all teams are picked fresh.

I dont like where this is going so far.

If I HAVE to keep my team then I need replacements for chocoholic and rooks. I think the rest are in.

You dont want draft, and you dont want new teams. You dont want old players, and you dont want new ones.
tell us what you want, and not what you dont want. That would be more helpful.

Friday, August 13, 2004 at 4:22:22 AM

I like New teams and New Captains. Captains are picked, then they choose who is going to be on thier team. Just a suggestion.

JJ

The present format seems to be the least confusing, keeping the teams and drafting players in.

However, many know each other here and a realignment of players might be an idea.

If a "grandfathered" player wanted to become a "free agent"?

Just a thought, not a plan...

I think the draft worked well for last season.
It went down as ROGUE described above.
Three teams had totally reformulated ingredients:
Destructive,
Bandits,
CereBros Locos.

Of the 3 two were in the race till the last match.

For the third....openings still available for the Baabaa Seminars Inc.
:)

Friday, August 13, 2004 at 3:29:16 PM

Thx b.

Friday, August 13, 2004 at 6:11:25 PM

@ baba

Those teams were reassembled due to the captains not participating in the "baba" lecture. I must have fell asleep at last season's lecture. Can I get in next wed? (lol)

***My point is the 3 fresh teams had the most attendence problems compared to the teams from the prior season (except corset...COUGH TG, ben COUGH)

@ ho

Im sorry to have confused ya...:)

BOLO's proposition:

If tally wishes to stay as commissioner AND all the captains wanna keep being captains then:

1. Let the winning team (killer fleas) from the prior season keep their team since they are the ones to beat.

1A. Fleas should replace vashstampede's deadbeat ass with somebody else in the draft AFTER the other teams have their 5 players. The first team to choose a 6th player is the killer fleas.

2. The rest of the captains draft from the pool of all the other players. (learning to play with new teammates is a HUGE skill and should not be overlooked)

3. IF the number of teams needs to change so that all the teams can play each other an equal amount of times then:

3b. Tally fro assigns one or more captains and they will also participate in the draft

4. If the number of matches exceeds the 12 maps then MODS will be used

5. The top two teams compete for the crown on a MOD that neither has ever played.

What u think?

I like your train of thought there Bolo ! B)

Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 12:20:48 AM

5 is no good.
4 is questionable.
the rest is how it has gone before.

Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 2:42:19 PM

4. If the number of matches exceeds the 12 maps then MODS will be used

eer, not so sure about this

5. The top two teams compete for the crown on a MOD that neither has ever played.

bad one

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 3:03:07 PM

Well, I sort of agree about the draft. With the exception of RX (AKA Bench Warmer), the Black Sheep were great, but I understand the need to mix it up a bit. I suppose that you don't want to keep having the same teams over and over again.

Also, to stop the complaining, what are the chances of creating/implementing a "No Freebiee Script?" I.e "Scrum spawns minimum of XXX Distance from the goal?" This would stop alot of the cheapies, and prevent more complaining...

And, one more crazy idea :)

What about adding 2 more teams, bringing it to 8 teams total. Then we separate into 2 divisions (conferences). You play everyone in the league once, the teams in your division twice, for a total of 10 games.

In the end, we have a championship match, (3 games) with the winner of both divisions facing off. This would, of course, lead to hi drama at the end of the season.

EDIT: Holy crap, I just read Rogue had sort of the same idea for a 2 division league. (Though his math was off a bit :) ). That's 2 in favor...anyone else? (And please don't pull the "This is for captains to decide, not for the rest of you schtick")

Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 3:50:27 PM
Dar

The Locos were just getting strong we want to stay together.
You cant break up our teams unless the captains want to break up.

Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 3:58:26 PM

Can tally post the current draft pool roster?

Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 4:42:50 PM

What reshuffle? Captains decide for their own team only. All teams decide for their selves.

How bout this:

To keep everyone happy: teams stay together if the captain wishes and the lost souls will be filled from the draft. No mods, but use team skins and sluggy's gayman script.

On ANOTHER NIGHT mb have another league where mods are allowed, all teams are drafted, and no gayman's script. That way everyone will be happy..

Why is repetition a necessary part of learning? If you and I agree on something? Does it matter who says "I agree?" Is that, like, a sign of weakness or something? Does that mean you are less of a man?
I'll try and put a list together at the top of those who want in.
