Things have been a little hard around here with -z- being gone. He was not only the creator and maintainer of PTT, but in some ways he was it's benevolent father who watched over it with a tender hand. That hand is now absent, for reasons unknown, and it's absence is felt.

PTT has always been a community affair, BraveTree had no hand in it's creation, -z- took on the task of creating it because there was no one who could. I would like to keep PTT running in -z-'s absence but I am also a full time game developer and do not have tons of time to maintain communities. I do however have fond memories of battlemodeing for hours and hours on end, dueling with other tankers online. Because of this I will continue to fund this site, even if the donations do not, as long as there is a community that wants it there will be a PTT.

But the grumblings have merit, the community lacks leadership. Those with the power now are not able to administer it. This is with I turn to you, citizens of PTT, I need help in selecting a few good men (or women) to help guide the growth of this community in positive directions. I haven't been around enough to know who would be a good fit for the job, so I am turning to you.

If you care about PTT and believe in it's potential, post in this thread nominating (up to) 5 people you think would be good for the job. Please, do not nominate yourself. I want to know people who have gained your respect, if you have gained the respect of others then it will be recognized in the posts of others. Keep in mind that these people that you nominate may not be the best TT players, but people who are visible and recognizable in the community and who you would trust to close threads, block spammers, and moderate posts fairly.

And in the interests of keeping this thread productive, please limit posts to the task of moderator nomination. Thanks.

I realize that everyone wants to have thier say in the nomination process and well, I guess they should. Just keep in mind that Dan asked for and I quote

This should be a nomination of people who always keep a cool head and never take anything personally. The moderations should be for what is best for the community and not centered around personal likes/dislikes. The person also needs to be highly available.

Hope this works out, the cleanup may be refreshing to the community...

I have to agree with many posts here, including napalm's above. No offense to some of the younger members of the community, but I feel moderators should be adults. Preferably one's who are not associated with clans or armies (though not a requirement). Again, no offense to anyone who is in one, but it may be best to get the most neutral people, players who are generally liked by everyone, and who don't have any enemies.

Some of the suggestions so far are good, such as dash, Reagent X, Tally Ho, KBC, etc. I second those nominations, provided they feel they are up to the job, time-wise.

Lastly, thank you Dan MacDonald for stepping up and taking charge of a deteriorating situation. It's definitely time for something to be one about it. Also, once new moderators are selected, and some of the clean up process begins, I will start making donations again to help out with running the site. There's no reason you should have to foot the bill by yourself. I hope others will follow suit in contributing whatever little bit they can.

Just let us know if we should continue to use the Paypal method -z- had set up, or if there's another way we should get you the money.

RWS and BL, you bring up a good point. It's not a question of who's the most popular... The question is "who's the most qualified?"

@Dan Mac , This vote for a new moderator has turned into a "Popularity Contest". I can see a lot of potencial problems that this may cause. I think you need to determine who's qualified for the job first, then put it to a vote.

For example, RWS has the experience and know how... But he's not getting any votes because he's not "as" popular as some of the others. Bimp Lizket and Blackfoot have the technology, but they're not getting any votes for the same reason.

I think you should interview potencial candidates first, then let us choose among those who are qualified. I mean, why give moderator abilities to someone who isn't even interested in being a moderator, or doesn't really know how to do it?

DEEJ makes a good point. It would almost be better that the person is removed from the scene so the moderation can be uninfluenced.

While I agree with your post, I'd say that these people could easily make themselves more popular by posting more; it's their faults for staying in the shadows too long.

Sorry about the delayed post, I chose a number of mod's yesterday. I'm not so absent that I'm totally clueless as to which are legitimate picks and which are not ;) I will be composing an email today and sending out offers to the various potential mods. I would like to make this point though, these mods are not "elected" mods and as such they are accountable to me, not to the people that "voted" for them. The decisions the mod's make will be final, not open to debating or overturning by popular demand. The other administrators and I will keep an eye on activities to make sure the mods are making their best efforts to act in a fair and partial manner. However their primary goal will be to preserve the quality of the forums by keeping spamming and flaming to a minimum.

I just read RWS's comment, I had no intention of having this be an election. The fact of the matter is while the majority is always popular it isn't always right. I did however want to get a general for which individuals the community as a whole thought were appropriate. Consider it a round of primaries, or a request for nominations as opposed to an actual election.

Sorry it took so long, now please allow me to explain myself. Mr Bigshoe has hated me from Day 1, and started a number of rumours about me. I have screenshots of them. Only one caught on, the one about me being a boy, even worse, my brother. I must honestly say that being as I don't have a scanner, I cannot prove I exist by taking a picture, but I can post a screenshot of Bigshoe himself saying that he has seen me in real life. I am tired of explaining myself multiple times for this fool, and will now link to this thread for any other people that demand an explanation.

Just a quick suggestion....having the mods expectations generally outlined may proove to be useful for all to see. Then the question of objectivity would be less of an issue. If we know what to expect then it will be easier to dismiss any ridiculous arguments or unfounded criticsm. Just my 2 cents....

Also, thx to dan macdonald for stepping up and offering this potential solution. Its unfortunate that he has to be bothered by something that seems a bit petty...but this is the situation we find ourselves in. So thank you dan.

These are the ONLY TTers I have seen remain 100% dirt free. Most everyone else I have reasons not to trust 100%, or say 75%.
