Forums Index >> General >> Anti Imposter Script

Page : <1> :

Hello folks,

After I gave up modding, well maybe now and then I might do a bit of it, I started on scripting. At the moment I m working on a Anti Imposter Script, which isn't finished at the moment but I do need your help! For several things I depend on you! . This script works pretty easy and is server sided (as most of you should have known). It works with a NameRegister, in this name register will be names together with IP's, the IP's of the real people using that name. Aliasses can be added too, but you have to sign them up here. I do need some testers for Linux, Windows and Mac, so if any volounteers want to step forward!

What I want YOU to do:

1. go to what is my IP and copy the IP it gives you.
2. Type it here like this:
'insert name here' |insert IP here
example:
ScytheManÔ !ST!|81.245.215.*

NOTE: It might be best to copy your names from your players.cs located in game/client. Scroll down a bit and find something like
$playerList::name1 = "ScytheManô !ST! ";
and copy the BOLT part :)

as you might have noticed it is a Ô here, but on ThinkTanks in game it will show up as a ™, for what that is I don't know. But it might be because I have a AZERTY keyboard. That is the basic reason for what you have to take it from your players.cs

You can add as many names as you want, but it all has to be you! If it isn't you you will be classified as imposter on my list...

If there are any testers for the OS, please let me know by email (joren.TT@gmail.com)

Testers needed for:

MacOS (2 testers needed)

Windows (2 more testers needed)
Sersh
Cpt Rik
Linux (2 more testers needed)
Racer445

That is it
Please don't move this to the Modding Forum because I want all people to get involved

I thought it might be good to add a * on the last number. To secure your computer from virusses, and it will also make it for other computers from Your lan available to use your Real Name...

Back when -Z- was in county, his PTT servers had imposter protection as well.
PTT already has "registered alias" feature in your Member profile. All you have to do is click "update" and it updates the IP address. Perhaps a request to -z- or Hugobrain will let you tap into the database somehow. They could host it in a password-protected page and let select people access it for their server.

@JamesBomb
It is easy to make TT check on a page (PHP script for example) if a name is allowed. I could easily make it use the PHP "POST" command and return the IP of the person if its registered, and a string (like "FALSE" or "N/A") incase its not on the list. Then we could make a page where people entered their names and it registered their IPs with them... Or make us add manually from a post @ PTT... And then release the script that checked for the names ;)

PS: An example of a page for authentication that I made for testing porposes. You wont be able to get it to let you be authenticated though, but it'd say TRUE instead of FALSE. (btw, the page is a fully working PHP applet, even though you wont be able to see it through the source :P)
TT processes the first line as authenticated or not, then when it reaches [end] it finishes, so its possible to add more info ;)

It is a pretty easy trick, find it and be able to :)
You can already, you just have to find how :P

^^ It uses the console so its a bit complicated to install ;)

Friday, April 21, 2006 at 12:52:41 PM

^ I can handle it :)

**..::I am thoroughly... amused:::..**

Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:18:50 PM

^lol
And you need to know how to handle the console (to find out when it finished loading and stuff, and to know what to do to send a new message ;))

Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:24:28 PM

It's actually pretty darn easy. I dont know why everyone thinks it's such a secret. If you have the ignore script just "ctrl I" and the chat box shows up. Delete any text that is in there and type away! Works fine done it millions of times.

How do you see what other people are saying? I've done the ctrl+I thing before, I just want to know if theres any way of carrying on a conversation. B)

^^ and ^^^
That's not my trick. I start the console with my copy of TT, have a script that prints all incoming chat into the console, and another script that lets me talk IN the console with chat("text");

Doesn't each admin script come with one of these?

Scy, I know what went up with that other script. I can email it to you.

I'll test for Mac OS if you want...

Do you still need a mac tester?

Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 2:36:51 PM

^^ All admin scripts have this in them, just add NAME|IP to the nameregister.cs file...
