Seriously, are you smokin' weed behind Mom's back again?
Player, are you even kidding me? I have had my Mac for over 3 years, and it hasn't crashed once!! I dropped it 5 ft onto a printer off a flimsy stand and it still didnt crash! Then, when I use Windows machines all they do is crash! Do you even know how hard it is to force quite something on a windows machine?? Takes like 5 years, then about 2 minutes later you get the send or dont send crap! On a mac, if you need for force quit an application , which is extremely rare, than its instantaneous, no doubt about it.
You know player, you aren't exactly on the good side of most the people I know in TT... And most those people are Vets and very respected, mild mannered people. Dazzle, who is a very smart grown man with a great head on his shoulders, hates you! Because you act like you know what your talking about but you don't! This has a lot to do with rollerball, but again is having a lot to do with your all around attitude. And here you are, talking about how most mac posts are irrelevant when you have some newbs talking about xBox.... Which has nothing to do with pcs, except that Microsoft made it...
Oh and also, If I were as skinny as you are, I wouldn't be so damn cocky... That is, unless you go around with your heavy tank all day long... :'(
Did you get your weed from those couple of teachers? Is your weed laced?

My mac(s) hasn't crashed since the 90s.this is propaganda film. I reject it.
First off...this discussion should not be taken as an opportunity to trash an individual. Player...i have no qualms w you...in fact I do respect you. So nothing personal meant with my comments.
That being said...i think we are beyond g4's at this point. Lets not use outdated hardware as reference to the pros and cons arguement. I am surprised though as my g4 can still run relatively well despite its limited memory and processor (lets not mention the video card).
Apples to apples here I have still not yet heard a compelling arguement against macs (current models as in the last 3 years). Bring some first hand experience of to date models and im all ears. My experience remains steadfast...and its all macs.
Canned, I think it's hilarious that you're trying to insult me personally when we're arguing about computers.
Ok get some, compelling argument: flexibility, price. You can build a PC for quite a bit less than a comparable Mac. PCs are more flexible, especially in terms of hardware. What hardware can you upgrade on a Mac? You can basically upgrade anything on a PC.
MacOS
They Cost So Mush Because Of Harder Scripting And The Programs That Are on Macs Work Beautifally
The programs work beautifally
it is meant to never be shut down, just put to sleep i wake up in the morning, click the mouse button, and presto! What I was working on the day before as I had left it
ThinkTanks works like when I get on rollerball my lag is 35% better than everyone elses i do try to get on a lot
scripting is quite hard, thats why programs in the long run are simple
you can have both on one machine my dad bought a thing called virtual PC its a PC on a mac, you switch between the systems at will. We did a side by side
comparison-MacOS rox!
yes im a girl and yes this is my anime crush
I think a better question is why would you purchase a PC that doesn't do what you want it to do?
As software advances, it becomes more demanding of resources.
If much beyond memory or storage if you upgrade a component you now have a state of the art component hooked up to less state of the art ones.
Yeah, but those "state of the art components" can make a huge difference. For example, if you are getting poor performance in games, getting a new video card could easily double your framerates. In many cases it is a complete waste to get a new computer.
I don't have a 3D acc.
I have a MacOS that said on the box "for all your gaming needs "
yes im a girl and yes this is my anime crush
True enough, although if you were OK with the frame-rates to begin with... Eh
Well let's say you buy a Mac every two years like you say you do (which is a waste IMO, I would just upgrade my PC and it would be fine). Games from two years ago would be a lot easier on your two-year-old graphics card, but new games could be struggling. So wouldn't it be easier to just get a new card then buy a new computer?
Oh yeah, I forgot, Macs don't have games ;)
thats all there is to the mac. No other PC set. I know, I have one
Which one is better? You ask? THE MAC!
My brother has 10x exactally the games I do I counted, and I have 20. There are like 99,999,999,999,999,999,999, billion / a gogolplex out there(a gogollplex is like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) its really easy to update go to a button thing in the dropdown menu and select "uptade software" you wait 1 minuet, I timed it, and presto chango, you have an updated computer. My dad was loading his 1 mac to another took 1 hour, downloading microsoft office for mac took 5. Downloading it onto his virtual PC took 7. To uptade the disc, simply gently pry the back off, stick a new card in, put it back on. Somthing like that.

Okay, who ever said you couldn't upgrade your mac? If you want to get the latest graphics card, all you'd have to do is open your mac (I've done it before) and replace the card! And I've had this iMac G5 single proccessor for 3 years and there is nooo problem AT ALL. Its 1.8ghz PowerPC G5 proccessor, 768 MB DDR SCRAM, and a GeForce FX 5200 with 64 MB from nVIDIA... Its worked great this whole time.... I actualy use it for wiFi as well... Its the base for the entire house connection.
But the power of the computer is not our point, its that macs are built to last longer and work better than pcs. Okay? Who here has a PC thats 5 years old that work well enough for use today... And who here has a 5 year old mac that works well today.... My money goes to more macs.... PCs get viruses, are slow, and have tons of glitches.
Get over yourself
Who here has a PC thats 5 years old that work well enough for use today
*Raises hand*

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that voids the warranty.
PCs get viruses, are slow, and have tons of glitches.
Viruses? Not if you run Linux, or Windows with good antivirus. Slow? Depends mainly on your hardware. PCs are much more flexible in terms of hardware. Glitches? Sure, basically everything has glitches. It all depends on what software you run. Which, again, PCs win in software flexibility.
And why has no Mac person mentioned anything about price?
PS: SCRAM? Lol I'm guessing that's a typo, but if not, what's scram?
Who here has a PC thats 5 years old that work well enough for use today
*Raises hand* Not only that, I have 4 of them. All of them can play thinktanks, run paint shop, browse the net, etc.
Player, it is impossible to argue with mac fanboys. Give up and let's get out of here.
Flea, I broke my "tech-gayness." I have now set up AmaroK to sync my GP2X with my music and download the Linux Action Show podcast to it.
Advice taken racer, I'll be bailing out.
Have the Mac(or is it for Linux?) user's ever tried this Mac on Linux? :

Not that this has to do with what is being talked about here but I found it interesting to read.
I myself do not know the least amount about a pc, mac, I just know I have a pc and I turn it on. Never had a problem so far.

*also raises hand*
In fact, the machine I play TT with is 5 years old, runs Xubuntu Edgy like a l33t machine, and only has the graphics card upgraded (from a stock GeForce 2 to a GeForce 5200FX, and even that's not that recent). [EDIT: Forgot the RAM: Added a gig to the stock 256MB.] It runs the OS X screensaver (well, a Linux port of it, anyways) at 42 FPS, and GLXGears reports almost 2000 FPS. That's fine for gaming.

really is it up-to-date?
macs are dominating busness now like 80% of buisness userz own a mac
PC dominate cuz they are easy to script making them cheap yet the new new macs are just as easy yet run wonderfully better in my opinion. I have a PC keyboard on my MAC and I did not have to install the installer ting for MACS because this works so well and is compatible. So really WTP? Kthe virtual macs thing sux and is still impossibly slow by my opinion while macs are so fast running a virtual linux with a lot of memory, a virtual PC with a lot of memory, and a mac work SOOOO fast. So I vote
Republins - PC
democrats - linux
GREEN PARTY - (I like green party) MacOS!!!!
The MACs r so sleek even if it is outdates while PC r ugly and the flatscreens still have the seprate computer the MAC flatscreens r 1/2 an inch wide WITH NO OTHER PARTS! Just a moniter! I think that is quite cretibile so yeah.

You would be really screwed is your OS didn't detect your keyboard. Maybe that was a selling point 15 years ago.

Teenskye, you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about computers.
Macs are dominating busness now like 80% of buisness userz own a mac
Oh my god this is the funniest shit I have heard all day.

DOY you are emulating a full computer... Of cource computers need a LOT OF MEMORY to do it well. Mine has a gig of RAM and it can run Windows in VMWare perfectly under Linux. I do all my graphics with it.

PCs are not always ugly. Look at This PC. Don't assume what you don't know. Some macs, generally the higher end ones, have towers seperate from the monitors. I give you Example A.
Learn to spell while you're at it.
This topic sucks arse. Everyone who posted in it sucks too. Even me. I am friggin' pissed.

Cool. Welcome to the golden years!

Except that it just crashed and you lost everything......
And if you're still pissing over Linux's lack of ease of use, try Mandriva on for size. There. It's friendly. It's got NVidia and ATI drivers out of the box. It has Xgl, Aiglx, and Compiz out of the box. It's got MP3 support. The "Mandriva One" edition is a live CD which gets Compiz running in 2 minutes flat. I tried it: it's taken me countless hours to get Compiz working on Xubuntu, and it STILL doesn't work, but Mandriva set it up in minutes. And it has all that other non-free stuff (Skype, MP3 codecs, Java, etc) on one CD. I can now say I've used Compiz and it ROCKS. So, are you happy now?
Computers are computers. No need for a 5 page PC vs MACS. O_O

@Napalm she was hit by lightning - thats not a software glitch
@GQ I enjoyed the linux article - very informative
And oh btw I have switched to linux for a number of reasons
1 money - virus protection for my network would have ran $150 plus under windows - per year
2 money - Linux is free and windows vista would ahve been another unneccessary expense
3 money again - Linux has all the apps I use built in - no need to purchase addition software
4 security - I would point out that both mac and linux OSs are unix based
Which is an OS built on the network concept - not patched over a few hudred times
5. Ease of operation - K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid)
I install linux and in 20 minutes am surfing the web
When I install windows it takes 90 minutes for the base operating system
and another 2 hours for all the security patchs from Winblows update
Read the linux link that GQ provided ^^^^
Its an eye opener

This is a thread for discussing the pros and cons of the two computer types; PC's and MAC's.
My specialty is PC's. I know nothing about MAC's, and I myself have a few questions.
I'll start off by discussing the amount of computing power you get for the money. (It's all about the money anyway eh? ) Now, I've seen where I can get a PC with 3.2 GHz Celeron D processer 352, 512 mb of RAM, and an 120 Gig HD for $300. Yet, I see a mini-MAC with 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 Processer, 512 mb RAM, and 80 Gig HD, for $350 on the same site. Both came with DVD/CD-RW combo drives... Now, the real question, why does the MAC cost so much more? It's specs are way off compared to the PC...
Pass the popcorn...
