I'd like to add more of our suggestions for new features that we'd like to see in some future release of ThinkTanks.
Here is the link to the master list that I've compiled from several threads on here about new ideas: TT wishlist

Here are some new ideas I had:

A new powerup called the GoalSpawner that would come in handy whenever someone had a freebie and you were on the other side of the map. You would instantly appear in the goal in time to defend the freebie! Yeah, it call also be called the InstantCamper... But I like GoalSpawner.

Your health status should be restored to full health whenever you score or kill someone who was carrying the flag.
It can't be for killing anyone as in survivor because battlemoders would dominate scrum!!!

The Ring of Fire! Bring back the ring of fire that would prevent camping!

@ pai

I love that GoalSpawn Powerup idea, that would rock!
As for the health, I agree...when you score you should be auto-healed. But as for when you kill someone with the flag...that would be ok I guess.
THE RING OF FIRE! Now thats something I havent seen since I first started this game...why was that removed? WE NEED THAT BACK!!!!! So YES put that in TT2!!!!!!!!

PokoMalo, if you read this bring up pai's ideas to the review board won't ya? They sound good to me!

I HIGHLY agree with everything that's been said thus far Goal Spawner would be an awesome power-up. Restoring your health after a goal should definitely be included as well. I'm not so sure about killing the person with the flag though, that'd totally ruin the "train" attacks;
When your driving behind someone, that's right behind the ball carrier and headed towards the goal, you have to shoot up the second person in the train rather then the ball carrier. That way when the second person takes out the ball carrier, you take him out and pick it up. If they got restored health then you would have to light em up all over again which isn't ful at all :)

Id like to see some different camera modes, like rear view and the ability to pan/tilt...

Agree pretty much with what others have said, especially would like to bring back that 'ring of fire.' :)

Ben

Think about it... Do you all really want to change the way you play, the game you've got used to, for some novelties? Event's camera mode suggestion is a solid idea that wouldn't actually change gameplay but the Ring of Fire would completely alter the game and IMHO ruin it. People want it because they don't want campers, but no one who wants it seems to see what would happen to team and solo scrum games with a tank killing ooze around the goal. An interesting mod maybe but not a permanent feature. Alterations to basic gameplay would really suck. At least for me.

Friday, December 03, 2004 at 8:49:10 PM

^ Agreement. TT2, if it were to happen, should focus on physics, gameplay, and technical refinements, not snap-on concepts that would alter gameplay - the best part of the game - for no apparent reason.

Friday, December 03, 2004 at 9:20:15 PM

I agree: not too many changes to affect gameplay. The subleties in team scrum for example are so deep and intricate that it is still a subject of continual fascination for me. To be able to 'communcate' with other teammates with your 'body language' (style of play) in a cartoon tank is a really amazing feat!

Somehow I suspect it will be awhile. While we're waiting I think many of the better Mods offer some freshness.

Perhaps some better camera angles you can set.

Weather effects maybe? Like rain, snow, wind, etc? And actually make it where it effects the tanks handling. Like..with wind, if you're in the air, depending on the strength and direction, you'll be pulled slightly that way. With rain, your traction may be weakened. With snow, I suppose the same. Ice..even worse traction.

Ring of fire? Hm..not sure. Never seen it. Care to explain it?

Im working on GoalSpawn, Health, and Ring of Fire, ok?

Health is FINISHED! If you have Tank2.cs (get it in Files), put

%killer.hurtMe(-100);

At the end of the tankdata::onDestroyed function in it.

Heres an idea.. Tally or someone brought up that the less health we had the more crippled our tank looked. It would be cool if I shot someone a few times and their tank was getting marked with explosion ashes, treads getting torn, etc. But I think it would be even better if the tank's brain exploded from the tank instead of being ejected.

Friday, December 03, 2004 at 10:49:37 PM

LOL Sasuke u just forgot something that will heal team killers! Lol its bit more complicated just to heal normal killers and kill team killers... Lol I know how to...

Friday, December 03, 2004 at 11:06:21 PM

It would be cool if your tank dies when you shoot the tank brain

Well, the RoF could be tweaked so as not to change the gameplay - except for campers.

Have the RoF start damaging a tank in the vicinity of the goal after a certain period (6 seconds or so) of in motional-inactivity (i.e. Moving forwards, backwards etc...not just moving the aiming reticle)

This wont totally remove campers, but will make camping very undesirable for them, as they will have to tap a key every 6 seconds or so...Eventually, they'll get tired of doing that and will start playing correctly.

The idea here is to make camping less desirable, as it will require active input from the camper.

On the other hand, campers arent a total 'evil,' they're almost an integral part of just about every scrum game because they're so common...

What do you guys think?

Monday, December 06, 2004 at 12:09:14 AM

I think you look like captain crunch..... I mean I like to camp I mean I like campers I mean I like bertha campa.... I mean hmmmm have the ring of fire turn on every 10 seconds...

Pray to GOD for him to reveal himself to you.

I really like this idea I had. I wish there was a way to create a waiting list for very busy servers so that you can actually go and play on another server while the server is full but when someone leaves you get instantly taken out of your current server and log onto the server that you wanted to play on. Either that or device a way so that you get notified while playing... You would see a message on your screen that says something like, "RX team scrum server has a slot open at this time" or "Roosters ScruMOD now has an opening".

I think zeonic is on the most promising track.

Yikes. That was a long time ago.
EventH: The game polices itself. Z messed around with a goal deterrent system a while back.
It doesn't work, it's unnecessary, and it adds complexity without reason.
Think about what makes the game so good.
It's pure man, its like water you spend 2 bucks a bottle on.
let it be. Fix the packaging, make the bottle more comfortable in my hand, but don't make it cherry flavor.

Monday, December 06, 2004 at 3:07:32 AM

^Aye, thats a good one.

Maybe also a 'demo bumper' for us registered players...

Monday, December 06, 2004 at 3:08:20 AM

Yea and the goal wuld have a sign that said this

Monday, December 06, 2004 at 6:27:19 AM

Maybe some more game modes?

Maybe sports ex football, soccer, baseball where ur tank cannon is the bat, hockey has been made ( good job to all those hoo made it it kicks ass, except u cant use the stick :( )

KILLER idea... But it would probably cause major lag in BM servers, not that it doesn't already exist, but for people with slower internet (namely me) that would horrendously increase lag, even in scrum servers.

Monday, December 06, 2004 at 6:46:05 AM

Also to add to my more game modes comment, maybe these game modes instead:

1. Kill the man with the ball(scrum)- when a player picks up the scrum, a timer will show up next to their name in the standings counting down from 10 to 0, once it reaches 0, they get a point.

2. Hide and seek- Basically hide and seek but in TT. Also the players dont appear on your radar so its more challenging. And wen you find someone they have to help look with you.

3. Racing

Those are all the modes I could think of right now.

Also another neat thing in TT 2 would be if some one used a skin you'd be able to see it, along with everyone elses.

Just my 2 cents :)

This idea could be a variation of TS not the standard. After a goal is scored all tanks are wiped out and spawn in the middle of the map in a line facing each other. The scrum ball would then spawn in the center of the map between the two sides. This would put an end to all free goals. I think you might have to change the name to rugby though.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Your health status should be restored to full health whenever you score

I had the health goal idea implemented a while back in my mods but it occasionally led to some outrageous and unbalanced scores. I also added a special weapon reward for scoring a goal. That worked well and didn't affect the play too much, but did give that person a little something extra to help them after a hard fought goal. I also added a penalty weapon for campers. If somone were to be sitting in the goal without the flag they would be penalized with a crappy weapon. This kept the players outside of the rings.

ANyone who ever played Myth has experienced game interface perfection.

When going online in THink Tanks you are placed in an online chat room and chatting with other players. There is a list of current games and their pings and time remaining are showing. You can see several servers at a time and simply click on the gae you want to join and you can be in the queue.

You can also see people's variable login name or if impostering is in question, check there account login name... Which would give them away.

All of the problems with TT have been solved before by someone else on another game.

Something else. Perhaps have a game lobby with a chat? This way, when you go to the online page, you can actually chat with people and see who else is online. This may help in setting up team games with people you actually want in there.

Roger that snipe.

I think it would be interesting if you could fumble the ball if you were to hit an object (rock, tree, reload gate, etc.) hard enough.

A linux PPC version that will work on Macs.

I'd like to see power ups that make your tank stronger shield and projectile for a short period, also heat seaking missiles, and
make it so your teamates can't kill you (team killing) and a negative counter for kills.what should be done is if you team kill you get killed or lose a kill point

My list of fav ideas for TT2:

Maybe-s
- A universally modular admin system

For sure
- New tank models, only like edits to fit the attitude
- Make medium more usefull
- Maybe some more areas for maps (snowy, etc)
- Having like right click in scrum be pass (I got a few ideas on the client/server interface on this)
- Damage markings, bullet marks, blast marks, etc
- Some more powerups
- Lobby chat (TGELobby maybe?)

New Gametypes
- Team Hunters (Shameless plug, check out my version, I'll be hosting... Tomorrow :))
- Racing
- Actually, no new gametypes, or us scripters will have nothing to do :)

Hehe ;) but seriously, I think tally is right, make the game LOOK better, don't alter the game, but how about open sourcing some more of the scripts to make it easier for scripters satisfy the community? Sounds like a scripters view, I know - but it would be delightful to have access to more of the server side scripts to help the communities needs with...

-Ranking system
-Store where you can buy certain items
-Customize your tank
-Map editor
-Weapon cycling
-Power ups I have listed on other threads(find them if you can)
-Atmosphereic conditions that effect your tank(snow, lightning, rain, etc.)
-Wildlife
-Bonuses that effect your score(how many times you killed, were killed, how you killed, and such)
-Terrain effects (quick sand, lava flows, bodies of water, and terrain being destroyed when shot or blown up)
And much much more!

About the Demo bumper... Check the Modding Resource, and you'll see my (very old) concept for that, too... Thanks, Max!

I have an idea, although it may have been thought of already:
Capture the Flag, although not like the one we are familiar with.
There would be a line in the center of the map and two teams on each side. Each team's flag would be randomly placed on the terrain. The object was to steal the opponents flag and return it to the other side. If someone on the green team managed to sneak in and steal the blue team's flag, it would alert other members of the green team but not the blue team. Also, if a person on the green team shoots at a blue from on their side, it will not damage them. It will only hurt them if a person from the blue team crosses the line into their territory. They will then have to blow him up before the opponent reaches his home side. The same goes for the blue side. And, if you go into enemy territory, you can't damage an opponent.
If you are destroyed, you spawn across from the trench and onto the mountains surrounding the field, separated by the trench of death. If you wanted to get a friend out of "jail," you need to shoot them from your opponent's side of the field. If you shoot them from your side of the field, it doesn't count. Once your bullet hits your member in jail, they die and respawn on your side of the field. The team with the most points at the end of the round wins.
(They might want to make it so that 20 people can join the server so it would be a larger server)
Any comments?

Or Steal the Bacon?
