The first page seems on the right track, but he looses me once he gets to the suggested rewards. 401k's?? Flex time?? Employee handbooks?!?! No, those will not be effective. What managers will really need to keep this "Nintendo Generation" working hard is periodic emails that say, "Thank you, Mario! But our princess is in another castle!"
Up until last year we owned a business
The prospective employee pool was basically "pearls in swine"
Most and I do mean most of these young ppl didn't even know how to sweep the
floor!!! I can relate fully to the article and am astounded at (never thought I'd be old
enough to say this) the next generations workhabits and discipline. Not all don't get me wrong
but most are only proficient at avoiding any real work. If it aint interenting why do it?
Well pride in the quality of your work!
Well contributing something positive to the effort!
Well earning the respect of your peers - dependability!
Well advancing long term goals - upward mobility
Well Lemme say this to all who care to read this
"From the time we are concieved until the time we pass on we are here in this reality to
learn and to grow as beings. Thats the plan. The only plan! Grow or wither! Reach out and up
and feel the light on your face. Give 100% to everything you do! We only get what we ask for
Those who complain and dont try are in a void of their own choosing!
Choose something positive for yourself and those you love"

k I put the soapbox away = my2 cents
It's fairly simple here:
The carrot - a paycheck that clears their bank.
The stick - the unemployment line.
One thing I am rather amazed at...the number of younger folks who expect to make 50-100k a year almost immediately....everybody wants to be a manager...until they find out the responsibilities that come with it
I just thought his position that the Nintendo Generation needs constanst affirmation was incredibly astute.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.
Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.
Good article. It is sad how unelightened my company is about this! It is performance review time and we've got it all backwards. "Keep the people down" is more like what it's like at work.
However, I would dispute the finding:
In fact, reinforcement occurs up to 100 times a minute.
I have done my own measurements and I would say the number is more like 93.25. ;)

This article kinda made me laugh. See if you find the same correlation to TT that I did.
