@ SK, I'm not a Linux user, but that error message on a Mac means that you have to command prompt the terminal first to let it know where the file is.

Thanks for all the donations guys, there's a bunch starting to pile up in the paypal donation account. -z- has been a little scarse lately but we exchanged emails briefly about getting a dedicated TT server, as soon as we can iron out the details we should be able to set this up. I recently had some major computer problems. A bad uninstall of a program seems to have deleted the hal.dll file. After trying everything in the book I had to resort to non-destructive system recovery (damn Windows, score one more for the almighty Mac).
Soooooo I've lost ThinkTanks :-( I purchased it from a third party website which has now vanished.
If someone would send me a new copy, I'll donate $25 to the TT fund. I wanted to try this before sending the money elsewhere.

Well... I'm starting to think, we have a GREAT start. I think if it was set-up, and we had lag-free CTF up and running, more players would get into it and start to subscribe in order to get the 'subscriber' privledges.

We do have to donate the current server to make up for that cost though.

Well it's not an instant thing to appear on the donations page. Mine took a day or so.

I'm still waiting to hear back from -z- , I'm not sure what his availablity is to implement this. I pretty much just handle negotiating the leases and covering the bills if donations don't.

Okay....you asked for an explanation of why a second server would decrease "CTF lag" and why you should care. Here's my response:

"Planetthinktanks.com (PTT) and any mod hosted by -z- sits on one server. These mods include CTF, Survivor, PTT Team Battrlemode, and PTT Scrum. You apparently haven't been around long enough to see anything other than CTF and maybe Survivor - this is because -z- is the only one that can host these two mods. While I am not absolutely sure why no one else can host Survivor, -z- has told me and several other people on several occasions that he can't allow anyone else to host CTF due to non-disclosure agreements with Bravetree, as well as the close integration of the statistics with PTT. Anyone set up properly can host a scrum, team scrum, or battlemode server. It is my personal opinion that this is why -z- predominantly puts up CTF and Survivor.

As the database for PTT gets larger, and the membership gets bigger, PTT becomes a greater and greater draw on the resources of the server which hosts it. Unfortunately, when this happens, it creates lag amongst any game that is hosted on that server. As the lag has gotten increasingly bad in the last 60 days, CTF was the only mod that was up. That is why only CTF players noticed it, and that is why it is predominantly CTF players who are doing the bitching."

Since the ball is rolling on this now I will start what I promised ! I first stated that I would do 20.00 a month($10for my son & $10 for me ) but my son Law never plays any more so I will do $10 a month but I need another way to pay beside Pay Pal, my account is still screwed up ! So if some one could email me the address to mail my money to I would be very great full ! B)

I have begun negotiations with hypernia to get a game server on their "IP Plus" triple redundant network. Basically what this means is that there are 3 main backbones for the game traffic to be routed over, the network automatically selects the one with the least ping to ensure the best connection no matter where you connect from.

Typically these hosting agreements are month to month, but in the past I have been able to negeotiate cheaper monthly rates by committing to a year of service. That is what I am trying to do here as well, however it means I'll be depending on you guys for a little help. If you dont I'll be stuck with a years worth of server bills.
