INDIVIDUAL SCRUM CHAMPIONSHIPS! =(ISC)=

Let me run this idea by you real quick, I'd like to know what you think. If you think it sucks, please be honest with me! If you like the idea, maybe I'll get the ball rolling on it. I'll need some volenteers to help...

Okay... Get together once a week and play 4 rounds of Indi scrum for 8 weeks. That's a total of 32 rounds of scrum. Instead of keeping track of score, you keep track of wins! A win is a point !

If it's a tie, you split the point with the person you tied with! So if it's a 4 way tie, each person gets a quarter point! The person with the most points after 32 rounds is our Indi Scrum Champion!!!

Now here's the interesting part. The minimum number of players in each round is 3 and the maximum is 7. Each week we try to create as many servers as we can and rotate the players after each round!!! That way, There's fresh meat in each round!

I'll explain my idea for the player rotation in a bit, but first, let me explain how the multiple servers would work.

If 3 - 5 people show up, we just do 1 server.

If 6 - 8 people show up to play, we do 2 servers, split the people up and have a group of 3 - 4 in each server.

If 9 or more people show up, we do 3 servers with at least 3 people in each one.

I doubt that we'll ever have a turnout of more than 21, But if we do, we'll create a 4th server and split everyone up accordingly.

Now for the "Rotation of players". Here's my idea... The servers are labeled

At first, everyone meets in =(ISC)= meeting / warm-up server. Once we know how many people are participating, We'll create additional servers with a secured password and split everyone up accordingly for the first round.

=(ISC)= Server 1
=(ISC)= Server 2
=(ISC)= Server 3

Etc...

The top two scorers after each round moves to the next server in chronological order! So if they're in server 1, they go to server 2. If they're in server 2, they go to server 3. If they're in server 3, they go to server 1. You get the idea...

Except the HOST!!! The host does not rotate servers! If the host is of the top two scores, the next person(s) down on the list will rotate!

When the next round begins, the host grabs the scrum and takes it to the cliff. As soon as the 2 new players from the other server shows up, the Host dives with the scrum and they start the new round when the scrum spawns!

The host is also responsible for taking screenies and posting them in the forums, so that we can keep track of the results!

Only problem I can see with this is the different servers starting at different times. If all the servers don't launch at about the exact same time, the rotation could get thrown off a bit.

So what do you think? Sounds like fun???

YEY!!! Indi Scrum!! I always thought this was a great idea :)

1 thing (how will u take screenies of all the games?)

Also, I know this is just an idea for the moment, but what will the schedule be like? I think best time to do this would be on Saturday, seens the olympics r moved to Sunday ;)

Yes, I love the idea XD

The Server Host is kind of like a captain or coordinator. They take screenies after each round and instruct the players on which server they need to rotate to.

The next day or whenever they have a chance, they post their screenies in the official =(ISC)= thread and I record the results in the initial post of that thread.

Hay guys, thanks for the positive feed back! So far so good!

I had a good idea e-mailed to me... Instead of rotating the top "TWO" player of each round, we're only going to rotate the ONE person who won the round. If it's a tie, whoever's name is on the top of the list will rotate!

The same person also suggested a grid system to help organize the assignment of players in each server. It seemed like a good idea, but I'm still not sure exactly how it would work.

My thoughts were to set up an initial server with no password and set that server to fit like 25 people. Call it; "Indi Scrum Championship", and keep it up for a couple rounds while people gather.

While it's up, we'll have scouts going around recruiting whoever might be online at the time. Plus, I'll send out an e-mail to everyone who signs up for this a day before the event, then again an hour before the initial server is launched. This e-mail will serve as a reminder to everyone who signs up for it here in the forums. If you want to sign up for this but don't want to make your e-mail public, e-mail your request to dh0rt0n@hotmail.com and I will keep your e-mail private.

After 2 rounds, we should have a nice little group of people gathered. At which point, we'll assign hosts to the =(ISC)= servers (1, 2, 3, etc), announce the password for those servers, and split everyone up accordingly! As soon as everyone enters the server, the host of that server dives with the scrum and it's game on as soon as it re-spawns!

Each week the password will be different, so if you're late for the initial Indi Scrum Championship server and miss the announcement, you're screwed. You'll have to settle for zero points and hope to win 4 in a row the following week.

Right on! I'm glad to see that there is a demand for an Indy Scrum Tourney such as this! I was beginning to thing that I was the only one in the community that likes Indy Scrum. LOL

So far, we got 10 people signed up and 5 of them are willing to host! That's Great! But I want to get at least 5 more people signed up before we get things started because I know from experience that half the people who sign up for a league, don't actually show up. LOL

As soon as we get 5 more people signed up I'll launch the initial thread and schedule a start date! This'll probably be a Saturday afternoon / Evening league. So far, that seems to be the most requested time slot. No final decision has been made on that yet, so if you want to suggest a different time, be my guest. As always, I organize my leagues on a Majority Rules Basis!

Cadc, I here you on that. The concern was if you get stuck in a server with someone who is really good, you could end up having to settle for second every time. The idea was to mix it up so that you don't have to face the same person each round.

I thought of just having the winner rotate to keep it simple, but another solution would be to have the winner of the round go to the next server in order and whoever came in second go to the previous server.

For example, say you're in =(ISC)= server 2 with 4 other people including HankstaTanksta. Now say Hanksta wins that round and you come in second. Hanksta would rotate to =(ISC)= server 3 (next in order) and you would rotate to =(ISC)= server 1 (next server back). That way, you wouldn't have to face Hanksta again in the next round. It would be fresh meat, same for Hanksta.

We could do that, but I thought it would make it harder to coordinate. What do you think?
