I'd like to help out. Indie was my first love. (probably my best gaeme too). Let me know what I can do....
MkIV, I totally understand where you're coming from. It is downright nasty in those servers anymore. Thats why you haven't seen the likes of me there in some time. ;)
Thanks for your feedback. We're all aware SW servers are a mess. Unofrtunately BT/GG has no access to them, and SW has been turning a semi-deaf ear on this.
This is one of the greatest irritant of TT (non-admined indie servers) for it burns out new potential players (who would buy a game where morons run wild n' free?
I know some admins are looking into this SW issue (Nap - see his thread), and BT/GG are aware of this too.
Stuff is in the works.
In the mean time yes,
good idea to run more private servers with admin codes :)
@ Hugo
I removed that bit of info cause I don't think we are to talk about that yet B)

Hear, hear MkIV! Love that bit about the open swim...
I love to play indie, but find it hard to land a game without a high twit factor. That (and a full schedule) are pushing me to play less and less.
I'm also available to help admin if someone needs it.
Save the indies!
People have been saying to do this for a while yet nothing has happened yet? I really hope we follow through this time. I proberly can't help but if you need any im here. XD
EDIT: Oops I see there is already an indi scrum! Thanks roo!

Great indie games are hard to find these days, but once in a blue moon it happens. As mentioned, Roo and others do put up an indie scrum (TY very much), but I rarely see where it's "game on". I'm also playing much less on the SW servers for all the reasons being discussed, unless a good group is in. Miss playing indie games with MkIV, KKB, LGM, and many others.
But even getting a great game once in a blue moon is still awesome!
I'm not sure how or if I can help, but will do what I can..
I always try and have up an indie server. Currently its running PSL-X maps. The pass is the old PSL password so a lot people have it. If you eed need it MKIV just email me.
MkIV
I really agree with this. I usually play on my lunch at work and with some of the idiots language I have to hit the ignore script really fast. Wouldn't do for some of the ultra-conservative religious types take a look at my screen as they walk by and sue me (or one of the V.P.'s that are always hanging around,.... I really want to avoid that conversation). I try to play on the other servers but most of the time a 12 o'clock pacific they are empty.
I tried TT when it first came out and left because it had too many idiots playing. I came across it again last year and played a couple good rounds and have been hooked since. (I would have left a long time ago without the ignore script).
These next few weeks will be slow at work, I think I sit down and figure out how to host a server.
Thanks all for the support, help, offers, and suggestions. Reminds me how many good guys are out there, which keeps the few flaming morons from ruining my day.
Now I better get off here before I get a star under my name or something!
Mk
Before you go out on a limb and think there are nice folks out there let me remind you of what a putz you are. XD
Heh.
I hear you though MkIV. We had a decent run months back when Nutso and BC had their administered Indie servers up. The problem is that folks seem to always move back to the SW servers. Maybe a stock map server is the answer for some.
I recommend that hosters gather up some IPs of folks they trust to admin their servers. Why even have a PSW when you could just give folks right to Admin in the script itself? Is that a PIA or even possible?
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.
Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.
Hi all to help this along
I sent NUTS all my recent ScruMODz
20 missions to be exact
So Check out the "Dance Hall" when you get the urge
There should be some nice variety now
Kewl!! Thanks Roo!! XD
Since lots of complaining I HAVE noticed people starting to congregate in the spooky shockwave server and bigredbarn... More please
I Host mine not 24/7 Tho that will happen soon! :)
HaHa ^^ You Just Got p00ne1) WanT SoMe MoRe?? 1v1 You Host It.
Only comment, and PLEASE NOTE that I am NOT opposing ANYTHING, is; if the game is to keep alive and sell more copies than what benefit will it be to have people in servers with only mods or password protected games? People trying out the game for the first time are not likely going to come to a site and download a bunch of files or wait 15 minutes to join a game. If there were a separate section to download extra terrains when trying out the game then sure, it's a great idea, but unfortunately the Shockwave servers are an initiation to this game. Some of the most FUN games I have ever been in are ones where the great players here have outplayed and humurously outwitted some spectacle trying to ruin it. That's what will attract new people, seeing ten people for every one jerk, most can figure it out from there.
On a side note, I do think that after the demo period there should be some restrictions on names. I know I would have never used nearly as many aliases if there weren't so many others and I do feel that this is a contributing factor. If someone wants to screw with a game they leave and come back under a different name in the SW servers. If everyone were forced to re-purchase the game to get a new name it would cut down on the nonsense and half of these problems wouldn't exist in the first place.
Again, not slamming anything said here, only trying to make a point that the alias thing seems to be the root of many of these problems and to be cautious on not tuning out the new people.
Peace
Okay folks
NUTS just emailed me
He's all set with a new rotation in his indie server
Please enjoy

This forum runs riot with threads about idiots, camping, bm'ing, diving, impostering, swearing, rude names, and jerks. But like the weather, no one does anything about it.
One civic-minded vet set up a 'banlist' server for indie scrum. We've had great games there when you can kill, kick, silence, or rename idiots (the last two can be a real tazer for persistent jerks).
Meanwhile, we get lots and lots of excellent mods - - so many that I never seem to have all the currents set (rueful smile). Many servers run various mod packages, mostly for ts, which is great, but when you go online the most crowded scrum game is usually dumb ol' shockwave indie. And most of the posts here complain about how lame that is.
Wouldn't a few nice people like to set up one or two more indie servers using the standard terrains (or a few old standard mods) that can be administered? I like indie. It's one of the reasons I play tt. But shockwave indie is like open swim in a colony for homocidal schizophrenic licentious liars with oozing sores.
Save the world, serve simple indie scrum. And yes, I'll be happy to admin (insert smiley face here).
