Alright folks... Here it is!

This is a "High Score" club, similar to LC₅₀ 's 40 + Club for Battlemoders. The idea is to obtain a score of at least 25 in individual scrum against 6 gold brain light bots (set on expert)!

RULES

Hop into Blind Cides "SCRUM TEST TRY 4 25 "! If you break 25, take a screeny and post it here! No Final Score Screenies! Must be an in game screeny! Try to get at least one or two of the bots in your screeny, if you can.

Exceptions can be made, but only by the majority vote of existing members.

You can cheat your way into the club and get your name on the list. But then you'll know in your heart THAT YOU'RE NOT WORTHY!!! So DON'T cheat.

@Bolo, I originally had it set up against the default bots, but everyone said the golden lights would be harder... LOL, If I recal, I think you might've said that as well XD. It doesn't matter to me...

Yea I did

After actually playing it I found that the default bots kill you twice as fast as the lights...also you have to dive right into their fire to get the scrum because they are so slow you cant camp because time will run out.

Heh, probably why I'm not getting more than 15ish against the default bots. I'll have to have a go against 6 gold lights later on and see how I do against them.

I'll give it a quick try and see how it feels to me, but offhand I'm leaning toward admittance...

Heh I have another slight disadvantage in that my server is coded to auto put in the camp fire around the goal in solo scrum making things that little trickier and occasionally killing you just as you're about to score.

Most games have been around the 19-23 mark so far, but have just got really really close a couple of minutes ago:

One more second and I'd have been there...

I'll have a few more goes later on. Just wish the bots would stop diving with the damn scrum wasting so much game time.

Errr... I think I have to change my vote - I just played a game and got 21 fairly easily, in spite of several completely boneheaded maneuvers on my part (twice using a bot for a packmule, and then failing to kill it before it scored; throwing myself over a cliff while chasing a bot, spending 2 minutes trying to camp the bots and MISSING the catch 4 times in a row, etc). The heavies and mediums didn't really account for much - I charged through the entire mob of them at least once going from one side of the map to the other and didn't get killed. The fact that half the bots are almost competely incapable of shooting you makes it easier.

I know Bolo is a much better scrummer than I, but using the default bots appeared to be easier to me.

-z-: with the campfire would definitely be harder. What map are you on there? I don't recognize the placement of the goal against the backdrop.

I think there is some truth to Bolo's claim about a mix of bots killing you faster. The mediums are deadly to me in solo game play, and I can imagine that they're the same in something like this. I would say should try it with a mix of bots, but all set to gold.
-3 gold lights
-2 gold mediums
-1 gold heavy (Hum ofcourse)

But I know my vote doesn't count, just my opinion though.

You might be right TMO... I personally think they're equally challenging... But before you decide on your vote, take another look at Bolo's screeny...

HE SCORED AN UNPRECEDENTED 31 ! AGAINST THE DEFAULT BOTS!!! I say yay...

Oh, I have no doubts that 31 would be the equivalent of 25 or higher. My main question is that what score against defaults is considered the same as 25 against golds? 31? 29? 26? 25? 23? Etc. When the next person comes along and says: I scored 26 against the defaults, do you let them in too?

That is my main concern, not whether or not Bolo is worthy to join our humble ranks. XD

@Bolo: you say you get lag hosting your own game? I use the Create button from within TT, not create my own standalone host. I don't notice any lag with this method at all, other than when a dormant process on my pc takes over for a second. You can customize the skill level and size of the bots to be 6 Golds that way.

I agree with Master TMO. While it might be harder to do than Light gold bots, this club stipulates that it must not be against the default bots.
I don't think this will matter anyway because Bolo can probably get 35 against the "easier" light gold bots. Hey, it's your club, so make/break the rules as you see fit. Maybe we should include both default AND light gold bots? Your call.

By the way, can you correct the spelling of my name in your listing of members above?

P.s. I agree with Bolo, maybe there should be a higher level club for 30 goals in scrum and 60 kills in bm.

TMO: That map was Hypo Hills (the spawn location just beyond the reload gate if you've just come flying across the centre hill from the arrow pad) Cant help but think some maps are easier than others due to close proximity of spawn locations etc. Perhaps I'll try Freudian and see if thats any easier.

Yeah.. Did hurt. Soooo darn close but just not quite there and bots hot on my heels and closing in.

Mind you.. There is a lot of trust and personal honour involved in something like this, take my screenshot, whilst all the bots are named 'Gold Bot' sadly, not one of them was caught in the screenshot so they may have just been bronze bots as far as any prosecuter might argue. They might even have all been heavies for that matter. They might be bronze bots but changed to show gold brain jars. The game duration may have been set to 45 minutes instead of 15... Very easy to cheat, but actually suprisingly difficult to accomplish.

Scoring against them is easy enough, but its the 'chasing to get the flag and bring it back to the goal' quickly thats tough.. Especially when you chase across the map only to have it slide of the edge and respawn on the opposite side.

25 goals in 15 minutes.. Thats 1 goal every 36 seconds on average that you need. I found myself keeping a close eye on the timer and checking how I compared to the 'required amount' as I went along. When the first 5 mins (33%) have gone by and you are only on 6 or 7, you start to worry, when 10 mins have gone by and you're still only on 14 or 15...you've really gotta get your skates on. Watching a bot dive at this point is nothing but painful.

Heh.. Just realised I also have my script that prevents the flag from being spawned in close proximity to the goal.. So no freebies either.

Anyway.. I'm off to try Freudian to see how that stacks up.

Ah, I see it now. It's not a section of the map I usually spend much time in, and definitely not at that angle. How much effort was it to make the goals square like that?

Blind Cide used to host a server for this called Scrum Test, try for 25. But it hasn't been up in a while and I don't know how to host a dedicated server for it. Besides, if hosting a dedicated server meant running TT's all the time, then I wouldn't be able to anyways.

Wow, my opinion has actually been requested!

As I've said before, tests like this should have as many variables controlled as possible. You should pick one map and stick to it (I realize it is a bit late for that - but I would suggest Freudian Flats). Similarly, you should pick one set of bots and stick to it. Only then can comparisons be made.

So with regard to Bolo's achievement - which is indeed noteworthy of special accomplishment - I would suggest that it does not qualify for this particular club because it doesn't meet the specified criteria. Not that I am Mr. Club or anything. Stealth - you should do whatever you want since it is your deal!

P.s. The secret to this exercise is knowing when to dive, and when to have the bots mule for you.

Good point Reag... Thanks for your feedback. I agree, your opinions have swayed my vote so even if IP and Demolition where to vote yay, it wouldn't make a difference. Not that it matters sense Bolo doesn't want to play with us anyways. Oh well... No JD for B... ;) As far as the map change issue, I agreed with you from the beginning, but the majority didn't. That's why I made any of the lush maps expectable.

Hay B, sorry you feel that way... Most I ever got against the default bots was 25... 30 would require a score every 30 seconds. It's hard to believe that's statistically possible in a non moded server, but who knows. Well I'm sure it is, but the odds are EXTREMELY thin... That's why I was so impressed. If you didn't have such a good rep in the community, I would probably question the integrity of your screeny.

@Bolo - no need to take anything here personally. Your skills at scrum are NOT being maligned in any way, shape or form. I tried to make that perfectly clear in my posts. This is all just for fun, anyways. Has anybody else here changed their name?

Not me because I took this as a test, not to join a club, same with 40+. Only wanted my name on the list.

As I was setting up the server It occured to me that the most difficult configuration would be all gold on a TEAM against you. You could have more than six also. I understand that the "official" configuration should be something easy for anyone to setup.

You'd think playing with 0 ping would help but I have only acheived 22 or maybe 23. :'( No screenie for me. :[

I've played that before as practice - I like the Blood Bowl map for that. 12 is the highest I've ever scored, IIRC, on that map.

Sry if I was a bit harsh....mb in the future I will try again....any other takers for the 30/60 club?

Whew! Finally after three long games. Would have had 26 points but the stupid bot took a dive at the last minute, probably programed by anonypuss.
Anyway's here is my screenie Stealth I am now a pround member of the elite scrummers club.

Dang.. Been playing on and off most of the day in BC's server and have ended up with 22 or 23 almost every go. The slight lag doesnt help as it makes it very tough to steal but easy to lose the scrum and the number of times in a game that the bots dive forcing a respawn at opposite ends of the map is excruciatingly frustrating...

I'm still working on this. Keep getting stuck around 20..but that's including me half-watching the X Games and the bots diving every now and then.

Well, I'm finally back, and so I decided to take this 25 and over test!

Sadly I only got 23

Anyways, after being gone for so long, I guess this is better than anything for my first crack at it! The bots were of no challenge at all, but it just seemed like there was just 2 little time!

Lol, to be honest, I kind of felt my tank alittle bouncy since I haven't used it for so long XD I guess it was just being exited about being used again :P

Guess I'll try my better luck in cranium crater, since that's a smaller map, and don't have to go all the field and back just to score every time ;) (that's basically what took most of my time away B) )

Statistically speaking... A score every 30 seconds is near impossible. Possible, but highly unlikely... I think the odds are something like 1 in 250... But don't know forsure. Congratulations FatLips!

25 comes from high skill and a little luck OR high luck and a little skill

30 comes from high skill and high luck.

And we are still talking about bots here. If you played enough games it is possible to get even higher. (luck comes around)

Lips there is no 30+ 60+ club but if there were you and I are in!

Every time I look at -z-'s screeny I can't help but cringe a little. One more second and he would've made it. Because he was playing on the PTT server which is a little harder than the Scrum Test, try for 25 server (due to the lag and anti camp fog) I say we put it to a vote.
