I was reviewing some 3D graphics engines and found out about this place.

www.there.com

Basically, its the Sims online. I thought it would be cool to check it out, especially after imagining PTT meetings "in the flesh". Overall it looks pretty cool, but there is a fee ($10) to be a premium member and you have to download a sizeable client program. However, basic membership is free and other people can let you borrow stuff, so I did have some fun riding around in a red Jeep.

I thought it might be more fun to meet there from time to time instead of the usual Yahoo or Skype and try "hanging out".

On a side note, during my registration process I learned that my Yahoo e-mail address had already been registered, which I found odd since I'd never visited There before. I can only guess someone else had used it. Anyway, I reset the password and had the new one set to my Yahoo account, so now the Rabban found There is the same one you all know and love here. ;)

Looks cool. Too bad it's PC only...
Such 'places' will be incredible in say 10-20 years. There already are so many virtual places to hang out on the net!...

A world of avatars............

You could always use Firefor with the Ie tab extension with opens pages with IE only in that specific tab.
