To the group on Rx's server tuesday night:
I lost my cool, and I am very sorry for a number of things that I said during the game, most notably telling bolo to "take off [his] dress and give [his] sister back her lipstick." Rx, having just entered, asked me if I had failed to take my medication again, as I seemed unusually hostile, even towards bolo, a person for whom I tend to reserve my sharper comments. I was particularly foul; Rx later asked if it was even me.
In the previous game, a player by the name of Soren, unknown to all, was taking over a 15 minute round of scrum with kid, monkee, and prey by his side. My suspicions were raised, and I requested that MM grab this player's IP for referencing to see who it was that was hiding his real self, an act I find to be the TT epitome of cowardice.
When a boxer enters the ring, does he fight a shadow? A black mask with the lights off, a silhouette? Another man with a picture of his mother stapled to his face and and the sweet wafts of his sister's perfume? When men agree to a duel like that fine senator from the south, does a circus carney in a funny wig show up instead?
No, that boxer knows who he is fighting, because he signs a contract, and when the two meet face-to-face, mano-a-mano , he can stare into the other cat's eyes and intimidate him, rustle the bushes and startle the squirrels of fear within.
That's what Think Tanks is all about. It's comradarie, and it's competition. It's knowing that the guys you do battle with and against every night are the people who they say they are, not wet-panted nancies who, despite this very virtual reality competition and repeatedly being told that accomplishments wearing an alias are of no value to anyone - and in fact only depress the prestige of the user because such acts of pitiful deception evidence his or her own inability to compete on a level, honest playing field- , proceeded to boast about his pyrrhic victory by proclaiming "YOUVE BEEN BOLOED." Congratulations, and do accept my apologies. I henceforth endeavor to attain your level of nobility.
When the two others you are allied with decide to defend their title, do wake me.

I understand the B...what's wrong with him? He dies just like all the other tanks ;) ! A bit cocky? Sure...but he can back it up. Sometimes you need to get your ear cuffed for making a bone-headed play in TS. That way you won't make it again :).

Ok I edited my old post on previous page. I meant to say I HOPE BOLO WILL KEEP BRAGGING. XD Nothing like a wasp to have my horse moving!

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 12:31:45 PM

My only alias is "Two kids in my lap" and I use it when my kids are literally sitting in my lap and rather than watch me get the scrum into the goal, they much prefer me to get the BounceBack powerup" because my 4 yo. Daughter thinks they are pretty and my 1.5yo son just like to say "ball!"

You people are real characters. I always think about the personalities behind all of these names and imagine... It would be great to have a set of Think Tanks trading cards.

I can hear it now "I'll trade you my Bolo the Braggart for your HanksaTanksta Egomaniac"..

But anyway, I really wish the Think Tanks servers implemented logins & aliases .

In Myth II, you could change your name everytime you played but if you were getting your butt kicked by "Joe Player" you simply had to type in "/login Joe Player" and you saw who's account it was.

Personally, I enjoy Think Tank the most when I am playing Team Scrum in a balanced game and the score is practically tit for tat up to the last second. I don't have to be the high scorer, although I general try to score at least once just to contribute. Aliases can disrupt this. So me no likey. I think everyone can feel like they are being targeted and dying every 10 seconds. But from what I've seen , spawning can just as easily help you as hurt you and BMing a good player really doesn't squash their game. Blocking , good blocking is what will shut down anyone.

Concerning the criticisms, it would be funny to create a list of all the vets and start a thread were each person had to post what they thought about that particular player. I think it would be good therapy for all of us tankers. You know, air some greivances, give out some props, and then scrum like hell afterward.

Peace out...

Sniper

Great post sniper and I agree on almost every point.

No go on the trade, though. I'm trying to get rid of my Bolo cards right now too. They don't seem to be worth shit anymore. I got a Paisano and a getsome for three Bolo's last week -- a hell of a trade, if you ask me. I'll give you 3 DJ Wings and a pdiddyseal for your Tally card. What do you say?

Ah crap 44...i was gonna try and trade you three bolos and a bottle of chivas for "tankgirl in hotpants." what if I throw in a "da cleaner" and my rare "gnomie" cards?

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 2:09:55 PM

TG in hotpants? All I got is a TG Thighs vet card. Even so, I wouldn't trade it unless you had a couple MajorPain Rookie cards and one of the Bolo in dress (they're common, but most people don't recognize them). :P

Huh? Anyone know how much an original "TankDork" card would be worth? I think I got one of those around here somewhere. *rummage rummage*

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 4:51:19 PM

I'll give you a FoulPlay card with no '1' at the end of his name for 2 Memphizzle cards.

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 4:55:10 PM

"TG in Hotpants" lol.

James, you would trade a TG card for a couple-a Major Pain rookie cards and a bolo card?

Bah!!!... Clearly you have never seen the "TG the Secretary" card... Or the "TG the Cheerleader" card... Or maybe the "TG the Tiger" card.....
Maybe you never saw the early edition of the "TG the Rookie hits the showers" card?

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 5:08:04 PM

I did start to make trading cards once, but never really got into it, and actual interest was shortlived.

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 5:32:06 PM
Ben

That's cause no one ever actually did see the "TG the Rookie hits the showers" card.

@Stink

No trade! What the hell do you take me for? I had to go through 132 packs of cards before I found my limited-edition "TankGirl in Hotpants" card -- it's mint. Memphis is still chewing all the bubblegum I gave him (ain't kickin' ass anymore, though).

I tell you what. Give me two of your "Bolo in a Dress" cards, one of the old "Young Republican Tally Hos" and the full set of "Fundies in Undies" (JB, Rabban, Rogue, et. Al.) and I'll let you hold TG in Hotpants for a month. Deal?

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 6:09:54 PM

Deal!!!

But what if it gets a little sticky while I'm "holding" it?

(don't ask me why the bolo in the dress cards are sticky...thats, eh...jest coconut pudding).

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 7:00:39 PM

No trading cards needed, only gum.

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 7:20:23 PM

LOL... Hilarious stuff about the trading cards!!!
I'd like the special edition set where it would display the player's original name and when you tilt it alittle, it would display their alias.
Example, "LilAlienD" and then "The LAD"
or SteAlth and then "Atreyu"
It would also be cool to see their most often used line or phrase....
example, on the Memphis card: "I've come to chew gum and kick some a$$!"
There could be a series of villain cards too:
JFDNY, Sperm/Chong (now reformed), Anonymous, etc.

Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 7:33:05 PM

Lol 44, stinks...hehe

How bout a serial killa card

Turn it and it changes gender?

I'll trade any cards for the TG card, but you must throw in the sandpaper mittens and the gallon of KY to seal the deal.

I'll trade 2 Monkeeman rookie cards, a ReagentX Admin card, and a Tally Ho Angst card for a Tankgirl in Snoopie Slippers 2005! (I don't know why that amuses me so much....something about mixing fuzzy slippers and tank-killing).

THANK YOU JB!!!!! That is why I started the snoopy thread... The image is funny to me too.... Every time I think about the big puffy snoopy slippers on my feet and death and destruction at my hands, it makes me giggle a bit. Hard to get too worked up over a game when one is wearing the snoops. Good thing I'm invincible when my snoops are on eh?

Hmmm

Doh! I got me a MESS trading card but it has no image and nothing written on it.
I also have one (1) very rare card, an old -Z- 'Zoggles 2003' to trade... A very rare vintage, impossible to see nowaday!

Monday, January 10, 2005 at 4:48:20 PM

Ill trade my tally ho rookie card (released in 2005) for the TG card....

Monday, January 10, 2005 at 7:48:19 PM

The three cards for the champs (Bolo, Hanskta and Jangles) are extra large sized to encompass the over-sized craniums of their tanks.
:)

OM

^ But from what I've heard, these 3 cards almost never appear together at the same anymore. Is that true?

Monday, January 10, 2005 at 8:32:46 PM

: )

Monday, January 10, 2005 at 8:42:29 PM

@ 44
the only reason you got so much out of my card is that for some reason they always seem to be packaged next to the stale gum, thus leaving the undesirable residue. A mint "get some" card is hard to find thus superficially driving up the value.

Separate thread LAUNCHED!

Help!
My slugthog and Old Duffer rookie cards are getting tattered and dog eared.
Any ideas how to preserve them?

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 12:04:57 PM

Woot! Good cards Baba! I've got mine in a display case.
