SerialKilla inspired this thread with his longing for the good old days of battlemode.

This is for the old timers of TT.. What do you miss about the game?
What are some things you DON'T miss and are glad are gone?

I'll start:

I remember when....You barely had to press the spacebar in a scrum game! (Now I constantly press it thanks to all you incredibly gifted BMers playing scrum!!!

I remember when....There were only one or two DEMO's screwing up a game... Now there are entire servers full! (p.s. It's a good thing actually for the future of TT).

I remember when.... There was only one camper or diver in a scrum game. Now it's the other way around!!! There might be one player who doesn't camp or dive!

I remember when....Players used to be polite and always greeted anyone who entered a game with warm hello's. I know this is a result of the transformance of scrum when it became BattleScrum because of the massive integration of former battlemode players who never got into the habit of using friendly greetings. It's not a slam just an observation many have made. BMers seemed to stay in war mode where as scrummers were usually laid back and happy go lucky types. Not anymore. It's a blood sport these days...and loads of fun still.

I remember when....There were only a couple of armies. Now there's a new one every day!

I remember when....there was only one idiot who kept BMing you during scrum for no reason at all the entire game and his name was either DEMO (ATTACK!) or JFDNY! Now just about everyone is playing like DEMO ATTACK or JFDNY in indie scrum (only with some scrumming skills!)!!!

The tanks fired shells, not laser beams, and laughing....a lot.

I remember when...CTF was new and you could see Cat, Lone, and a couple other people playing.
I remember when...Leopard might actually be in his Lair.
I remember when CTF was at the top of the list!
Hmmm...I remember the "Recent Donations" thread being at the top of the page, even before it was bumped...
Or at least I think I do...haven't been here very long, so I'm gonna check the dates on those to see if I actually do remember them...

When players agreed to play scrum without shooting. They called it "PeaceScrum".

Maybe a server where the bullets have 1/10th of the usual effect would recreate it...

I remember when...we used to not have stars under are avatars...Now we do!

Oh and I just noticed I'm the only one in this thread without 5 of them!

I remember when... Repent had some of the most kick@$$ servers around

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

@LGM "Peace Scrum" that was fun. On a shockwave server no less. Would love to do again sometime. But what a high scoring game. Camping should be legal in that game though.

I remember BM'ing Chong and JFDNY all game in Indie. It was so much fun to them smoking really good and then finish them off when they got the scrum. Now there's so many to chose from that it just looses the thrill somehow.

Famous phrase- "wanna be a spark?"

I was a pretty new player, but I think I got asked 8 or 9 times.

@LGM
LOL...yep..I remember that too! Also, "Can you make me a mod?" ????
or seeing demo's and noobs typing /codes on a public SW server over and over again!!!

Here's one thing I wish would go away forever... Tanty and his annoying clones (demo homework) who kill any good scrum game by playing keep away and cliff hanging and diving!!! So sick of "It tickles!"!!!! Argh!!!!

I remember when there were about 12 people that knew how to mod, and you could choose to play a standard game or a modded game. Now they're all [poorly] modded games.

I remember...

... Being a noob.
... Playing scrum as a demo in a medium (and winning).
... When bots was stoopid.
... "Gonads and strife" and saying "Wheeeee".
... When Tankgirl was a girl.
... Killer77 and Quitter.
... Knowing who the veteran players where and they were all awesome and cool.
... My first season of TBML and being all, "Gee, I get to play?".
... Mods were the standard maps with only the objects changed.
... It being about the game, not the politics.
... When playing TT was almost magical.
