Ummm, What happened?
Dont do drugs kiddies.
@Rogue
Your oppinion means nothing to me or anyone else. You've proven to be a hothead who has an issue with me for whatever reason.
Also, I know as a fact that you've played with aliases and acted like a complete moron to me and others (matched ip addresses, Einstein).
I love the game and enjoy myself more than you do. It only irritates me when miserable people like you show up to get their kicks from insulting me.
Get some anger management courses before it's too late....Life is too short to be so unhappy all the time. Be nice for a change.

My feelings about this are posted on my website .
I have been a long time participant of many a late-night gentlemenly, competitive, all skills, vets, heart-pumping action, oooh's and ahh's, thrills and agony, precision teamwork, selfless team cooperation, incredible jaw-dropping, one-of-a-kind, just-dont-want-to-miss-a-thing, hour upon hour Team Scrum TT sessions.
There is a whole community of folks who also love to participate and contribute to this type of atmosphere.
I see my role as a TS server hoster as a way I can do my part to contribute something to the community. Every community survives because of many people who decide to give a little more than they take away.
I run my server in such a way that I try to create a little sheltered fantasy-land where the sophisticated, mature and skilled players can be themselves and have a ball.
The thing is Paisano, you can't mandate maturity. I have tried to make it clear to most people that I prefer people to use their real name in my server. I feel that it helps build the community and to me it's like "Jesus F Christ - we are all already anonymous anyway! Just be yourself and get to know people!" Anyone who consistently has an identifiable and stable name over time become like a signpost, or a pillar that other nameless aliases and noobs can recognize and point to as the core glue of the community.
I would never make this preference into an absolute rule. That kind of stance only invites the wrong kind of energy. In fact, I have never, ever banned a single person from my server. I have found that everyone I have had a problem with will respond if you confront them in a respectful and factual manner. I believe that most people who take the time to think about it and understand what a special and fragile thing it is that we have going here, will decide to either help out or go away.
So, I appreciate you bringing this up and I'm glad to see that you intend to take the better path! Paisano is one of the few people I had to confront head-on, but I gave him the opportunity to mend his ways.
As far as people who are good sports but use a new alias all the time, please really think it through -- that's all I ask! Don't be surprised though if you get an e-mail from me at some point!

@RX
Awesome post! Very well put. I see what you're saying about not enforcing the issue as a rule. Your methodology sure has worked very well. As you pointed out, I had to face the music with you and I appreciated the mature, intelligent and respectful manner that you handled it. You are a class act...unlike others on here. That old saying is true about catching more bees with honey than vinegar! Your advise made sense and it has proved to be exactly correct. I wish more veterans would heed your suggestion and stop the madness of playing with aliases.
Be proud of your name and stop hiding. As you said, it's still not our real names anyway!
Note: I guess it doesn't matter what names people use anyway on these servers because if they become trolls they will eventually get called out on it by the admin.
If they don't stop their troll like behavior, then they will either get booted or have their name revealed for all to see and maybe banned if that still doesn't stop them.
Sheesh - get a life - I play for fun whenever I feel like I need a break from working.
I like using the current date (January 29 2005) for my alias which I know annoys people - SO WHAT! Maybe I'll be someone else - SO WHAT!
WHAT A DAY!
I'm nice, never curse and have friendships with many of the folks here.
Paisano, you've avoided me and it seems that you seldom finish a game - why not make up some nazi rules about that.
Suppose its someone new......
@Rory
Chill dude. You're an exception to this rule just as TankGirl is. Your constant name change to reflect the date is well known by now and most of us like it. I think it's funny how you say What a day whenever you score or A Super day! It's a good gimmick. I have no problems with any of it.
As for quitting a lot, I covered that in another thread on here. Here's the link.
I guess that's why you think I avoid you. I don't avoid anyone in TT except perhaps Tanty because he just wastes half the game running around the map with the scrum.
@Treavis
Great question. It does happen a lot when someone new pops up and does very well. For example, everyone swore that RedBeard was an alias for a well established veteran when he started playing ts with us because he was so good. In time, the admins couldn't find a match for his IP address and we all learned that he was indeed not using an alias. So you're right about not assuming that any new name is automatically an alias. That means kicking someone out for that wouldn't be smart or fair. It has to be proven.
@Rogue
Listen, you have every right to disagree with me but you have to learn to do it with respect. Look at the way Regeant X disagreed with my idea. He did not make it personal and did not attack me in a way that had nothing to do with the point of the thread. He explained why he didn't like the idea and in the process respected what I was trying to say. By the end of his post, I found myself rethinking my own stance and actually changing my mind to some degree. Maybe he's right that players shouldn't get kicked for using an alias. Maybe they need to be warned first and then have their alias changed during the game to their well known name. Only after repeated warnings and continued abuses by the player should they be banned.
Just as they say "Don't hate the player, hate the game" we should remember "Don't hate the poster, hate the post".
You don't know me, so don't judge me.
@Rogue
Fair enough Rogue. You're just keeping it real and have the right to speak your mind. Keep on doing it. Even if it hurts, we appreciate the truth.
I really do. I like to think I have an open mind and always willing to admit when I wet the bed and learn from the experience. I don't consider it a weakness to actually change your mind when you learn to see things from another perspective. It's called growing and learning. Nothing is worse than a pig headed stubburn person who is unwilling to ever look at things from another perspective. They are hellbent on being right no matter how foolish they look. I don't work that way. I am secure enough to admit I was wrong and change my mind/view.
Thus, I will heed the nuggets of wisdom scattered within your sometimes brutal honesty. I might not like the way you say things, but I think I know where you're coming from. I will do my best to do better on ptt and tt.
Now let's have fun...
"To flame or not to flame..."
ThinkTanks (Proverbs, of course) 13:5, guess who... And @that person, people quote the Bible all the time, so why can't I quote the great bible of ThinkTanks Proverbs?
TT has a bible? Anyway,it appears I'm in it.

^ Teacher getting beated by his own students? XD
You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.
Can we just get back to playing the game?????

I have the exact same sentiments as Reagent X
Everyone, at one point or another has outside pressures, and goes to play the game finding nothing goes thier way.
FINE
Get pissed say fu%k it!
Go to bed and feel like an ass because it's a $20 game.
Go to work and think about it all day. That night join the game and forget about yesterdays fiasco.
Enjoy the game again!
It's a game we take seriously, you can't have the game go your way all of the time.
Can we just get back to playing the game?????

I think Tally Ho said it much better than I did here. Remember his Apology thread ?
I will agree that it would be too much trouble for admins to kick players who use aliases, but I still contend (as Tally & Reagent X have said) that playing with your established name is the right thing to do. Playing incognito under the cloak of an alias is not good sportsmanship. Obviously, using aliases for fun in indie scrum is another situation altogether. I've done that many times with 44 and hope to do so again sometime.
I enjoy themes in scrum, so aliases are a lot of fun in that respect. That isn't the case in team scrum.
Ok kettle

Oh, hey thanks bo...you SOB.
If I ever have an alias of mine,I'll put (EEL) next to it.
Just don't be fooled,I have some imposters that might do this.

Ok what did I do
And

If u r talking about me I never play TS or reaglue S I play TMB or BM
(DARK)
O well it says FLAME war

Hmm. I didn't read every post in the thread, but wouldn't enforcing known names rather than aliases just welcome impostoring? While in theory it sounds like a decent idea for private servers, I think until name registration becomes a reality in TT, this will only make people getting kicked come back in under a known player name. Of course a simple IP match will show that it is in fact the same person just kicked, but geez, do the admins want to spend all their time loking up player IPs to see who's who? Maybe they do, but it doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me.
Also, it could get into ugly discrimination, but since these are private servers we're talking about, I guess anyone can do what they choose. Anyway, that's just me thinking out loud.
Carry on.

Aliases should not be allowed anymore on Team Scrum servers! Reagent X was the first admin who started enforcing this law/rule on his Team Scrum server. At first, I was offended and thought he was wrong, but as I've played more and more with my name Paisano instead of an unknown alias, I've seen many of the benefits that he said I would. It does make the experience more friendly and personal when you KNOW who you're playing. It also helps your teammates when they know who're playing with...as well as against. It also makes everything more honest. Using aliases is a sneaky and cowardly thing to do. I know because I did it for so long. Too long in fact! That's why I never use aliases anymore (unless it's one of my very well known ones like NumbNuts or Gladiator). I do want to say that I like the way TankGirl uses aliases. She always puts (TG) in her name so it's never sneaky and always obvious who it is.
Thus, I propose that every admin of team scrum servers impliment a new marshall law that Reagent X started: No more aliases!!!
You shall be kicked off the server immediately if no one in the game knows who you are or if you don't identify yourself. If you persist, then you will be banned by IP address. Period. Also, the admin could actually rename your alias to your well known name for you! Reagent X did this once and it was shocking and hilarious! It was like being naked in public! You think you're safe in hiding but then you're exposed in an instant!
I think it's great!
I am tired of the chicken sh@# cowards out there who insist on playing under the cloak of animity. They need to grow up and become accountable for their actions. As 44 once said, own the name and own the game (or something like that).
