Upstate New York, 35 miles Northwest of Syracuse, 50 miles East of Rochester, 8 miles South of Lake Ontario.... Better known around here as the "Boonies" ! :)
Why the womb of course.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.
Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.
@stinky: Yes, trying to learn it at the moment.
Your punctuation is slightly confusing, but I presume the gist of it is: "I will learn Japanese but.. Have waited. I don't understand some of the Japanese language because its exceedingly difficult and I at the moment I cant read Japanese. Are you studying it?"
@Stealth: Are you learning Japanese too then?

Z...nihongo o bekyo shimasu, kedo....matta nihongo o amari wakarimasen....totemo muzukashi kara..ima, nihongo o yomimasen.....benkyo shimasta ka?
Well this is what I meant:
I am studying japanese (maybe I should have said shitte imasu) but don't yet understand it well...because its is very difficult...i don't read it ( I should have said zenzen yomimasen) did you study it?
I studied japanese for two years back at the university, but that was 13 years ago...and japanese is exceedingly difficult..many of the words are the same form, different meaning...and reading it...forget about it. I'm kinda taking a break for a while...why are you studying it? Planning a trip?
Stinky
@stinky: or "benkyou shite iru". The 'matta' (presumably for 'yet') was confusing me and I only saw that as 'waited'. Would not 'nao' have been better there?
I'm just learning it partly out of curiosity, partly as a challenge, and mostly because I've always been fascinated by all things Japanese. No where near two years worth yet though, more like only a few weeks and only in the written form as yet (except for reading subtitles on Japanese films and trying to make better sense of the spoken language that way).
As for visiting Japan, I will do one day when I can afford it. It's one place that's been top of my 'desired holiday destinations' for many years.

So expensive to travel here...i've concentrated on the oral vs. Written....and I'm stuck in the polite forms...which is why I suggested the benkyo shite imasu.. Yeah, matta for yet...i don't know what 'nao' means...these guys say matta a lot!
Hey z, before you blow all your cash on a ticket, you might want to read the book "lost japan" on the lonely planet label. It is an autobiographical examination of a westerner living in japan that chronicles the dissolution of japanese culture and environment after the reconstruction. Alot has been lost here, in the name of progress....
But there is still plenty of beauty, and tokyo is a real gas. Gambatte!
Sounds like a good read. Will certainly look out for that next time I'm in the book shop. :)

I'm fascinated to know where all you guys (and gals) are playing from. Somehow, by the magic of Electrickery, you all appear to be in my living room. I'm in Loughton, Essex, just on the outskirts of London. (Don't worry, I won't ask to come and stay the weekend!)
