I've run a server on my iMac connected via airport to a Linksys router/access point. I hosted a team scrum game. Around the seventh player, we started experiencing lag. When an 8th joined, the lag became unplayable. I do see my server twice in the server list. Just pick the one with the lowest ping rate.
I'm not sure what causes servers to show up several times in the server list. I've seen others do that, but the few times I've hosted, mine only shows up twice in the list. I only had the iMac running through the router when I hosted a game.
I know some of the others are hosting off Macs but I don't know if they are wireless or hard wired. One of them might have run into the problem you are seeing. Hopefully, they'll see this thread and post a reply.

I never noticed the duplicate listing until this last weekend (cornfield in Iowa). I'm running a router but I'm not wireless. I don't think it ever happened before this weekend.

Has anyone using a Mac on a wireless connection created a server? I am afraid to try due to the multiple times I have seen several of the same servers always hosted on a Mac. I have had severe lag in game and on-line recently, even when others have not, which I finally tracked down to my router. This made me wonder if the multiple servers, which did happen to me the sole time I tried to make one a few months back, may not be related. A past post implied that the duplicates were on the server end, but why always the same machines? There are (2) other machines using the same router here, maybe related? Any input would be helpful, even though it is rare that I would create a server it would be nice to know I could without a dozen more showing up.
Thanx.
