Hey fellas
The router I could bring is a turbo boost 108mb wireless
and I host my ScruMODS on it wirelessly without incident
I feel if there are no restrictions on the use of wireless either by
you or the hotel then I could let LW use my lappy full time and
we could serve a few more machines
Just a thought?
If not I will bring the trusty Linky and leave my desktop at home

Nobody invited ho right?

There's about 30% of chance I'll make it :S
I work full-time from April to September then I have 6 months of slackness - so to go at this time of the year takes away on my income :(

Bumpity
I'd sure like to come... But I'm only 12 and live in New Jersey, and I don't think there's any chance of my parents taking me there... :(
I use multi-billion dollar military satellites to find tupperware hidden in the woods... What do YOU do?
PS-- I might be able to do it whenever the next TT convention is, I talked with my parents and they said the only reason I can't do it this time, is because I just got out of the hospital, which you can read about in my thread in "General". They actually said that I'll b able to go to the next one if it's in Chicago again! Woot! :) (if the next TT convention's in chicago, and I come, some of u might b surprised... I am quite young) XD.

Niko, your parents are mean and should be reported to the proper authorities. When I was your age, my parents would drive me to the TT conventions each year --in whatever city is was being held in.
^^^ lol bolo
Oh..... Well, next year I can come :)

Evening,
I so much like tt that I am making every effort to be in chicago. Unfortunately, I am a multistore business owner (not bragging) and must plan accordingly. I would love to help with expenses. Rx - even if I don't attend. Let me know how I can help sponsor breakfast and/ or lunch. I have really grown to enjoy the community of tt. Many of you make me feel welcome whenever I play with you guys. And that means a lot to me. My email: csolis@msn.com Ggs addict. And proud of it. My wife hates it. Yeah!!!!!!!!!
Moderators Comments: If you need to reach him by phone you can email him for it !
@ dingo
I did that for your sake.
Trust me some of these people,
you don't want to have that number ! You know who

Wooot dingo!

I have arranged to borrow a 24 port switch with 2 gigabit ports. My towers both have gigabit ethernet so we'll have a good setup for testing performance variables.
Hola!
Me live out in Dekalb, IL... A far-west suburb of chi-town. Me don't plan to lug my iMac around Chicago so me can't attend. (Wish I had a portable.. Dern it) 8o
Have fun while you're in the area! You got to check out the ferris wheel at Navy Pier. Me go on & me just smoke a cigarrette and enjoy the scenery, right? That not the case. It go up REAL HIGH! Me held onto bars of cage all sweaty praying for it to end. It go up real high! (there's also beer at the Navy Pier and food and bands playing check it out)
Have fun! :)
@BCD
Aww, me was hoping to body slam you down the stairs. ;)
Bertha: MB someone can bring you a laptop? Or you could alternate with one of us...
B
Alright, I'm in!! I hope to be in time for your ho-down Norky, but we'll have to see what comes of my air travel or driving arrangements. Anyone got space on a private jet departing from Boston MA to Hartford CT area : ) (those were big cow eyes).
As for equipment, I'll be bringing a laptop, an ethernet cable and possibly one of those Links things. Anything else?
I'm psyched to be a TT geek. I think this is going to be really good.

I have decided to leave TT.
I highly doubt I will be attending the convention as I am moving on.
Thanks!
Nap
Just checked Southwestern Airlines and I could actually afford a flight! So I might be in on this after all. XD
So, about the reserved rooms. Is that $89/room or person and who wants to shack up???
Where are your hands?
Between two fluffy pillows. Why?

No fellas, I have decided to move on. Just not really enjoying the game much anymore.
I wish you all well. Thanks for the experiences. It has been a pleasure! Truely has.
And I'm not starting one of those sad "I'm leaving TT threads"
Take care,
Nappy

@ Rabban
When do you plan to get there ? I have yet to book a room ! You just make sure you stay on your side of bed ! :P
Nappy!? How can you just leave like that? Don't you know it's practically a requirement to make it a long drawn out arduous procedure to leave TT, complete with false starts, temporary returns and the like? Heh.
Seriously though, what about all that time invested in modding? Are you just gonna let that all go to waste?
Well, if you do just up and leave, take care of yourself, eh?
Another one bites the dust.
OM, Na, it wasnt' a waste. I had a lot of fun learing the program and getting intimate with the mission files. (Kind of sad when stated like that lol)
I had a lot of fun with those who did install the expansion pack. I also had the oppertunity to successfully troubleshoot some other modders mission files. That was pretty fun!
Nuts, Dash, Lone, Ozzy, KBC, Nevaeh, and I all messed around and had some fun. I was however suprised, it didn't catch on a little more. Oh well. We'll see what the future holds. But for now I have to take a step back. Actually several steps.
I suprised a lot of folks in BM when I was there. I think I suprised many when I moved to scrum and did pretty good. I think I suprised many when I said I was going to mod and with the Mods I came up with.
Don't be suprised, if I suprise you again.
That could be by returning as the community states we all do.
or,
by never returing, and going against the grain.
Time will tell. What do you think?

@ Napalm.
Take a step back from the computer chair, maybe two. Take a deep breath. Maybe go out and see the sun (whew, no, skip that one). Then sloowly go back to the chair and pretend it's a new game that you've never seen before. That'll do it.
Don't be suprised, if I suprise you again.
I hope there was room left, I just registered.
Will be there, will pay in person... Have issue with internet and credit cards lately id theft anywho will be providing hardware, transport ( if needed ) and will pay up when get there..
Looking forward to fun

!!! THINKTANKS CONVENTION !!!
UPDATE: Registration page is complete! Click here!
Date: Sunday, June 5, 2005
Time: 10 am - 8 pm
City: Chicago, IL
Location: Holiday Inn 4th floor conference room.
Cost/person: $25 (includes cost of meeting room and lunch)
LAN capacity: 16
Maximum # of Attendees: 20
Registration Deadline: 4/30/05
Convention Pre-Party: Hosted by Norky!! More info here .
Yes you heard right! A ThinkTanks Convention will be held this summer in the Chicago area. Mark your calendars!
This is an opportunity to not only meet some fellow TTers, but an extremely rare opportunity to play ThinkTanks on a Local Area Network (translation: NO LAG) in the same room with some of the finest players in the world.
Can you imagine hearing your opponents tank exploding right next to you after you nail them with an area effect? Or better yet, can you imagine shouting "die you bastard!" directly to your opponent in person?
Our idea is this. We show up on Saturday evening or Sunday early morning. I have reserved a conference room with a central table and 17 chairs around it (boardroom style). The room has high-speed internet access. At 10 am on Sunday morning, we begin set-up. We will set up one or two LANs (depending on turnout), each with a dedicated computer to be used as a server. Ethernet hubs/routers will also be set up to accommodate 10 players per server.
Participants must bring their own laptop computer with a registered copy of TT. You will also need a 10' ethernet cable, and an external mouse (and keyboard probably too). You should also be sure to have the latest TT_Mod_Pack® installed and the MM_Observer script. Non-participants are welcome to come also.
Continental breakfast and a simple lunch buffet will be provided. I have also reserved a block of 10 rooms. For now they are King bed rooms for $89. To get this rate just tell them you are with the "ThinkTanks Convention" (yes - for real!). I will see if I can get a better rate on rooms with Queen beds.
Leopard and Chief have generously volunteered to provide servers and routers/hubs. Napalm will help coordinate software configurations. We will need a couple of more volunteers to coordinate some pleasing refreshments!
Wooooot! XD
EDIT: Hotel security is very tight and everyone who wants to just "show up" needs to actually register before the deadline (which will be around the end of April). The hotel contract is very specific and they take this very serioulsy. Registering adds your name to the attendee list which I need to submit well beforehand. Thx!
