I have no issues changing some one red or back to green or blue.
I do have issues with you who come and go,
never play a full game,
sit & spam.

I really don't think a locked server is necessary, and like Triv and Tankster pointed out, it will just keep people away from the game. These threads have just taught me to steer clear of Roo's, and I don't think I'll be playing there anytime soon. I don't think I chat too much or anything, but I'm not going to treat the game like my life depends on it, I would like to have some fun.

Some people want to sweat while they play an intense match against other people in an intense online intense computer game. Other's play for fun, enjoy the game and all it's aspects, the people, take a nice deep breath and play the game.

Seperate the two? Is that the solution?

IMO, there's a simple solution to this, without having a locked server: get more admins that you trust! If there are half a dozen people that are being overworked building a house, then get a dozen people to do it easier and faster. It's the same way with this. If the few people on a server (i.e. Roo's) feel they are overworked with all the chatter, team changing, overall noobishness from some, etc., then get more admins that you can absolutely trust to do the job.

P.S. In no way here am I saying that admining is an easy job, instead, im saying to even out the workload a little bit (like if there are two admins in a server at one time, then they arrange an agreement, like one of them admins for this game, the other admins for the next, etc., so that they both get fair playing time and each have time to have time to freely play the game).

Age is not a factor - many excellant players are the same age as my grandkids
Nor is overall time playing TT
And as far as leaving and coming back in:
Plenty of times I too get a phone call or get distracted and have to leave BUT when I return I access the status
of the server, (# of players per team) as most of you do and try to be smart about it
Maturity or gameplay is the major factor here

Besides I really dont want to have a huge banlist - it discourages the new guys
Really the only way the game will continue is for new peeps to come in...
and learn the ropes and the etiquite

Most players are already veterans judging by their demeanor
And many have posted good points in this thread

One thing is clear
We need to do something to keep as many peeps as possible happy with thier game time

One of the few features that comes stock with TT is the ability to create password servers. So do that, or don't, otherwise admin them best as possible to make it as good as can be. Threatening to lock a server if behavior doesn't change is no different than a grade school principal giving added detention. New people need a place to play and fit in, water always seeks it's own level, don't kill yourselves or the game trying to find euphoiria, never gonna happen.

If u come to play, DONT LEAVE TIL THE GAME IS OVER.... If at all possible...that way its MUCH easier to admin. Otherwise I have a hell of a time when people come and go

Point is, do it, or don't. /threat is meaningless.
This problem must be during the day, on the occasion that I get on to have a game, which is usually after 10:30 pm, the SW servers are full and the private ones are empty.

What really fries my bacon is there should be no need for an admin, people can choose outside what color team to be on, they can see what team is short players, and the vets when they come in sit till teams even out. It's the few mamby pamby babyified tit fed wussie kids out there that make this a friggin jungle, but as the ban list grows peace will come back. When the newb's come into a private server and see first hand how people play the game correctly all of these life long Shockwave players will be nothing but a distant memory. Hamma time in the private servers is now, and we will get the scum out very soon, I am already seeing a change in Roo's server in the morning's and mid afternoon, it's close kids don;t stop now , don;t give into the whinning of the few, be strong and slam the hamma hard because thats all these fools know.

Sometimes I sit down on my PC to play a nice game of TT, then I start playing and half way through the game a parent calls me down for something unexpectedly and have to leave. If I am not allowed to leave, well then I just won't play TT anymore because Roos is my favorite server.

But I don't like those people who just come in, leave, come back in, leave etc. It is just annoying and wastes time for the admins. Same for those chatty people.

Jeez now I'm afraid to chat in game, leave a game or heck even play TT.

^ Y'all got this one paranoid. Never even ran across him in all this time and know he is a great kid, still worried about a ban or a password protected server.

You aint got nuttin to worry about.

It ain't about leaving occasionally when such is necessary in order to manage one's real world life.

It is about players who interfere with the continuity of a game.

It is about players who sit on a hill top and chat while their team is getting thoroughly trounced. It is about players habitually joining a game for six or seven minutes then leaving. It is about players who leave when their team begins losing. It is about players who come into a vets game and repeatedly ask, "Does anyone know how to script?" or "My map doesn't work right what should a do?" or.... Well you know or.... It's about players who switch teams after an admin has reassigned them to a team. It's about players who chat more than the occasional obscenity.

In short --- it's about sportsmanship, respect and keeping the game moving & balanced.

But it's not about Granpa Sluggy telling a nine minute shaggy dog story on a Chaos server!! XD

I agree with the locked server for the vets from probably a different point. Last night I was in RapidScrum with Fishtank, Mags, Napalm (I assume by the earlier alias post) and some other vets. It became very obvious that I was not up to the skills of these vets, so I left (with an explanation) so they could have fairer teams. TS is a fun game, but at this point I can't compete with these great people and out of respect for their good game I think they should have their own server. Now I don't know how people who have acquired the skills would get into these servers, since the vets probably won't be able to tell if they don't leave the locked ones. But I do think that the people like the ones I played with last night deserve a good, fair game with others of their skill.

Something does have to be worked out, and thank God I'm not at an admin......great job all.

You shoulda stayed. Atleast you grasp the concept of TS. Excessive noobness by a player can spoil a game, but not you. I remember when I first figured out how to install the modpack, and ventured into TS w/ the big boys. I had no idea why people were calling me Leroy Jenkins, and was mocked when I said "woot" after scoring a FB. I had no Idea what was going on. I felt like a douche, and didn't go back to TS for a long time.
Maybe a /kick message directing the person kicked to the "how to play TS" thread would be helpful. Woulda helped me.

Here's where I can boil it down to the basics.

I don't give a rats ass if it's 7 against two or 5 against five. All I ask for is some balance in the games.

No one-line has described it better than Sluggy!

The problem is, people (vets included) have no idea how the game was just changed by them dropping in. There have been some realy horseshit games that turned out to be some of the funnest once some of the vets left. It's not just a noob thing, the vets need to examine how they change the game as well. The thing that is turning me off the most is, when it's painfully obvious that the teams are unballanced and some other vet tells you to shut up, quit whining, or to suck it up. But they don't offer, or resist team changing.

There are some people that just want to pounce on the other teams. I can't even stress how many games lately have a full team of TOP players that are playing an opposing team of top players and newcomers. It's a bunch of crap.

This is why I have little interest in playing anymore, and both of my 3 on 3 team mates are either disinterested, or 95% already out of the game.

^ Good points Nap, I see the same thing alot with some vets. Who wants to win in a blowout anyway? I think there are still some that see the game in TS as whoever is on top or the scoreboard wins. Same happens in TBM. Not enough team play.

Maybe communication is the key.

Last in (under a known name) ask's if he is on correct team, should sit and wait or go red. Is this a good procedure to follow for everyone?
