Bump
BTW, just what the heck do those stars mean?
I only have 4 and no badge... Feeling a little inadequate here... Does size matter?

Yes, size aways matters. Don't believe it when they say is doesn't.
Hope so, I just ordered a new 'book... :)
@ Wal
Hope so too, thinking of a new iMac. I do spend the vast majority of my time in Apple software but TT is an unknown with Rosetta.
Maybe Reagent got a chance to load up TT while at Macworld and is ready to post his evaluation NOW :)
@ Napy
You hurt me...

Yip. Talked to the GG mac guy today, and plans are underway to get TT updated for Intel (and possibly fix that sound bug while at it. Heh..)
Sounds like it won't be out right at launch, but the aim is to be near that.

Excellent news 56!

I'll try and test TT out on the new iMac tonight or tomorrow. Apparently, it's REALLY fast and once they patch it correctly for native use, it can render video slightly faster than the dual 2 G5 Tower. Not bad for a sleek looking machine that has a remote and a cam to boot! I see dual 3's around the corner and the next wave of speedbumps similar to when the G4 first came out. As Steve Jobs likes to reiterate.....BOOM!
^ Aren't you done with your TT test and review yet!
Gaaaaaaa.......

^ Ya, I find the mini an interesting option also. However a nice 20 inch widescreen would set a person back a few bucks too and it would be nice to have the real-estate. I can wait a bit longer.
But I don't like it :)

Macworld has done an initial review of the Intel iMac. First impression is it isn't as fast as Apple claims, especially when not running universal binares. Apps running through Rosetta may take a bigger performance hit than you'd expect.
As I told some of you in game a while back, TT crashed on the new Intel iMac. It would load the initial menu, but if you tried to launch a game, it quit. It wouldn't load my driver for my Kensington trackball and, more importantly, it wouldn't support my daily app of choice, Final Cut Pro. Apparently, the universal version for the production suite won't come out until the end of March and you have to pay an upgrade fee of $200. Now that sucks!
On the flip side, it worked quite fast with iLife '06 installed. IDVD has some pretty cool templates and if you want to burn DVD's quickly, the background encoding is speedy.
Safari worked like a charm and Front Row is amazing (Nothing like checking out full-screen movie trailers with the remote!). Photo Booth was fun to play with, too.
It definitely is a little buggy, but very fast and one stylin' looking unit.
I hope they come out with a compatible version, since I've ordered a 20" intel imac that I expect to be here at the end of feb. I love my powerbook, but you can't beat 500 gigs of hard drive space. I've almost filled up my laptop's 74.
Well, if anyone is wondering where I've been - here's the sad tale. Seems my MacBook Pro doesn't like TT. It runs, but performance has been so poor that I have not been on much. If this doesn't improve then my future with TT looks bleak. A shame. Has anyone else tried TT on an Intel mac yet, and if so, are the results better than mine. Lemme know. I would hate to have to leave TT like this...

I think the best bet is to try a virtualization package like Parallel's Workstation for Mac (in Beta so it's free right now). With it installed on your Intel Mac, you can create a Linux or Windows virtual machine. Load the appropriate version of TT in the virtual machine and play that version of TT instead of the Mac version. From what I've read, the virtualization software doesn't do 3D graphics but that might not be a big issue in TT.

I just saw this thread so I thought I would chime in.
TT is working fine on my intel Mac mini however I did not use the TT installer to load it.
I just dragged it from my G5 Tower over the network. Maps, skins and all.
Now I can play TT on my 47" TV in my bedroom using my mac mini
mac mini's ROCK!

I endured enough as an early-adopter/beta-tester of OS X. Much as I'd loooooove to get me some Core-power, I think I'll hold onto my wallet until the applications catch up. I figure things will be stable by September.
We're moving on 5 months here...does Bravetree at least have a beta of a Universal TT?
