I'm not meaning to offend ANYONE WHATSO EVER!

Is this world coming to an end? Do the creatations not know the creator? Come on guys... Why say "Merry X-Mas" or "Happy Holidays" or even "Season's Greetings" when you can just say, "Merry Christmas"??!!! Yes, I said CHRIST ! That's what we celebrate christmas for. Did you know 86% of the U.S. Have no problem with saying christmas and christ and hate it when someone says Happy Holidays? Did you know that 13% don't care what anyone says? And did you know that 1% is offended by the word christ? What's wrong with it? Why can't we all just celebrate christmas and say it too?

^That just gets me worked up!

Because of people backgrounds, people try not to offend and say happy holidays. It's a "cover-all-your-bases" statement. In doing so it make the "holiday" very generic.

I don't know, maybe because not all of us are Christians? Sure, I don't mind what people say (Merry Christmas to you too), but saying something and forcing people to change beliefs are two different things altogether.

It's a christian holiday, and christians should be allowed to have their holidays observed the same as everyone else without having to parse their language.

Amen to everyone. And again if you are going to celebrate christmas, why can't some people even say it? If you are not christian, WHY THE HECK ARE YOU CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS? It celebrates the birth of our creators son, Jesus Christ. Is that too religious? If it is, then why are you celebrating it?

@Happy, if I go to your house and I can see that you are Christian, I have no problem wishing you Merry Christmas. If you come to my house, I would have a big problem if you said the same to me. My belief system is something I hold dear and you saying that to me trivializes everything I believe in. Yes, Christmas has been watered down so much that now its become almost a generic holiday, but it still has religious overtures.

Celebrate it all you want amongst yourselves, I have no issues with that. You guys earned it. But please, limit it to your homes and neighborhood. In the privacy of your home, celebrate away. However, when in public, try to understand other's perspectives.

Now the 4th of July there's a holiday --- picnics, alcohol, a little fishing, and explosives. Gotta love it.

X=Christ The "-mas" part came from the Anglo-Saxon for "festival", "religious event" This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters χ and ρ), used in ancient abbreviations for Χριστος (Greek for "Christ") so is basically Jesus Festival/Religious Event.

If you mean more currently, what about the intolerance shown by the religious right (Pat Robertson, Pat Buchanan...) for other religions? Or did you mean just the good Christians like yourselves? XD

No Cadc.... It was used in the 1000s by Xians. But then people forgot what it meant and got offended... And I really don't like the way you are saying that how certain individuals act = how the religion is. Lots of Xians are hypocrites. (I'm using it as Christians not the other Xians.)

There is no actual proof, no clothing, nothing, except for the bible. People just dont get it sometimes. I think this thread is just trying to grab peoples attention and get them to post here. (no offense happy.) But this is going a little too far from my perspective. The US is made of every religeon, and every culture. Theres a chinese store next to a Mongolian grocery store for god sakes! When someone says "merry X-Mas...) X=christ, it doesnt matter how you say it. There are a million words for Jesus:
