Just wondering why we're not talking about this.

Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 8:55:06 AM

Yes, why now?

At first blush it just seems to be the next "crisis" that needs talking up by the Decider and cronies. They are expert at the three card monte art of distraction. Let's call this immigration crises by Bush, "The Mexican turnover."

If everyone is real skeerd of what George 1 called "the little brown ones" let's not forget that no known terrorist have entered through the Mexican boarder. But there has been known terrorists caught trying to enter through Canada, which btw has welcomed many middle east immigrants and has a large muslim presence.

LOL, it also just happens to be that our neighbors to the south and north are also the two largest single suppliers of our imported crude oil. Bet you thought it was those pesky arabs didn't you. I was poo-pooed when I pointed out that how to tell when W was lying was anytime his lips are moving. Our "addiction" to oil is in reality the petrol industries addiction to the clocking paper and W is their toss up.

So with Iraq's contribution being a 10th of what Mexico, Canada and Venezuela supplies (Iran isn't even on the chart), why are gas prices so high? I mean, even if Iran stopped pumping oil, why would we care? (Its all a game, isn't it?)

So maybe our neighbors should give us a break on oil to defray the cost of all their folks are moving here. XD

Lol...

I've spent the last 3 hours sitting here and writing column after column, for a post. But I'll just drop it all. It's not worth it.

All in all. Here's my only advice to any country with a problem:

Take a close look at Sweden. Follow its example and you'll all be fine.

Goodbye.

Firstly, good choice reducing the three hours to three minutes.

Take a close look at Sweden. Don't follow its example and you'll all be fine.

Fixed it for you. No need to thanks. I'm a humble man. :)

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

"MATHMATICS THEN AND NOW

Last week I purchased a burger and fries at McDonalds for $3.58.

The counter girl took my $4.00 and I pulled 8 cents
from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there,
holding the nickel and 3 pennies. While looking at the
screen on her register, I sensed her discomfort and
tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but
she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to
explain the transaction to her, she stood there and
cried.
Why do I tell you this?

Because of the evolution in teaching math since the
1950s:

Teaching Math In 1950

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His
cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his
profit?

Teaching Math In 1960

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His
cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What
is his profit?

Teaching Math In 1970

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His
cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

Teaching Math In 1980

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His
cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20 Your
assignment: Underline the number 20.

Teaching Math In 1990

A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is
selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the
habitat of animals or the preservation of our
woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of
$20. What do you think of this way of making a living?
Topic for class participation after answering the
question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the
logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong
answers.)

Un ranchero vende una carretera de madera para $100.
El cuesto de la produccion era $80. Cuantas tortillas
se pueden comprar?"

An immigrant friend of ours just imparted a new twist on the scenario. My friend is from Africa and she is pissed.... Really pissed. She has been going through the naturalization process and has been playing by the rules for two years. She has been here working on Visas, she has been doing everything the right way. She is close to getting her citizenship and it will be a tearful, wonderful moment for her.

Unfortunately, she is seriously pissed off at the 11 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country who are trying to become citizens by not following the rules of the country they want to be naturalized in.

She says, "How can you expect to be a citizen if you can't even follow the first rules to get your citizenship?

I heard another take on this the other day. It was basically from those Americans living on the border. They're facing trespassers, destruction of property and theft. Illegals are taking whatever they need to survive, with no regard for those they're taking in from. As a national issue, I think its easy to overlook the local problems.

Okay, this is gonna sound cold hearted... But....

Today a van full of illegal aliens (27 to be exact) was racing down interstate 8 in California. They crashed and rolled several times. Two were killed immediately, the rest were injured, 11 required hospitalization, 3 were in critical condition.

One van crash is going to cost the taxpayers approximately 3/4 of a million dollars of health care. Depending on the length of care and depending if our system is obligated to rehabilitate those with serious injuries, these costs could go up dramatically.

There are between 11 million and 20 million illegal aliens in our country. This means that the majority of them do not have health insurance. Can you imagine the financial impact on our economy, let alone our health care services?
