That very well may be the best sumation yet. When I make comments like that I speak for myself and nobody else. I'm referring to my time, I have been trying to reinvent the game for myself and I seem to be hitting the same roadblocks.
Some people are happily content. Personally I'm a bit different, I need to feel progression. When it feels to me there's really nowhere to progress, I want to leave all this behind.
Unfortunatley I believe I do suffer from some degree of Internet addiction.
I think your right about it being a generational thing. I don't believe TT2 will be out in time to keep many vets interest. That's just a timing issue, nothing more.
Back in the day you had 187, Max cr, and Repent kicking out the mods. They kicked it up a notch, I'm sorry I never got to see some them myself.
Dash, Monkeeman, Triv, Roo, KBC, Neva, Joren, CB, Sheena, Dazzle Pharm, have all elevated map making as well.
In my honest opinion, Dazzle is the one to watch for the future. Dazzle has not been here long enough to be burnt out yet. My only fear is Dazzle will soon realize the limitations of the game and then reflect on what he has done, and more important, what he COULD DO.
The torch will again be passed.

THis reminds me of Rabbans thread of too many maps. There are great mods out there that arent popular with the crowd. Mods keep this game alive. I would rather be waiting for a download then playing on the original maps over and over again.
When napalm said "Personally I'm a bit different, I need to feel progression. When it feels to me there's really nowhere to progress, I want to leave all this behind." I thought about ppl hindering thinktanks. Some I have heard of and were banned from ptt....I believe Chong was one of the worst. Altho I have been playing the game and been on PTT for only 4 months I have seen many stupid acts done by some really dumb ppl who cannot take a hint.
^ chong is more of a myth than anything else
...played with him lots and he always seemed quite likable, just went a bit crazy sometimes
Napalm words are too kind, however I dont see myself as trying to make a mark, I just got some ideas and want to have a go a making them a reality. Indeed I have some new stuff comming and when its out I hope players like it, ineviatbly not everyone will thats what makes the world go round. Its a long road and there are times when I just dont feel like doing anything technical at all, just play the game. I do understand some of the vets frustrations with the limitations of TT and looking down the line I suppose I may feel like that at some point, but for now I enjoy my modding, the community, the people I have made friends with and some funny crazy times in game. Yes I do like to mod and mess with things and believe in pushing things as far as I can, perhaps Fishtank is right in saying that new dedicated players and community members are whats needed, this may even inspire the vets who are feeling it once again. I have really enjoyed my time so far on TT/PTT and have learnt a lot whilst modding and being involved with this game.
When I started to play I promised myself that I would not get into the modding thing ( I know what I am like ), but as Blitzer said I too became bored of the same 4 maps over and over again and wanted to make some things that were a little bit outside of the box, so far I hope I have done that and will continue to do so. Having spent hours in front of this screen learning TGE, some scripting, Milkshake, 3D Max, some Photoshop and a few other programms I realise now more than ever the effort and dedication of people in this community that admin PTT, make maps, host servers, collate / host expansion and mod packs, run the leagues, make skins and do general great things for everyone involved.
This is not a complaint just a bug bear of mine. Yes there are quite a few new maps about at the moment and I understand that getting the mod packs and expansion packs takes time, but how many players have actually made the effort to get the packs and check them out? I personally make a point of trying to visit every new mod that comes out no matter how good or bad it maybe, by doing this I feel that I am supporting other people who have taken the time to make something for us TT players. I visited a mod the other day by Cool called something about long tracks, was it good not really but the tanks treads were so long my tank was in the clouds whilst still on the ground, man I LMAO - thats what makes TT for me.
Over recent months I have discovered that there are a load of players who never really play in the "normal servers" they just play mods, how great is that!!! Perhaps more of us should do this in order to get more variety, see new terrains, meet new people and see the wonderful work that is being produced by the young as well as the old.
If this sounds to good to be true here are a few recommendations from completely different aspects:
1. Any of Napalms X-Pack 4 Mods - you have to see Molten Magna Wasteland and Surely Temple to believe it, the screenies just dont do them justice AT ALL, incredible and beautiful terrain with some fantastic new objects and emitters (love that lava stuff!!)
2. Check out T-Bone's mods - He keeps himself to himself but his race tracks and CTF mods are great fun, they are scripted, well designed, well thought out and always busy servers. I played a map the other day which was 2 games in one!!! A great island terrain team scrum on the inside with a scripted racetrack all around the island beach!! Ever seen that before? Thought not....................
Is the end near? Maybe maybe not, its just down to personal preference. If stock maps are your thing thats cool, if modding is your thing thats cool, if getting as much out of TT and PTT is your thing thats cool - in fact for me, and I guess an fair few other TT'ers everything is just cooler than the gang - just wish I had more time................

I have a challenge for modders that might spice things up a little : create the perfect maps. I don't mean pretty flowers or tree bark, but totally about gameplay. In scrum, there should be 500 ways to score. Every arrow, bouncepad, tree, rock, knoll, etc, should help you score. GQ is on the right track with adding and subtracting from the stock lush maps. The game is fast-paced and camping and fb's are less relevant. Banshee had this to say about bm:
Someone should mod a map that is compact and doesn't stray too far from the stock lush, fast and simple. Make the same map, but in three versions, one fairly wide open, that favors a heavy, one with lots of small, rolling hills and a few objects that favors a light and one with a few hills, maybe one higher than the rest and more objects that favors a light. No power-ups, and maybe two or three ammo gates so there is no fighting over re-loads. Then hosted in rotation. I was going to ask fix if he could do this and give a try at hosting it. Nice thing is for a 1-1 or 2-2 map there shouldn't be much need for admins, least I hope not.
I don't know much about bm, sounds good to me though.
^^ Watz T-s track called again?
Who says I can't be 12 and faster than all of you?
Heck, I'm a vet, and I agree with you fish tank XD
**..::I am thoroughly...

In my opinion of you have to add a bunch of pads to the stock maps doesn't that make the stock maps weak in the first place? I mean, that means that the maps need help.
If my 1972 Nova gets some thrush mufflers and a new Holly carb, does that mean it's not the same 1972 Nova?
Doesn't stray too far from the stock lush
Just more "lush" by force. About 2 to 3 games and I'm alll lushed out. Man you people are tollerant. I hope I never see another Lush map til I'm dead.
It's rare you'll see maps like bologna Pony, or Dash's new one (the name escapes me right now.)
Same old, same old
That mod request was for a simple, clean 1 on 1 server for people to jump into for a quick game. The logic is that a simple map would give a clean, fast game, not bogged down by 40 objects and flame throwers and anyone could jump without needing additional files. It doesn't need to be pretty, there are plenty to chose from for regular games for that. If people don't like it, they won't use it, but there have been some requests for a server of this type.
I've seen frantic mods and tons of lush mods....GIMME DA SPOOKY MODS!!! @_@
...that is all. B)

Upon locking a PG-13 thread, Napalm made the topic title comment. The end of what? TT? PTT? There's been alot of jibber-jabber about how people no longer enjoy the game, the future of TT, yada yada. Most, if not all of this talk is from the long time vets. Speaking as someone who is fairly new to this little world, I don't feel the same. I'm completely satisfied with every aspect of the game and this website, just like these vets were 4 years ago. Perhaps we don't need TT2 yet, just a new generation of TTers.
