I have been wondering if it would be possible to create a version of a Thinks Tank game with real dirt terrain and real radio-controlled cars. Certainly radio controlled cars/trucks have been around for years, and laser tag has also been around. It seems almost do-able. Would require some custom programming of each car and the addition of a laser pointer-type gun and sensors. The scrum would most likely have to be electronic: a light on top of your vehicle would be lit when you have the scrum. Or I suppose you could have a steel ball and a magnet to hold it on top of your tank. When you get bumped hard enough, the scrum would transfer. When you shoot another tank with your laser, it would register a hit and their health would go down. When you die, your tank would maybe drive automatically to a pre-determined location at the edge of the playing field.

We could have Roo, dash and MM grab some shovels and they could build us some killer terrains! I've got some room in my back yard! XD It would be a kick to hang out and play TT for real!

Seems the cost and effort to do this would be prohibitive, but the technology to do this is here right now...

It's certainly possible.

Those tanks probably all use some sort of flash ROM for programming. You would need a VERY talented team of hardware hackers and lots of time. It's way easier to build the bots yourselves.

Not sure how scrum would work. Shooting would have to be some laser tag style thing. Reloads would be able to work the same as in the PC game. Not sure about power ups either.

Why radio-controlled? Let's equip real vehicles and then, if this thing takes off, we'll be worshipped like professional athletes. I got dibs on a jersey number.

I'd prefer it was with real vehicles.

Here's the light tank

Here's the medium tank

Here's the heavy tank

I like this idea, with remote controlled tanks, seeing there's already something of the sort going on. It wouldn't be that hard to do the "scrum light" on the top, but I think they would be best equipped for BM... CTF would be good though. There is the idea to have a spring loaded in the bottom, so when it registers a killing hit, it jumps/flips into the air. ;)
