The other day I started to watch the video on the Internet. I saw Nick introduce himself and I listened to some of the Islamic speech, but I couldn't go through with it. I was curious about it, but the horror and reality was too much to bear. I knew what happened, but to actually see it was something I decided I didn't need in my memory.

So who has and hasn't watched the video and why?

We Built This City' ranks as the worst record ever

Mon Apr 19, 6:42 AM ET

We Built This City is the single worst single ever constructed, according to Blender's ranking of reeking tunes.

The magazine's list of "The 50 Worst Songs Ever," which hits newsstands Tuesday in New York and Los Angeles and April 27 nationwide, distills the lamest popular rock-era records into one sonic landfill.

Starship's 1985 anthem, the runaway No. 1 stinker, "seems to inspire the most virulent feelings of outrage," editor Craig Marks says. "It purports to be anti-commercial but reeks of '80s corporate-rock commercialism. It's a real reflection of what practically killed rock music in the '80s."

Yea usa music has sucked major arse ever since the 80's hair bands went out. The dam record companies and the media make sure that only what they want will sell...if u dont fit into that category then u might as well move to another country than to try to make it as a musician in america.....BASTIDS (no offense az...welll....mb a little :) ) the us has the talent.....shame

Great britian, italy, france, japan, finland, netherlands, germany

These countries REALLY know talent

@Bolo and Lauryn

Stop bashing the USA and our music. No other country has more talent and musical roots than America. Have either of you ever heard of Marconi? Have either of you ever been to San Francisco?

Let me fill you in:

Marconi plays the mamba. Listen to the radio. Don't you remember? We built this city. We built this city on rock an' roll!

How the hell does Cotton Eye Joe get on that list?

Greatest song ever!

If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe

I'd been married long time ago

Where did you come from where did you go

Where did you come from Cotton-Eye Joe

Songs that truly do not belong on this list:

48. The Beatles Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

42. Simon and Garfunkel The Sounds of Silence

35. R.E.M. Happy Shiny People

26. The Doors The End

I have long since burned out on "Ob-La-Di" to the point that I skip it everytime I listen to The White Album , especially since it became "Corky's" theme song.

Bo, Kurt Cobain went in and Poison et al went out. The genre of the 'hair bands' ceased to exist primarily because of lack of fan support (ie record sales, ratio station arbitrons, posters on kids bedroom walls lol, etc). For the most part record companies just put out what kids want or appear to.

Back on topic: All I can say is ditto to Tank Girl's post way up top.

:( Indeed
