This autographed and framed Convention jersey will be worth millions some day!

The movers and shakers of cartoon video games who rocked the world!

Exclusive: Hear the Sounds of the Convention!!
--------------------

Yes you heard right! A West Coast ThinkTanks Convention will be held this summer in the Bay Area.

This is guaranteed to be the

BIGGEST AND BADDEST TT EVENT OF ALL TIME!

A sneak peek at the room we reserved! "Just add some computers, some TTers and stir!"

Date: Sunday July 9, 2006
Location: Oakland, CA
More info: Convention Registration Page and Details
Cost: $25 per person
Organizing Committee: Reagent X, Magenta, LC50, Tally Ho, Baba & MajorPain

This is an opportunity to not only meet your fellow TTers, but an extremely rare opportunity to play ThinkTanks on a Local Area Network (translation: NO LAG) in the same room with some of the finest players in the world!

Plus some exclusive extras including a commemorative Tank Skin designed especially for this event by Dr. Sawbones, and prizes from Bravetree to be given away at the Convention!

Can you imagine hearing your opponents tank exploding right next to you after you nail them with an area effect? Or better yet, can you imagine shouting "DIE YOU BASTARD!" directly to your opponent in person? No need to type chat messages when you can just HOLLAR!

There will be a pre-Convention Ho-Down on Saturday night. We have reserved a HUGE conference room (1550 square feet) with many tables. The room has high-speed internet access. At 10 am on Sunday morning, we begin set-up. We will set up 3 LANs. Idealy, each will have a dedicated computer to be used as a server. Ethernet swithes will be set up to accommodate 10 players per server.

Participants must bring their own computer with a registered copy of TT. You will also need a 10' ethernet cable, and an external mouse (and keyboard probably too if you want to preserve you laptop keys from getting mashed)). Non-participants are welcome to come also.

Continental breakfast and a simple lunch buffet will be provided. We have reserved a block of rooms available at the Convention Hotel for a negotiated rate of $99 for as king or double room.

For security purposes we have implemented a special registration procedure. When you register you will be invited to join a secure website where you will have access to the exact location of the Convention as well as other useful details.

We hope you can come join us! Woooot!

Excellent and productive planning session!

We discussed Finances, equipment, T-shirts, tourney prizes, and Saturday evening activities (complete with MicroBrew). We have enough from reg fees and donations to cover the cost of the room and some of the food. Be prepared to bring about $10 extra for lunch, and $15 - $20 for a wicked cool T-shirt. Delta and Dr. Sawbones have come up with a KILLER must-have design. Here is a preview:

Also we will need power strip or just simple extension cords.

Be sure to read the recommended stuff to bring on the registration web page.

This is going to ROCK!

Probably should email the list of 19 lucky unconventional conventionists... Not everyone is keeping up with the forums now that summer is here. Some of the 19 are AWOL.

Reminders to add to said email:

- keeping secret the secure, undisclosed nature of the convention location

- the vague schedule... Setup @ 9AM, play soon afterwards, feed at noon (all-u-can eat American cheese!), unplug machines, pack up gear, exchange tearful man-hugs of boundless joy, depart the secure, undisclosed lopcation, endure derision and repeated shaming by non-TT friends and loved ones...

- the need to get Delta a preferred t-shirt size very soon if interested (many thanks to Delta!)

-extension cords, powerstrips

Forgot to mention this last night: Is someone going to print name badges and get the nifty plastic holders? I don't mind chipping in $5 if someone with a good color printer can print us up snazzy badges. Badges.... We need some stinking badges!

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 7:55:42 AM

I'll bring the badges.

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 8:42:00 PM

As much as I am excited about meeting up with people on the Eastcoast, I am also excited about being able to play a group of Westerners all at once with possible webcam to see their reactions when they lose against the mighty Eastern forces. %)

That's right! Eastcoast is gonna open a can of whoop@$$ on your tiny tanks XD

*runs back to his bombshelter to prepare for another volley of trashtalk* B)

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 9:22:06 PM

Hey Feathers, who can I talk to about coordinating West/East play on the day of the convention?

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 9:32:13 PM

I'd say Belikin... Since he seems to have been the good joe to coordinate most of the Eastcoast Conv. So far. ;)

If not, then possibly Lonewolf or Rabban.

Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 11:25:55 AM

@ All T-shirts are ordered. I will have final ETA by Monday. I have ordered extras. T-34 might be forced by me to bring them to you guys in his suitcase so be nice to him. I will send you an email RX with details.

I want a group picture of all of you wearing a T-shirt and giving the salute that you usaully reserve to HUGO BRAINZ. %)

Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 3:44:44 PM

Looking for air tix... Darn it the trip would cost me about $1000 - $1200 for 2 niters. Pane is $700 minimum. Plus the lost wages.
Will look some more.

I live in Victoria BC and going to Oakland. If someone find me a cheap flight, he'll (she'll) get a good post and my soon-to-come PTT government.

Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 8:41:52 PM

We need you HB!! Sluggy said to tell you that he can get cheap flights from where he is, if you can make it down there somehow.

WARNING: Mac users do not upgrade to OS 10.4.7 (update was released by Apple today). It seems incompatible with TT for some of us so far. See this thread .

Hugo... Sorry to hear the price is so steep and we'll understand if you can't make it.

However, you'll kick yourself for not being there and you'll be sorely missed by all of us workers of the world who would gladly unite behind you. This might be your only chance to start the revolution and save the US from itself. It's worth the stretch!

Hugo, try southwest out of Seattle (SeaTac). You could take the ferry there, or catch a shuttle in Bellingham/Anacortes if needed.

@all- ^^ has great advice there. I tried updating my iBook to 10.4.7 to see if it would work. Thinktanks is not working at all on that computer now. Do NOT run that update if you plan on using TT.

Ok my 5 last posts are replete with typos. Is it age? Laziness? Distraction?
Anyway thanks for the results LGM! When the revolution starts you'll be the Deputy in charge of Space Exploration! we'll put you in a spoutnik and launch you, one-way ticket, to the confine of the universe!

That fit your budget, Hugo?

Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 6:34:20 PM

Do we have a final head count? ACA can't make it and Pharma hasn't been seen in months and hasn't responded to emails from Magenta or I. Hugo seems to be on the fence.

Is everyone else accounted for?

Yes, Woot. Indeed!

Sunday, July 02, 2006 at 6:16:42 PM

I'll bring the badges.

Badges?! Badges??!! We don't need no stinkin' badges!!!!

Well, unless you want them....

A lifetime of special nutrients awaits!!!
Either by land

Or by air:

We expect to see you there!

Wooooooot!!!! Just a few days away!!!

Monday, July 03, 2006 at 1:33:52 PM

^ Hopefully I'll travel in a more comfortable fashion!

OK I found semi-quarter-reasonable airfare from Victoria BC to San-Francisco.
I understand we meet in Oakland. How do I get from SF to Oakland? In other words, anyone can relay my flag from point A to point B? I can also take a shuttle from SF Airport to SF Downtown and catrch a ride.

Planning for Saturday afternoon. When is the gang meeting? Where?

Hmm very not sure. It's irrational to go, that's why it's tempting.

Monday, July 03, 2006 at 3:22:13 PM

Darn. They'll charge a fortune for my hibachi. maybe I can bring it in my carry-on bag?

Monday, July 03, 2006 at 3:25:21 PM

Hugo, check your email for the Saturday night and Sunday meeting location (please don't post or discuss... We are tyring to avoid shenanigans). Rx has emailed all the juicy details.

You can take BART from San Fran over to Oakland assembly locations. There will also be folks with vehicles around should you bring the hibachi.

Monday, July 03, 2006 at 4:32:55 PM

Hugo we need you! No matter what it takes! Baaaaaa! E-mail me if you need anything.

^ looks like a heavy. Can you get Hugo a light?

Sweet, though. I hear the whole floor of this thing is like a giant mattress.
(Wait a second... Inflatable toys, room size mattresses... What kind of hotel did you guys book into!?? No wonder it's a secret location...)

Wish I could have made the convention. Hope you guys all have a blast.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 at 9:48:39 AM

^^ Ideal camping tank! Lol! I'm not a good camper, but some other players sure can use this!

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 at 11:52:58 AM

Are we gonna split the conference room between Republicans, Democrats, and Canadians? :o

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 at 1:33:53 PM

Hugo, this isn't a time for splitting, it's a time to come together and celebrate what we have in common. Smile on your brother, try to love one another, peace, etc. It will be like Woodstock, only with clothes, no women, and lots of cables everywhere.

Actually, I have more fear about fights breaking out between the Mac-heads and the PCers.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 at 3:01:54 PM

Woodstock with clothes and no women? Omg is this a geek convention? yes it is
