I've been thinking about this for some time. While some of the miracles in the Bible really seem like miracles with no natural explaination, others may seem to be more "natural" while the author describing the event knew God was behind it.

For example, we're pretty familar with the judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah and the fire from heaven, but I've heard that it was the result of a volcano opening up in the Dead Sea area. So on the one hand, the event was from God since it came when he wanted it to come, but it was achieved through natural processes.

Last night I was looking up at the moon, which had a red tint to it. I've often thought about that sort of moon in reference to the following verse.

When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, Rev. 6:12 ESV

What if instead of the sun and moon just being changed outright by God, that the two are darkened by a change in the atmosphere or pollution or smoke or whatever? Perhaps the earthquake releases a bunch of volcanic ash into the sky. On the one hand, it just seems like a natural result of man's stupidity in messing with the environment or a terrible natural disaster. On the other, it's part of the judgement of God that was foretold around 2000 years ago.

So it still comes down to the viewers perception and how they relate to the world, whether things come from God or they just happen.

How do we prove any event that happened during antiquity?

I guess you just gotta have blind faith eh?

@Rabban: Heh, Bolo's comment to have God strike him down was said in jest. He is just as bad as you about forgetting the smilies! He immediately followed with:

WAIT. Im stilll here....everyones ok.....ohhhhhh...little crick in my neck....hmmmm......wait...theres advil...

He just doesn't think a compassionate God would allow mass catastrophe's to innocent people. It is common question.

Anyhow, great post on technology and the revelations interpretation! I figured the hailstones was a truly nasty meteor shower (like Armageddon). Then interesting one is where the sores appear only on those with the mark of the beast. I can't visualize that one, yet. The closest explanation I could come up with is all the viruses endured by the Microsoft Windows population! XD

JB - I know Bolo's kidding around, but there is a problem with that sort of request as well. Kinda like Homer's prayer. "Oh God, if it is your will that I eat this donut, give me no sign." <nothing happens> "Thy will be done." <devours donut> Besides, Bolo's request may just be a little farther down on the waiting list than he anticipated. ;)

I guess the sores on those with the mark is like the 1st born dying in Egypt. God makes the distinction.

@TG - I...you...gotta...open...nevermind. :(
