I kow that in extremem cases, buying snowshoes can be helpful...
Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.
WELL,
You need to know where you are going to use them. If you are going to be snowshoeing in lots of brush, get a small pair. If your location doesn't have much brush, longer narrow shoes are fine. In brushy areas, the length give you nothing but trouble.
Personally, I love the old wooden and leather ones, but the newer aluminum or even synthetic frames are great.
If you can try before you buy (rental, etc.) that's a great idea.
And as I found out last summer, they don't work for walking on water...despite what the salesman says.
I've got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell.
Yet worn with nothing else but a bicycle helmet and Groucho Marx glasses will net the user a free hot meal with his evaluation.
