I agree, scrum is good! But Isn't dashes a tbm server?
Looks like you played with the dancers

@Rabban
Hey thanks for the kind words. It was a lot of fun playing with you. I felt so bad whenever we stopped you from scoring at the last possible moment in that big old clunker you had! You were a good sport and made it interesting. We never see heavies in scrum anymore. I remember a player named DARK (HU) that was awesome in a heavy in scrum. He camped very well. Bertha was good too. I remember MysteryMan myself and others having a fun scrum battle against heavies!
You're right about Memphis! I called him a Show off when he not only flew into the goal from a launch pad over several defenders but he added his patented full-twist! I love that kind of stuff and try to add style points to every goal I score (fail sometimes of course)!
@Bloop
Dash also has a great team scrum server. We enjoy Roos' ts server too!

Alright, Rabban! I wish I had been there to see.
I can't find a game I like as much as scrum. Every time I think I've figured about as much of the game out as I can, some other little thing comes to mind and improves my game. Shooting, driving, defense, positioning, anticipating other players, using the terrain for air time, finding good cover on a run... It all keeps on and on. (I don't think I'm done with it yet...)
Jeez it looks like you got schooled by some of the best. I'm sorry I missed that round. Memphis does somehow always end up in the goal no matter how hard you try to stop him and he has shown me that flying twist several times on the shockwave servers.
By the way, GQ.Shooter has started hosting some good Team Scrum games!
Last night we had players like Magenta, Demoliton (out of retirement!), MKIV and more!!!
Fun stuff!!!
Who is vendetta red? He was very good!
That was a fun night of scrum. I admit, I changed Rabban into the light as it was painful to watch. Sort of like Oprah in the NY marathon. Hope to see you in the mix again, rabban. Show off? Me? Oh alright...I guess I should have been a snowboarder.
^ GQ's scrum gets two thumbs up. I have yet to have a bad game there.
Heh, the order of my "transformation".
Heavy
Baby UFO
Medium
Light
I do hope I made some sort of contribution to the game, but I did have to apologize for mistaking a team member (Roots?) for the opposition and knocking the scrum off his tank with a block. Bad, Rabban, bad! Dem lights is hard to drive too, at least for me. Is there a driving school server?
Glad you came Rabban. Scrum is a fun game with a lot of nuance and subtlety to it. I think teamwork is more important in scrum than in tbm and I like that.
If your team is down a man the difference is huge in scrum, whereas in tbm you can get by. On those bad gun nights you can still make a team contribution
by blocking, running, and passing well which is nice. It will take a while to get your bearings but that makes the game fun and new again.
This is the reason I have been hosting team scrum the last week or so. Dash has set an example of how to have an awesome server that has the best games and fun for all.
Even as a heavy (Rabban) I want to try to get together a team of girls to play a team of guys either in Dash, Roos, or my server. Not sure there are enough girls to make this possible. I watch in amazement the way you guys fly into the scrum goal and the way you have the team concept down to a science or even an art. Last night we had alot of great players in my server that I went into obs just for the fact of watching was more fun then playing. It was just awesome. Thanks Dash and Roo and all the other hosters who do such a great job.
Dash, I've been meaning to thank you for lowering the max players to 8. The games have been manyfold better of late. Much appreciated.
Hey gq.. Im more than willing to dress up in girls clothes and put on makeup to join you. Im sure noone'll notice..
I must agree, the team scrum I've been playing lately has been intense! Some great games with some true legends of the game :) and then some. Games in Roo's and MonkeeMods have been fun, havn't found my way to Dash's yet, but hey..i'll find my way there :P
Truely bin fun
Cpt
Hey, I enjoyed last night, too, Rabban. Thanks for listing me in with all those great players. I feel important. :) Hope we can do it again soon.
Oh, and sorry about that first goal I stole from you. Hope we're cool there. ;)
Uh uhh, I need to go a therapy I was sure that this would have been a ironical thread. How could I have thought something like that from Rabban. ;)
You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.
Dark Angel, Monica, and GQ would make pretty tough ladie's team.
@Fish
Don't forget about Sheena. She can run well. There's also PiP (Pretty in Pink). And TankGirl...er...nevermind that one!
I agree with Tally about the huge difference it makes when it's 4 on 4 Team Scrum as opposed to 5 on 5 (nevermind 6 on 6 as it is sometimes on GQ's). Less is more in indie or team scrum. We need room to move.
Heck, even in 3 on 3 there are some who need even more room to move (napalm and nuts)...lol.
I laughed silly recently whenever Nuts scored for us he wouldn't say GJT or NB, no sir, he instead would say "Thanks for moving!" because we kind of got in his way. Nappy has done the same. They had valid points too. It is so frustrating when your own teammates get in your way of scoring. Happened last night to me a few times. I don't mind a teammate coming out to take the scrum from me (even when I KNOW I can score) as long as they score! It burns my biscuits when they team steal or knock it loose and we don't get the score. Must be decisive.
Don't forget about Sheena. She can run
Away
Well
I understand we bump, people get disoriented. I seem to have a hablit of bouncing off all of the elements in game. It happens to everyone. I get steamed when there are too many people in the game, and nuckleheads are repeatedly either in the goal, or between you and the goal. Yes, we all gather near the goal trying to bump, block, steal the scrum.
But really, how the hell is someone going to "go to the hole" if you're sitting samck in the middle of it? Hhhmm? Hhmm?
I really do think the maximum limit for a good scrum game is 5 players per team. 3 would be good on the smaller maps of late, but typically 4 per team seems like a nice balance between room to run, and server performance issues.
@Nap
Well said. Agree totally. Don't just sit there...(use observer if are a lurker) either come get the rock or move out the way or clear the path with a block or gunfire!!! Not rocket science stuff here, folks. :)
If your going to block someone keep them on the other side of the gaol, but that means you need to leave enough room for yourself to be on the outside too.
Again patience on the scrum runner goes a long way.
@GQ: no idea you were a girl! You look just like Tally! Girl scrummer team: GQ,PiP,Sheena,Monica? I think Rogue may actually be a girl too. Get him to fess up and he'll be a real asset on an all girl scrum team
Although PIP had had long-term reliability issues. She's most likely the best female to play the game, PERIOD.
Sheena, Dark Angel, Monica, Dr. Sawbones all good players. GQ is on the rise, doing very well as of late.
PIP can take weeks off and come back and top the game as if she hasn't been gone. Too bad she doesn't have the dedication, or bad habit of playing regularly. :(

Aw, Rabban! You should've stayed with the heavy! It is really a good tank for scrum; I've scored 3 points in a heavy on multiple occasions :P. The only problem is that people BM you a lot more.
Speaking of BM, why don't I ever see you in any of the TBM servers?
If your going to block someone keep them on the other side of the gaol, but that means you need to leave enough room for yourself to be on the outside too.
Oh so true. I messed up a game for my team this week by getting in the way. The scrum got bumped to the other team, and they won at the last second. I was trying to block, but got in the way. I still feel embarrassed about it. (I'll do better next time...)
@Player36 - I did manage to score a few until the masters came in. The thing is, I'm not a camper. I just don't like it and I think its a cheap way to play, letting someone else do all the work only to steal their glory in the final moments (though this is a valid last minute move if you've been in the field as well). I prefer to be in the action, bouncing around, blocking, firing and assisting anyway I can. The thing that's always held me back is my lack of mastery in driving the light. The dang thing drives me crazy!
I've been busy with other stuff and I'd lost my taste for TBM for awhile, but I have been sneaking into TBM servers lately. I was looking for one last night, but they were mostly mods that I had to download (and I have Nap's X-Pac installed) and I was getting sick of it. I didn't want to sit, but play! I joined a scrum server by accident and now I think I'm hooked.
:). I look forward to your further education :).
I've seen a few skilled bmer's come over to scrum, and be cluless. They'll drive around forever with the scrum, shoot at some chasers, and forget that the objective is to score goals. It's amazing how different the two game types are. The bmers first insinct is to kill and aviod being killed, while a scrummer can only think score, score, score. I can relate, though. I am completely clueless when it comes to bm. I've seen a few that are good at both, and are nearly unstoppable. Hanksta, Big Show, Magenta, The Professor, to name a few.

@All,
I have been trying differant combinations of the amount of ppl in the scrum server at one time. First I did 8 then 10 and this week 12. Although lag was never an issue what so ever. 12 Is just to many to have anything other then battlemode scrum. 10 can be as bad when there players not familiar with the game. 8 is perfect for fast high scoring games. This is true of scrum or team scrum (in my opinion) So my games will now only allow 8 players in the scrum or team scrum games.Unless it is a battle set up by teams wishing more players for there war.
@ Dash,
Not sure if thats an insult or not.

Scrummers do go the other way. I've been kindof gettin into BM now days although scrum got me hooked on the game. I kind of like the power of the heavy and charging the enemy guns ablazing. I don't think it has helped my Indie scrum much but I think that I am a better teammate on team scrum now.
Rabban, you can get used to the light tank just remember that corners are it's weakness and anticipate. And don't worry if you end up kissing a rock or a tree, we all do it (some of us way... Way... Too much). Bouncing around in random directions is part of the fun. The best goals are when you manage to bounce your way off of something and score a goal.... Then you can claim it's all skill. XD
Played a little indy madness tonight, just to get a feel for the light and *trying* to score. What a night!
There is certainly a cerebral aspect to scrum, especially when it comes to projecting your ricochet physics in a light, calculating those bump intercepts to steal, and driving backwards to score. I enjoy the levels of play you have to engage in to be successful. Awesome!
Definitely getting hooked.

You have no chioce. Now you're a scrum junky, and you'll need your daily fix. How hard was your heart beating after you scored that backwards goal, while weaving through campers? N1
Ah great to have another heavy aboard the scrum express! It's been long since I've seen one wreck havoc on the hapless lights in indy scrum. Last time I saw one was when there was Dark and Bertha. If I'm correct, Dark was a master of scrum in both light and heavy tanks. Dark was even able to gain points as a heavy, even when he wasn't camping! 8o Yes, many Bmers have gone to the lands of scrum after TBM has really gone down the meter, which is why I play scrum now more often :P. Hope you become the master heavy/light scrummer Rabban!
-AO
That's another whippersnapper belted by the feared AncientOne!
^ doh 8o
@AO - Right now I'm learning to use the light since I want to be in the game rather than driving from point to point while everyone else scurries around the scrum. I think I need to lay down the heavy mantel for a bit and do everything different. I think its time for a cool change...
@AO
I mentioned those two earlier in this thread (Dark and Bertha). Glad you remembered them too.
They were fun to play. Helped skills a lot when it came to beating campers.
Rabban, good choice as you will miss a lot from the scrum game if you're driving as a heavy. I'm talking about what you can do in a light compared to the heavy.
You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.
@GQ, not intended as an insult, sorry if it came out that way. A lot of girls choose names which make it clear they are girls, its the only way we would know. GQShooter doesn't ring feminine to me and the tanks we all drive are gender neutral so you really do look like tally and me and rabban,...
@dash,
LOL I get what you meant now.
I choose GQSHOOTER because the magazine GQ Is about goodlooking guys and is a magazine women like to look at for the guys. So I have come to find out that alot of the guys here have never heard of that magazine. Also this name was givin to me by guys from another pc tank game who said I only killed good looking guys. Which they all thought they could pose for GQ (The Magazine). And if our tank skins could be seen by all, you would see I have a pink and purple tank with Girl Power on the sides of it. I know you was not insulting me, it is all in fun. GIRL POWER RULES.....

Wait, wait wait. GQ is a woman's magazine? I don't think this looks like a woman's magazine (though I suppose women are included). ;)
Page : <1> :
I have to admit, I have a new appreciation for the game.
Last night, I bumbled into Dash's server and tried my hand (in a heavy, of course). It was going OK, but then the giants of the game began to appear and it was awesome! Its really something to see those guys score with such grace and skill. I can't help but think some were showboating a little (<cough>, Memphis), but instead of falling at the finish line, these fellas flew through the goals with 6 feet of ground clearance and plenty of style points. Truely wonderful to watch.
I also appreciate the fact that they were kind to me, being a relative scrum noob (though I eventually found myself transformed into a light) they didn't hassle me with text (though the chatter was sweet), but taught by example. Great job, guys!
The list?
Memphis
Rogue
Reagent X
Dash
Perseus
Paisano
(and some others I can't remember, sorry).
